Never a dull moment with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. Brilliant actors and sadly missed. They left us with many glorious films from the fantastic 50's and 60's. Althought they started their careers before and continued after, these two decades were my favourite period of their work and what a time!
P
It's great to use these old films , just to see how Britain used to look, Britain had a charm and quaintness in those times,...shops , cars , pubs and the general look and feel of Britain in those times was so much better then,..., and it makes you realise just how far we've fallen as a nation .....
You can’t say that. Diversity is a strength don’t you know.
When enough arses keep voting Tory - that'll happen to a place.
@@brettmeikle hmmm so I guess that’s why most of the shit hole areas are labour run strongholds.
@@PibrochPonder but they aren't "Labour run" are they. You saw what happened in Manchester. Local government is impotent. The buck stops with Downing Street. Even parliament is a useless talking shop nowadays :(
Haha you guys crack me up!
Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee must have made a movie every 3 days :))
Yep. They even both ended up doing Star wars.
The great Cushing & Lee, and not forgetting Patrick "Barrett Homes" Allen make this a watchable film.
Jane Merrow as Jeff's old flame Angela Roberts. She was pretty cool back then and had some better roles = like in The Lion in Winter.
“Crane”
I love these films. Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, what an amazing combination. I love the sets and costumes, especially the Victorian era ones. They had to rely on acting to get the message across, they didn't have super special effects or CGI etc, they had to be able to act to tell the story. How many could do that now? Flick Vault you are amazing, I really appreciate these uploads!
I love these old sci fi and horror classics, they take me back to when I was about 13 in the 70s when I was allowed to stay up on a Saturday night and watch the horror double bills on bbc2,especially at christmas time.xx💖💖
Yes, same here used to get to watch the double bills late night in about 1978, when i was ten, werewolf, Frankenstein, etc. Still a joy to watch these great films.
The cave used in above movie was in island of terror also :):)
I miss those days, the 60’s and 70’s were the best years for me.
I love every thing to do with GB. Fantastic Science fiction styles on a shoe string budget.
Jane Merrow and an Austin Healy Sprite ……………..Superb ……Great movie .
This channel is a godsend! Great, stylish old films we'll never have again.
Hilarious dialogue aside, I've always loved this film. One of my faves... Thanks for uploading!
One of the great British Scfi movies of all time.
I LOVE this film, I just love it. I love the unique and scary alien interpretation, the snarky sexuality and deceit, the entire atmosphere of it. Timeless goodness. Thanks for the great copy!
Yes, those features plus island isolation.
Snarky sexuality. Sounds good. Good choice of words. How about "snarly snarky sexuality"?
Does anyone know what island is this?
Love these old movies , many happy memories watching these movies as a child 👍👌👌
Wonderful to watch a British film with British actor’s absolutely brilliant.
Reminds me of the films they would put on 10:30 on a Friday evening. If it wasn't a Hammer film it was one of these. Would watch at my grans house and dad would go nuts because we wouldn't get home till late and he had work on Saturday mornings.
I also love these old classic films, next up for me is Island Of Terror! Thanks for uploading these.
It’s a good film that
Peter Cushing is the only true gentleman..... He left his jacket on even with all that Heat to the end
One tries one's best to remain an Englishman!
That’s because he was British🇬🇧
another classic, thanx for posting'Christopher and Peter were always better together.
.
One of two films (Island of Terror being the other) directed by Terence Fisher, with the same score composer, Malcolm Lockyear. The location for the Swan Public House exterior is in Milton Keynes. It's actually still there and is still a pub!
Dave does your name Opera stand for Operation...??
Is that the one with the big beer garden at the back of it and carpark
Great bit of trivia, thanks!
David Fade The location where jeff goes to meet angela, when she's in her bikini, is smugglers bay, osmington mills dorset, had many great holidays there with my parents when i was younger.
And the same little cave features in both films
I remember seeing this movie when it first released. Thank you for the chance to see it again
i met jane merrow a few years ago...got her autograph..she hadnt changed much and was very nice. however i got the impression she didnt rate the film very much.but at least she got to work with 2 classic actors!!!!
She didn't rate the film..?!?!?!!
She's got a nerve. ! Her own acting
wasn't exactly a master class...
More like late period Crossroads...!
Despite the awful heat dear old PC keeps his jacket on.....What a gentleman!!!!!!!
Great movie. Good to see the old ways. Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee still entertaining us. R.I.P 10/10 🖐️🇦🇺🦘
Superb piece of classic British sci fi. Great film.
have you never seen Quaitermass and the pit very good British film
I love Christopher Lee [ count Dracula ] is one of my preferred British actor ..
THIS movie IS VERY GOOD HAS 3 EXCELLENT ACTORS IN IT
Like... Thank you for your set of those detective, sci fi and horror films from the era long passed. Yes, Britain was different. I never lived there, except 24 hours in London and a week in Belfast, but being close to 70 and thanks to books... and such films I know about her - enchanted. amused and sometimes frightened - much more that 99% of young Britons. Well, hopefully they'll be able to tell something about today's Britain to their own grown up kids. I'm a foreigner, but my parents drove a Brtitish-made gray "Standard" and I still keep a few comics books from Britain of 1959-1960, like "The Dandy Book", when school teachers wore those funny four-cornered hats presently worn briefly only by college graduates and really caned lazy or unruly schoolkids. Those helped me to make my first steps in English even before the Beatles.
