    I think one of the best attributes of Gordon is the respect he shows his opponents on the mat. You never see him holding a submission for any longer than he needs to; once he feels the tap, he releases all the tension immediately.

    I just love the fact he never cranks or tries to hurt his opponent. Especially on the leg locks

      Yeah his locks are smooth. If you watch him closely it's like he's just gently but firmly setting it in, no cranking with with excessive force.

    His technique is so lethal, so controlled. Admire and respect the way he immediately stops as soon as his opponent taps.

      @@barancalisci372 From what I know, you choose to go either the armbar route or the backtake. So they start there and then continue until a submission or until the opponent escapes

    Best No Gi BJJ grappler yet... I like the fact is going to work on his Gi BJJ skillset as well, and he has worked on freestyle/folk style wrestling. Hats off. I think Danaher has him working some judo as well, not sure...thought I read that somewhere.

    Honestly Gordon Ryan is amazing for the weight class, he’s inspiring. When I do what he does sometimes it’s so cool, like freeing your leg with another leg.

    The acceptance and use of leg locks in the game really changed everything. It's the one thing the Gracies didn't really believe in.

    Gordon's finishes seemed more exciting when he was "skinny Gordon." When he gained mass he became an unstoppable smashing machine but less fun to watch. I'd say it was a worthy tradeoff for him though. :)

    Seems like everything is mostly leg locks and rear nakeds. I'm new to BJJ and still don't know what a leg lock is but I would like to learn how in the world you get out of some of this stuff or even fundamentals to avoid this.

    It’s crazy that People still think Gordon Ryan is good at bjj. He’s on steroids! Even by his own admission. There are bjj athletes out there that would wipe the floor with Ryan if they used gear. Nicky Rod, Owen Livesy, Royal Marine Sam Sheriff, Alex Smith, Craig Jones - the list goes on. He’ll be exposed soon !
