The 60s were a great time for british boxing fans (even though we didn't produce many world champions: there was just one at each weight, unlike today). There was loads of boxing on the BBC, amateurs as well as professionas, and many fighters were household names.
I've got Henry's autobiography somewhere. He said he hated fighting Bodell, everything he did was awkward and wrong, even falling over he fell the wrong way, but he was brave and strong and hit hard.
Henry's Main Weakness Was His Vulnerability To Cuts. If He Didn't Cut So Easily, He Would Have REALLY Been Awesome! That Left Hook Of His Could Knock Your Head Off!!! 🥊
It is interesting that cooper, at 33 years old, was considered a veteran fighter. All of the top heavyweight fighters today are far older and really are past it.
@@paulkenneally789 well watch Cooper v erkine and You name what You see cos in My break thats brutal and i Say brutal with respect to coopers power and accuracy
Total garbage and you know it. The break between rounds was 6 (six) seconds longer than it should have been. There is a video of it on UA-cam. And Ali won every round but one.
@1978ajax It was illegal but they might not have known rules were different. Ali wax up at 3 sure he was shook up but it’s a bit of a myth that he was out of it in there. He had a history of recovering quickly from being hurt, I don’t think the outcome would have been any different.
Cooper was never a true heavyweight....under 14 stone...they put lead weights in his boots at weigh in....FACT from autobiography..!!..STILL took on the best of the time..even putting Ali on the floor....Went 15 rounds with Bugner who was around 2stone heavier..!!!!

What I liked about this win for Henry was he landed a few decent right hands for once.
And yet Henry Cooper floored Ali with a left hook ....!!!!!

7:18 Harry 'He doesn't know where he is' Carpenter.
Henry was one of the hardest men who ever laced up the gloves🤗🤗👍
That 'enry Cooper. Win or lose, you can't help but pull for him. He's exciting to watch.
Good finish from Cooper.

Great video thanks for uploading this 👍
You bet.
💪🤓👍
Mr Cooper never rushed , he was controlled aggression all the way , clinical.
Harry carpenter always hedged his bets as a commentator so he could always be seen as knowing what he was talking about.
So he was a 'bullshitter par excellence...'
Speak against Harry again, son... you'll regret it.
How great to hear the words 'the British Empire'. Ah, those were the days!
Bit embarrassing really
Ref should have given Bodell a standing 8 at the end there.
Gradioso boxeador para mi fue el unico que vencio a muhammad ali claramente pero la campana lo salvo
Que bueno hablas de Henry así saludos desde Irlanda de dónde es ?
"And Cooper is cut!". I wonder how many times Harry said that in his career?

People are bigger and fitter these days
Bodell needed a tattoo on his chin:
Jack Bodell, the man with the Yorkshire Pudding Chin.
Bit harsh - Bodell was very courageous and fought some very good men
Henry was brutal ❤
Mate, Cooper was never brutal.. did the job and took a pounding himself..still respect to him and Bodell.

Unbunch the panties, mate.
Great boxer
Formidable la izquierda de cooper
Henry Cooper and Jimmy Ellis were supposed to fight for the WBA title...would've been a good fight
Henry was great fighter 👍
He gave him a good slap
Looks like Molineux stadium
Bodell did not last one round against Jerry Quarry so let's not get carried away here
@johnny
We won't get carried away.
You might get tossed though, you little tosser.
Yet Bodell beat Bugner over 15 rounds....putting Bugner on the floor in round 14...!!!!!
Carpenter was such a crap commentator, always trying to put someone down, and always wrong!
Let's not forget Cooper was beating Ali and most likely have won the fight if it wasn't for the the cheating in Ali's corner.

@1978ajaxQuestion: How do you they were "illegal stimulants"? Answer: You don't.
@1978ajax
The stimulants were legal in the USA but not here.
Ali always recovered quickly, he steamrollered Henry in the next round.

small ring
Good ole Henry , decent British European heavyweight who always fell short when he ventured into world class opposition
Bodell was just the level that Cooper needed, otherwise he was mediocre.
Quien le enseñó a boxear al tal bodell??? Era de un boxeo totalmente amateur!!!! Su forma de boxear era horrible!!!!!!!!!!!
How can you be a boxer when you have a glass chin - it's laughable really
Cooper fought at the wrong weight

You are talking bullshit; the cutoff point for light heavy is 175lb, before the introduction of cruiserweight anything above that was a heavy.