@Wessex Thanks... Mortar boards. Few genuiin English younger than 60 will understand that.
The most realistic film I've ever seen, fantastic acting too ! totally believable.
SaRcy 😅
I always thought Peter Cushing was on the short side, heightwise, but was astounded to find he was just short of six feet tall.
The lovely and talented, Jane Merrow. She did a great job in The Lion in Winter as Alais.
They have to be the slowest moving aliens ever! They could be outrun by continental drift!
The Creeping Terror could catch 'em!
Bonus! Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing appearing together. 🐨🇦🇺
Several great actors in a typical 1960s movie full of the relatively simple charm of the period. In many ways better than the OTP intensity of modern brain burning movies.
There were a couple of days like that last summer. I was in the park and everyone left it was too hot. A couple of days in London like that are worth all you can get.
I remember watching this on bbc when they used to show films all the time in 70s 80s.
Just BULLSHIT NOW Sam.
Seems cheezy nowadays but I absolutely adore this film. Christopher Lee & Peter Cushing were amazing we'll never see their like again
Watched this late one night as a kid in the 70's and could never remember what it was called. This, and Isle of Terror
The cave in the opening scenes is the same one they had for "Island of Terror".
I love the older British films thank you 👍
Very good movie thrill supense christopher lee invented Big Heat. Thnk you for watching nice movie.
It's pretty hot today, so I thought I'd watch this. Thanks.
Very well great classic and iconic actors
I was very upset to see wanton destruction of all those bottles of Carlsberg. 😕
@Brian M that’s my favourite beer, I was drinking several cans whilst watching the film lol 😂. Great film enjoyed watching again.
probably the best popping beer in the world.
That was very entertaining ! .... thanks for uploading. Dialogue was a hoot.. & lots of eccentric crazy behaviour ! (& You’d think the dr would have removed his heavy jacket & tie in that heat) these old films are great. Scottish island - and not one Scot living there ?!
At 17:31 Marty Hopkirk (Kenneth Cope) says, "I'll be off then Jeff" - reminiscent of that other Jeff - Jeff Randall in "Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased)". Love coincidences...
13:26 amazing brakes on those old Land Rovers, 30mph to zero in four feet.
That car explosion was hilarious. Rolled on its side and blew up.
Christopher Lee AND Peter Cushing, what more could a man ask for?
@The Arbiter You might like our upcoming sci-fi series with Robert Picardo (Star Trek: Voyager): ua-cam.com/video/1f5UfgPlMAA/v-deo.html
I'd ask for Jane Merrow.
Compulsive viewing, shocking acting!
It’s boiling hot….let’s all put on jackets and long sleeves 😂
I Love this movie!!!!! Thank you 💖
This educational film has been fully endorsed by the Greta Thunberg foundation.
Pick on a little girl? U big man
ha,ha,ha!
"How dare you!"
Priceless!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Mr Mouse.
very funny! the story is still closer to reality than Greta's fantasies, and it does not steal any girly dreams ...
Good movie for it's time.
Love this movie. Great !
Well, guess since Andromeda Strain now costs $3.99 to rent for 48 hrs. and this is free . . .
Btw: the original movie version of AS was directed by Robert Wise, who directed The Day the Earth Stood Still. Both still stand up.
Love old Landrovers!
^^
Another British film good cast
great film
Here's a bit of movie trivia. Sarah Lawson, who plays Patrick Allen''s wife in this film, was his real life wife. They were married for 46 years until Allen passed away in 2006. Sarah is still with us, I'm glad to say.
Yes i read that too
Kenneth Cope and Jane Merrow are still going (as at 12/22))
Sadly Sarah passed away in Aug 2023 aged 95...!
Patrick Allen ( the Voice ! ) passed in 2006 - aged 79.. 🙏 🙏
The lovely Jane Merrow should have wone an oscar
for The Night Of The Big Heat, running around in a bikini in winter time and
jumping in the water, this
was filmed in Jan -Feb 1967
very professional.
Paul Bacchus esq
@Chris Manzi yes, Jane Merrow, a gorgeous actress.
Paul Bacchus esq
Jane Merrow, more German than English. Very fetching girl.
Seemed a lot better when I watched it as a youngster in the 70`s.
If only they had known that a bucket of water would have got rid of them.
these creatures remind me of the silicates from 'island of terror': very slow moving and making strange noises. both most vicious!
Seen this years ago/ not bad / not good/ typical British thriller/ short on thrill/ still fun to watch
Really good fun thanks for uploading!
LIKE The ISLAND Of TERROR THIS MOVIE IS EXCELLENT
Will watch that one next!!
@@islandgirl5382 This one is pretty good (I mean... Lee, Cushing and Fisher - what's not to love?), but Island of Terror is so much better.
Stay safe,
Win Xx
Where is Sam Kidd
i freaking love this move!! X
Thanks for freaking sharing!! x
Ironic, Cushing & Lee both starred in the Star Wars movies, I enjoyed this.
