This video is about how to install a fuel pump assembly E8677M in a 2005 - 2010 Kia Sportage. Airtex is the only U.S. automotive aftermarket manufacturer that designs and builds electrical AND mechanical fuel delivery system components, including modular reservoir assemblies, electric fuel pumps, mechanical fuel pumps and in-tank sender and hanger assemblies, for a full range of car, truck, fleet and specialty vehicles.
2005 Kia Sportage took me just under an hour. Straight forward video. Thanks Richard Young! You saved me a bundle.
Great video, but getting the old pump out was WAY harder than when you did it. SO tight that I ended up popping the top off the old pump so I could see how to fit the lower part out of the zero clearance opening. After figuring out the hose connections it was a straightforward project.
Great, informative vid! Just what i needed. Replaced my fuel pump assembly just this morning on my 2005 Tuscon ($180 from Rock Auto) in 45 minutes. No more hard starts. Thanks!
Very professional 👏
Great video. I appreciate the instructions, would have been a lot harder without your video. Replaced my 2005 Tuscon fuel pump today but the old one did not come out as smoothly as shown in the video. It felt like it was stuck on something. Finally came out after the float came off. I tried angling it out and straight up but took a good 30+ minutes to dislodge it. Very surprised that the car does not smell of gas when finished. It was pretty strong while working on it.
I'm so glad to read your comment! This is exactly where I'm stuck at the moment. I guess I'll just keep at it like you did.
Aha! I figured it out. Since you said that about the float valve I decided to push really hard toward the center of th vehicle as I pulled and then it came right out!
good upload.......
I have gotten a new fuel tank not to long ago. do I still need to clean the inside of the tank
Thx much for this video
But why do you need to clean the fueltank?
My fuel lines have plastic covers and then the 2nd line has an L-join that makes it impossible to remove the fuel line for an inexperienced diy mechanic like me.
This video helped me gain confidence to attempt this at least.
At least I did the steps well, up until the fuel line L-join connection on my 2005 KIA SPORTAGE is too hard to push off the spout.
Is it the same for 2002 kia sportage suv
what model fuel pump is that which can run a vehicle without any fuel in the tank?
just kidding. awesome video.
I was thinking same thing. :)
FYI the pump doesn't just slide out. It's worse than playing operation.
Also, one of my fuel line connectors was sideways. I had to fine a curved piece of metal to push the other tab.
Where is the reset fuel pump button at?
thanks a lot
Thanks for the video! exactly what I needed!
Is that the same for tucsun 2012
Thanks for the upload! Don't know if anyone can answer my question, but would this type of assembly apply to a 1994 Kia Sephia as well? Trying to replace the fuel pump but we're not exactly sure of the location of said fuel pump. Would it be in the back seating?
The 1994 Kia Sephia does have an access under the rear seat.
I've been struggling for over an hour to get the pump out of the tank. It seems to be hanging up on the tabs that hold the pump housing together. Any advice would be helpful.
there should not be anything obstructing the pump from being pulled straight up and out. Unbolt and remove.
I moved everything out of the way that was visible, then just kept wiggling all over and yanking. Of course I didn't really care because it was defective already. I'm scared about installing the new one when it arrives.
I have an 2009 kia sportage would the fuel pump behind driver seat as well
How to change a fuel pump on a 2004 Santa Fe and where is it located
Hope it's the same on 2007, under rear passenger seat.
Make sure you don't spark the tools when removing the covers.
Release gas pressure before tasking on the job.
I said that, right?
Warning. Fuel level sensor on side will cause the pump to stick.
This vid is misleading on the effort it takes to pull this thing out. Took me an hour and a half of wrestling til it finally came out. Its a struggle.
It can take some finesse and friendly persuasion to get the pump out and back in. Patience is key.
I have a 2008 Kia Sportage and my fuel pump isn't under my back seat. where would it be?
ALSO, my gas tank looks pristine inside. Do I really need to clean it?
Thanks you and kia for putting it in a place where I can get to it
Hi, would this apply to 2010 Kia Soul 1.6 as well?
Thanks
