    All of these guys can beatbox. They have insane vocals. There is absolutely no a capella group out there like these guys. In the lead was Austin Brown.

    Though published in 1913 by Dick Burnett, who did not compose it, this song is a very old American Folk Song. It is unknown who originally composed it but Burnett definitely did not. It was old when published - he just put it to paper - which then enabled him to earn from its use. Prior to that it was learned "by ear" having originated in & around the hills of Kentucky, Tennessee and thereabouts.

    This is one of the most popular Home Free songs. It was the first song I ever heard from Home Free & I was instantly hooked. It really showcases the talent of these 5 men (their tight harmonies, Tim Foust's bass & Adam Rupp's incredible beatboxing). They are my favorite a cappella group. This song is very old (about 100 yrs.) & is done in the bluegrass country style. It was used in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" starring George Clooney.

    It was raining so it’s rain on Tim and rain on Rob’s clothes. You were showing a picture of Adam Chance with the note that it was Rob. Rob (glasses) is a tenor. Adam Chance (we call Chance so as not to confuse him with Adam Rupp. Chance is the baritone/bass. Adam is the crazy beatboxer. Austin (redhead) is the high tenor and Tim is the bass with 5 octave range. (Check out Tim with the Bass Gang doing Hooked on a Feeling). It’s great!

      It's a form of throat singing, like the Mongolian throat singing shown on some videos out there. It should be recognized that they use a looper to continue the sound because it hurts and wears out his voice.

    This song dates from at least as far back as 1913 in Kentucky. A lot of people/groups have recorded it, including Earl Scruggs, Bob Dylan, and many others. In my opinion, Home Free's version is the best by a significant margin.

    The original recording of this was somewhere around 1925, so it’s highly unlikely you’ve heard it. Also, Tim is a basso profundo, not a baritone, although he can sing all the way up to tenor. Chance is using a Mongolian throat-singing effect for the mouth harp sound

  • @audreyjohnson4599
    @audreyjohnson4599 9 місяців тому +2

    Rob Lundquist is a tenor. Austin Brown is a high tenor, Adam Chance (Chance) is a baritone/tenor (4 octaves), Tim Foust is bass up to tenor (5 octaves) and Adam Rupp, beatboxer and tenor when he sings with the others.

    Across the front - Rob Lundquist, tenor; Austin Brown, high tenor; Tim Faust, bass. Back row Adam Chance (gies by Chance) baritone/bass; Adam Rupp, tenor and beatboxer. That sound you commented on was made by Adam Chance. Sounds like a jaw harp or jew harp as some call it. The technique is Mongolian throat singing, difficult to do.

    Yes, Adam Chance (the baritone) is making those sounds. All of them can do some beat boxing. And just a note -- Tim (the bass) has a 5-octave range, and can hit the high notes just as well as the super-low notes.

  • @teresacartwright5406

    You've just watched the best acapella band around. They're all vocal chameleons, the beatboxer (Adam Rupp) is top tier, 3 of them are song writers. They sing (and write) almost every genre from gospel to goofy (including an opera aria duet). They each have channel(s) and side projects = you can't run out of content! Bonus: you'll find your subscriptions rise exponentially playing the acapella bands!

    You can beatbox like Adam Rupp - just put in the 20-something years of practice he has. Okay, that may still not get you there - or maybe you could go further. There is a tale of a fan saying to a professional pianist that she wishes she could play like he does, and he replied "You can - just practice ten hours a day for 35 years, as I have." (numbers may have been different, but are in the right range). We all want the end result, but few of us would want to put in the practice time it takes.
