All i can think of is there seems to be an issue with swapping 09a boxes and using same wires from old auto to new auto. So probably run new wires as i described if the old can wires dont work properly👍
I loved your video. Tons of great information. I can’t believe you guys have to order the axles from USA, I’m amazed there’s not a dsg mk4 fwd option in Europe. I know you guys got mk4 dsg r32 but obviously the axles won’t work with fwd setup. So glad to see other guys doing this swap, I have done 20k miles on my swap and no issues.
Thats awesome to hear man it makes me super happy! Yeah the only mk4 platform we got in Europe was the r32 and that was 4motion and other than that the beetle tdi dsg is the only mk4 platform dsg i know of is there any other?
Great videos mate, watched all of them now, still a little confused about wiring for the brake and reverse, don’t know if over thinking it or what, but keep imagining it not being able to stop 😂 … keep putting it off as don’t want to fudge it up 😂 i’ve taken my engine out now, fitted gearbox, just going to touch up the engine bay a bit then hopefully fit it for good then do the wiring but hoping to do that in a day or 2
Aah no worries it signals via can haha, and depending on if you have the big or small ABS system it works abit differently but it still works👍 unless you have the old can system then it doesnt work with the ecu at all

The biggest difference is the drivetrain itself and rear axle, the golf awd has a completely different rear body/ no spare tire etc to fit awd system so if you want to convert to awd you would need the whole rear floor plan from a awd and Weld on if not going completely custom with tube floor 👍

Nice video, also want to give a tip. If you have the wrong abs, the wrong speed will be send. First gear will be very long and then limb mode from dq250. Just unplug abs and it will run fine. After that you can swap to abs mk60. Also service the box and vcds to calibrate the clutch and gears.

Yeah it is, the old variant before ”standard” and ”street” version, not sure on km but had it on and tuned at 360 for ~3 years but it’s singing its last song right now😂 not sure if it’s because bad quality or because i removed the dump valve lol
i think the turbo is not so good quality hahaha. i have the same one my old/spare 1.8t engine because the stock turbo was broken. i only gone use that engine and turbo for putting a volkswagen caddy on registration with 1.8t engine. after that i swap in my forged 1.8t engine. but best thing to do for you if the turbo goes broken is buy a original garret gtx2871 gen2 turbo or a g25-550. spool time is wayyyy better than the maxspeedingrod turbo. i think you have 1bar boost before 3500rpm with the garrett ones, and it goes easy over 450hp. but watchout with youre stock connectingrods.

when you see 1bar with the maxspeedingrods turbo? with the g25 you have to run a forged/build engine (pistons,rods,bearings,exhaustvalves,arpbolts), or do you have it already?
Hi there i want to do this dsg on a mk1. I am guessing that most of what you have given is the same? I am also goong to use ecu master black. One thing most guys in my country are struggling with is the gear changes, they saying that it will only change if u change manually. Do you know if there is a module or something we missing to get the auto changes to work?
As far as i know the gearbox decides when to change gears and it has internal speed and rpm for engine so not sure why it would not work…are they running with can aswell or completely separate from eachother?

@@robertg5754 yeah so you are not doing 1.8t swap then, maybe you can see if 2.0 has same boltpattern as 1.8t, if you can switch gearboxes between this there shouldnt be an issue, i saw someone that installed a ABS unit just to get can signal between ecus to make it work with dsg but not sure wich one, as dsg would need ABS signal etc

So; Mk7 GTI gearbox is also labeled as a DQ250. But 8 bolt flywheel from Mk6 onwards and runs an MQB Immobilized Mech unit. Mk5/Mk6 gearbox is what you want. DQ500 is RS3 and TTRS stuff. The Mk5 GTI flywheels work fine as the 2.0 petrol EA113 runs a 6 bolt crank instead of the newer 8 bolt. Not just TDI flywheel as far as parts! Don't be worried about the different Pilot bearings. They all fit despite some being domed capped back and others being hollow. My 6 speed 02M Driveshafts fit but I also run ball joint spacers. They wouldn't fit without them!
@@RedBaronGarage 100%, Same way you can fit a TFSI crank into a 1.8T for 2.0 Stroker! Only change is the 1.8T oil pump gear! It's the Flywheel I'm running on mine as I was worried about the interaction between a TDI Flywheel and a TFSI gearbox. Part numbers are different even between Mk5 TDI/TSI. But I've been assured that's not the case. My 02M ran a TDI flywheel and starter motor.

That’s an excellent question actually! I totally forgot about that. Rpm Will work like normal but you need to code the cluster to read speed through can instead of speed sensor on the gearbox. Now i have not Done that yet because it seems like you need a specific cluster with display to be able to eeprom code it! When i have solved that i Will make a video on that but for now i got a speed gauge that works via can for now!

I‘m currently swapping a dq200 for the dq250, but after connecting CAN high and low as well as power, ground and ignition. The module is not able to communicate with vcds, while all other modules work. Any ideas?
@@RedBaronGarage it's from an Audi TT 8J OE: 02E 301 107 AH AK S the year I don't know. I have an Audi A3 8V 1.8TFSI from 2014. So the DQ200 has an immobilizer. Maybe the mechatronics is broken...
that sounds odd, it could be that the a3 is too new it doesnt have the old ME7.5 can system as far as i know atleast so maybe the dsg doesnt understand the can line.
I have a 5 speed in my b6 would a 6 speed handle more power? I have done 0 research. I don’t even know if I can swap a 6 speed in it. Thank you for any replies
Not sure on the passat platform, as they are longitudinally mounted and not transverse. But on transverse its true the 6 speed is stronger 👍 (Edit b6 passats are transverse but audis are longitudinal still!)

I am from Europe.This Audi have small extra bigger dsg cooler, intercooler pipes, front mount intercooler, gt28rs garret turbo big 3 inch downpipe @~1000kg and semi slicks in front. In few days will import it to my home country , probably my will be 2nd DSG freak 🤣
Do you have the part number of the selector lever. I ordered the thin version but my dsg wouldn't communicate with it. It worked with the thick version.

Hey! If you are also running 4motion probably as the diff should be the same but if you are 2wd dont think so as housing is different on the diff. Also i think there are both ”old” dq500 and ”new” for the mqb platform and im not sure they work with stock ecu

Is the 09a transmission wiring Similar to dq250 transmission
I actually dont know what wiring the 09a has. The dsg has a T20 connector thats round tho

ECS has aftermarket and OEM options, part numbers should be 1J0407271NH and 1J0407272MJ
