LMS 46115 - A Bellowing Scot Charges Over The Shakespeare Line !

- Following on from the last week's double headed Castles was always going to be a bit a bit of a challenge especially given the level of performance which was on display. For the today's video we would get a rare southern visit of 46115 Scots Guardsman heading from Manchester to Stratford Upon Avon, the highlight of the trip would be the juant over the Shakespeare Line aka the North Warwick Line, which runs from Birmingham Snow Hill to Stratford Upon Avon. The section of the line is very well preserved if a little overgrown but it has some lovely stations especially from Hall Green onwards.
It's not often West Coast Railways send their supreme Royal Scout this far south and when we fancy seeing the locomotive it usually ends up in a long day, so the fact it was coming on to our patch made it one not to be missed. The video starts off in rural Staffordshire at Madeley, where we get a good side on glimpse of the Royal Scot class as its passed by two Pendolinos. With the scenic shot of the day completed we headed into the Birmingham suburbs where 46115 is heard leaving Tyseley and passing through Spring Road, which is probably the most run down station on the North Warwick Line, which can be seen why in the going the away shot. Almost a mile further up the line is Hall Green, where the loco can eventually be heard accelerating harder while trying to make up time, unfortunately the diesel on the rear gives a helping hand to regain time.
For the return leg there is the long 9 mile climb from Edstone Aqueduct to Earlswood Lakes at a majority of 1/150. For the return we chose Henley In Arden, which again has been well preserved with just a few additions of modern day infrastructure on display. 46115 was captured in fine voice and working very well as it headed towards Birmingham. After the hard work was over the Scot is seen slowly at Shirley as it approaches a signal check. This was a bonus shot as I (Liam) was not available for the return leg due to work commitments but In a stroke of luck I just happened to be in the area at time of the train, so I took an early break and headed over to the station with my phone in hand, not a bad way to finish, I just hope the boss isn't watching or reading this !
I hope you enjoy the video - Авто та транспорт
Another fantastic film, many thanks.
New rule: first leave a like and then watch the video! Great coverage, impressive sound. Really glad that there are people like you, which are making that videos and showing the younger generation what trains used to be like!
A great rule, which we fully endorse ! Many thanks for watching and commenting.
A great sequence mate.
What better way at 8am than to watch a great train video while it's -15C and snowing. Thanks for a great video.
Brillaint video! I also had fun chasing 46115 last Saturday.
Great quality, and the opening sequence has a very good example of panning - a tricky thing to pull off smoothly and really well done here.
Steam forever! Been a lifelong fan. Lucky to live near a steam railway, the sound is a pure delight!
Many thanks, and for the final sequence it is amazing what today's phones can shoot high quality video.
Keep it up boys this is a first time I’ve get to see 46115 and it’s also the first Stratford visit by this engine
Cheers Mate, we're lucky as it rarely strays away from the North
@@MarshSteamVideosTM yeah boys indeed
Great video I was on the train
Liam & Phil, Great coverage of the Scot's visit to the West Midlands. Regards, John
46115 is heavily overshadowed by 46100 royal scott its glad we still have love for scotts guardsman
Great set of views, thanks. 👍👍👍👍. Spring Road always was the poor sister of the line. I had the dubious pleasure of working there for about six months on relief in 1980. One lamp hut, half office half waiting room, on the bridge, and a bus shelter on either platform!! The over building was a multistorey carpark to serve Lucas and a trading estate behind. It was just completing as I worked there.
Thanks for sharing your experiences of Spring Road, a lot has changed !
Hard to imagine super cold weather, including snow, as in my location (Melbourne) 17000km away it's temperate in early autumn. Superb videography: A1 composition.
Love how your highlight stunning historic stations (and sadly bridge graffiti). On another trip to UK/Europe later this year I will 'do' this line through Shirley, although probably not time to alight at an intermediate station.
Great to see despite constant negative publicity about 'the UK economy' that rail tours (touch wood) seem to be obtaining sufficient interest to run. I have booked on an RTC one, but in Sep 2022 one I had done same for was cancelled due to lack of bookings.
Many overseas are appreciative of the time and expense you go to in recording occurrences in the nation with the best preserved railway and main line steam running worldwide, England. I hope you get thousands more views.
Hello, Edmund
Loadings are generally mixed for steam tours at the moment. Some are doing well and some not so much. We're booked on the Edinburgh Flyer from York in a few weeks and that seems to have done well, but then again it only runs a few times a year if you're lucky, so will always sell. S&C fatigue has effected a few tour operators, as its a well frequented market, a few have been cancelled due to low bookings, though the Cumbrian Mountain Express has yet to cancel despite their trains not being full.
@@MarshSteamVideosTM Thanks: great information. My one is to Swanage, so hopefully not 'fatigued'.
@@MarshSteamVideosTM Thanks. I travelled (for the second time) on S&C last year, so no 're exam' this year. Handy to know what's occurring with tours. There will be operational difficulties and perhaps pathing constraints, plus hours eaten up in slow travel, but tour operators need to look at including some less frequented branch lines on trips.
Good video. The locomotive sounded good and looked good, the latter being more than can be said for the state of some of the stations on the line.
Wow, that was a really sweet chase, love me some steam! Excellent work our friend! (Dave).
Thanks again!
@@MarshSteamVideosTM you are welcome
Well done video :)
Nice video great camera work as usual as always keep it up bye for now Philip
A beautiful collection of shots, well done on all of them as always! I was actually on the Voyager that was passing South at the same time as 46115 in your shot at Madeley 🤣! And of course great to see you at Shirley. Regards, Dan
Cheers Dan, bloody Pendos, though at least they didn't block the shot ! Hope you had a good day.
Great video. I filmed Scots Guardsman this weekend at Greenholme and posted on my channel @ All Things Trains. It was a cracking sight to see. I have subscribed to your channel :)
The first rule upon entering a railway station, turn your hearing aid down. Just in case! Lol. Another great Video by the way Liam.
Thanks for the tip, Andrew. Glad you enjoyed the video.
I don't want to see you get into trouble with the boss. Nice video anyway. What is it about Scots Guardsman that makes you love him so?😉
MSV do you give shows of your videos please?
Hello Colin, I have responded to your email. Apologies for the late reply.
Is there a mirror problem here when the "vehicle" other passed on the right?
You'll have to explain a bit more, I'm not with you ?
What's the ⚠️ Red Zone Prohibited Area supposed to be about? I 🤔
Andrei, absolutely no idea ! Hopefully someone may be able to answer.
