I wrote to Henry Cooper once asking him for an autograph, sent him a boxing glove with £5 for the postage. He sent the glove back signed and also the £5 true gentleman, great man, rest in peace, sir Henry Cooper
I wrote to Henry cooper when I was 6 years old In 1971 We wrote to and fro for about a year He came to my school and took me to the chip shop In Matalan Derbyshire My mother threw away all the letters and photos he sent me 😭 Everyone at school was so jealous 😂
What a fantastic sportsman Henry was. Humble, modest and brave as a lion. Can anyone imagine him trash talking an opponent...like David Haye did for example ? Far too much class for that...which is why he will live on in the memories of all Boxing fans and the public in general...RIP Henry.
Excellent comment- summed up Henry perfectly. I was born in 1970, when Henry retired. I was in junior school in the late 70's, and every school boy knew who Henry Cooper was, and that he he knocked Muhammed Ali down in his prime- years before we were born. He was a sporting hero to us, along with Ali, James Hunt, Barry Sheen and Nikki Lauda- all great sportsmen and real characters. To this day, I think he is still the most respected and loved British boxer, only Frank Bruno comes close- another great sportsman, humble and modest and very affable like Henry. Henry was the salt of the earth, a very likeable man, and as you allude to, today's sportsman would do well to follow Henry Cooper's example in terms of how they conduct themselves. He was always a gentleman, a great sportsman and respected his opponents. To put the top hat on it, the man drove a Jenson Interceptor, so he was a man of fine taste! Apparently, he visited the Jenson factory a number of times, and always received a fantastic welcome from the workers. A PROPER bloke!

An enjoyable video about an enjoyable man. Henry Cooper was a very good (but under-sized) heavyweight and was much greater as a man. He was a gentleman and classy individual. Modern boxing needs a man like Henry Cooper.
16:19 Cooper was lucky not to get disqualified in this fight. He hit Erskine as he was getting up from a knockdown. He clouted Erskine after the bell. It was disgraceful. He made Marciano look like a clean fighter.
@@ppuh6tfrz646 he beat Ali and got cheated out of the win. They cut Ali's gloves to give him more time to recover between rounds and gave Ali illegal smelling salts. There, you've been told. Boy.

Class, Great Boxer, A Gentleman RIP Henry
The true legend of British boxing. I'm amazed at how relaxed and gentle he was. RIP.

I couldn't agree more. A real class act. The modern day "icons" could learn a lot form some of the sportsmen/women of the past.

Don't know why but Henry's casual greeting to his Wife 'How ya keeping ?...alright?' on 26mins 40secs cracks me up.
Thank you for posting this.
What a lovely man compared to todays flash boys.
26:35 Wow, Cooper got back home quickly.
He must have been fighting Mildenberger in his back garden!
God Bless Our 'enry❤
Cheated should been disqualified and Cooper champ 🏆 rules are rules
What year was this?
I'm guessing 1983 or 1984 from the reference to Jones fighting McCrory.
22:11 Nine months, not eighteen months.
1:51 Wrong.
He relinquished it in the late 60's and won it back in 1970.
Technically Cooper one that they messed with time n glove like they do ,
17:24 He didn't win the European title until 1964.
23:39 7,000 not 30,000.
I never got the split glove thing in real time Ali don’t take any longer to get off the stool
O único que derrubou Ali duas vezes

He clouted Erskine after the bell.
It was disgraceful.
He made Marciano look like a clean fighter.
Hendry cooper maestro is this a joke
Cooper was a good figher but he wasn't a 'maestro' or a 'master sportsman'.
Looking at all your comments, it seems you only came here to disagree with absolutely everything.