They made lotsa movies together before Star Bores kid.
@@alswann2702 well aware of that.
@@alswann2702 They were great friends in real life.
Brilliant, thank you 😊
My god! First time in years I've seen a woman who actually has a waist! The first view of the secretary in the bikini really shows the hour glass. Amazing.
I bet she was an excellent secretary. You'd never want for a place to keep your biros, that's for sure.
All very well for the male of the species but shame there's no men in this film with firm buttocks, a six pack and a broad back.
@@kerenhumphreys43 😂
Must have been hard for Lawson whose real life husband Allen was :- those clinches with Merrow were pretty steamy!
About the worst ending I ever saw to a horror film - "look the rain, it's killing them" ...then it finishes !
Yes, it's pathetic.
If it killed the Triffids, it could kill anything
The budget didn't extend to 'endings'.
They have some real nice cars. Love the two tone job!
I had a similar two tone 1968 Humber 90 that went like a dream,
I think the little convertible is a 66 Austin Healy Sprite a very cool car . It would be worth a small fortune as a collectors item . Then again most any of these auto's would be .
Jt Williams
If it's the one that drove through the fence and crashed your talking about it was a Ford consul Mark 1, taught myself to drive in a Ford Mark 1 zephyr., the consul was a four cylinder, and the zephyr was a six cylinder also there was a zodiac again six cylinder but supposedly a bit more up beat to the zephyr. Hope that helps
I just cannot believe they died because of a snail pace monster! They were aliens? They looked like tortoises. I think the same type of monsters were shown in another movie of Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing.
Ridiculous and comical attempt at making us believe they're sweating. Thanks for uploading.
Yes 2 very good actors chrisptor Lee and Peter chusjing now hammer horror movies brilliant Amanda Jane mclaughlin
The dr was burned to death but the battery in his walkie talkie was still good.
you were not meant see take any notice of that. may be it was that if not being used the power output is too low for the creatures to worry about.
in the same way as people don't pick up 1p or 2p on the street normally.
America had Lugosi & Karloff and UK we have Cushing & Lee Masters of Horror
Karloff was actually a Brit
The Pub landlord Patrick Allen and his wife Sarah Lawson were husband and wife in the real world too
10:41 "May I have the pleasure?" Alternative dialogue: "No - we've only just met."
some of these British actresses and Actors besides the well known ones appeared on the television in the 60s and seventies in plays and sitcoms I am now 78 years old and remember watching them in my much younger days some in black and white t.v and one actor was in a series he was good too
A bunch of British people sat in the pub complaining about the weather. How is this in any way supposed to be science fiction???
Do not watch if your are offended ya twat.
Back in the day this would have had us on the edge of our seat. But the alien showed little imagination.. but entertaining enough, a lot of B horror movies came out in the 60’s & 70’s. Good acting though & stars. Lee & Cushing.
What Cardinal sin had Terence Fisher been guilty of that got 'im booted out of the Hammer citadel, apparently ? Wasn't he their top director ? Or perhaps he was out "on loan" to the makers of this film ?
He had a contract to make 3 films for Planet...The Earth Dies Screaming in ' 64, Island of terror in '66 and this '67
The Gorgon (1963) is my favorite Terence Fisher film. Saw it on the late show when I was seven years old and it scared the shinola out of me. When it was released on DVD I was ecstatic. Very spooky and atmospheric.
@@jasonhurd4379 The Gorgon was a superb film, especially the new prints with the vivid colours 😃. It's script was one of the best Hammer screenplays, too.
Fisher's version of phantom of The Opera failed so Hammer didn't use him for several years. To be fair to Fisher, the horror had been watered down after Cary Grant(!)expressed an interest in playing the phantom. He then changed his mind, leaving Fisher with a very weak script and no time for rewrites.
Jane Merrow in an MG Midget, heaven.
Austin Healey Sprite Mk 2. You can see the A H badge on the front.
That was Horrific i did not watch the end of the film i had my eyes shut
I appreciate the irony and keen sense of humour!
Great movie. But there are as many ads as there is the movie. Very disappointing.
Lee and Cushing: be sure its a good, thrilling movie!
this movie makes me sweat ...
I love old England its just so , I hope too seed it in 20 years but it is changing because of migration
I'm prepared to accept the situation is very dangerous.
A watchable yarn, albeit routine. At least Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee are on hand.
Christopher Lee used to look like Nicolas Page when he was young.
Omg, the mis dubbed screaming at 30:29, lol
Nature has a way. What, me worry? Let's have another pint.
Yes I loved watching the old horror classics Amanda Jane mclaughlin
How did the pub get enough electricity to drive all the instruments and amplifiers? Probably the only cable is the reason for the heat.
Good movie!
The high pitched humming sound of the aliens reminds me of the 'Bristol Hum', and sound lasting for a few seconds and then mysteriously stopping at random. A theory says it is made by gas pipes.
@9:43 "Some Rain wouldn't hurt" @9:48 Car pulls up with actual rain in the background.
Haha...enjoyed this film...l wonder how much it cost to make...keep it up👍
