  • I’m not very drawn to the look of just having the egg shape on the front, so I haven’t experimented with getting the effect contained to just the front.

    Thanks for sharing. My initial thoughts on this whole cosmic egg pattern was that I didn't like it and wasn't going to bother trying it. But, now I'm seeing adaptations of the technique that are inspiring. I really like where you're goung with the patter over the whole surface rather than just the egg shape in the middle.

    Is this DUI or DOI? Do you sprinkle the dye randomly or in stripes or sections?

  • @sissisquiltandbatik
    @sissisquiltandbatik 11 місяців тому

    How fun!! You might have cracked it😉👍 I will absolutely try it today. So you did DUI, just sprincle "everywhere" or in sections? and then in a bag in hot water, so no soak in hot bath by itself, right. No more soda ash? I wonder if I might actually stick it in my micro oven (in a bag or bowl of water!). It looks so nice and really really interesting patterns! So this was done the same day? So exiting! Thank you for showing🤗

    • @corkylorenz
      @corkylorenz  11 місяців тому

      that would be nice to have a dedicated microwave for speed batching dyes!!

    • @corkylorenz
      @corkylorenz  11 місяців тому

      For your questions: I just sprinkle soda ash on with the powdered dye. After the ice melted, I put it into a bin of hot water for about an hour to speed up batch time. The only downside to speeding things up, is it can transfer black to the lighter areas, in a plastic bag. If you just drop it into the hot water without the bag, it contaminates the light areas much less, but dye bleeds off overall.
