Yes, this is so "him", this is a Tim Foust, original. It was filed shortly after they had done Ring Of Fire, featuring Avi Kaplan so Avi was still around to do his little cameo, still wearing the cowboy hat he put on at the end of Ring Of Fire. Love your enthusiasm reacting to Home Free.
When he wrote this Foust had a cushy job in LA writing and producing pop songs for a millionaire. His boss had just made a deal with people in Nashville and told Tim he was to write only Country songs from there on. He went home and starting drinking. He decided to write the most red neck song he could imagine. This was that song. He is amazed that it continues to be one of Home Free’s most popular songs. Post script: They filmed this at the same time they did Ring of Fire with Avi Kaplan. That is why Avi is present to do a quick cameo toward the end of the video.
This song is followed, story-wise, by Full of Cheer. Yes, it it a Christmas song, but who cares? It's terrific any time of the year. And seeing Tim running around in those bright red kiddie style PJs is such a treat.
If you want to see a Home Free video done in one take, with the guys running around behind the camera to get their new spot check out their mashup Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get it One (Ed Sheeran and Marvin Gaye) The couple are fellow performers and good friends.
This song is an original written by Tim.
Beat me to the comment, I appreciate it. I'm not sure if you noticed, but Avi made an appearance at the end. :3
And written as a joke when Tim Was passed about being shoehorned into writing stuff he wasn't keen on.
written _and_ recorded
Tim is from Texas, so a southern accent mixed with a Texas twang is natural for him.
IMHO...to really hear Tim's range, from his solo album, "Pieces of Me"...check out: "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow"....
She should do “Mayday” first. That’s the order they were released and makes sense in terms of seeing a progression.
It hadn't occurred to me whistling is a special talent, but Rob is the whistle master in several songs, and also does rap and sings opera! Mr. Versatile.
Opera as well?!
@@AlisonReacts Find "Two Country Singers Try To Sing Opera" on Austin Brown's channel.
😍
How can you not smile when watching that? What a fun video! This is an original song that Tim wrote. These guys know how to have fun without compromising their vocals. Rob is great with his whistling & love Adam's vocal percussion. Fun seeing Avi Kaplan doing a cameo in this.
Yup, whistling, a lost art.
Rob's whistling is wondrous!
The story behind this song is hilarious: Many years ago Tim's employer told him to write a country song but he didn't want to. So he came up with the "worst" (his words) country song he could think of--and to this day it is one of his most popular originals 😆
#HomeFree
Tim the bass wrote this after a goo drunk !!!
Some ideas to know voices better- Quarantine, Down to the Honky Tonk both show all voices, End of the Road, When a Man Loves a Woman, I can't outrun you, Brothers in Arms (after these Mayday)
I recommend ( Dive Bar Saints and Moonshine and My Church)
My first UA-cam reaction video was a Home Free song, so it was an intro to both at the same time. Have not looked back since- no reason to. People always say that Tim wrote this original song when he was drunk. That his boss at a company or label requested a country tune. I’d say that’s a great composition for having a few in him. And it’s just pure fun.
Tim tells the story that he wrote this in a snit after his boss at the time told him he had to write a country song. He went home, drank a bottle of whiskey and then wrote this.
Yeah, Tim spent the first part of his career avoiding Country music like the plague. He felt like he had grown up with Country music but, he considered it his parent's music so he didn't want to have anything to do with it.
However, fate kept dragging him back to Country.
1. There was the "You are going to write Country music" from his boss that inspired this song.
2. Years later when he joined Home Free and they were auditioning for The Sing Off and the producers were telling them "You guys should switch to Country music and we guarantee you will get a spot on the show because we haven't seen anyone do Country in a capella.
They thought about it and realized that a good portion of the songs they were already doing were Country (Your Man, God Bless the USA, etc) so he finally gave in and they were labeled Country for the show.
Some suggestions for future Home Free reviews are: Brother, Quarantine, Helplessly Hoping, Everybody Walking This Land, Amazed, and the list goes on.
From the second the video starts there’s a lot of symbolism… Rob whistling and paddling without a paddle “up a creek without a paddle”! Love is blind and she’s out there just spending his money like it’s never gonna end… I love the ending races I’ll never see your pretty face because it’s supposed to nowhere near the mall… Meaning she’s going to keep on shopping for ever while he’s even in prison! I love the cameo appearance by Avi! He agreed to that while they were making the video of ring of fire… I love how the a cappella groups are very supportive of each other lol!
For more comedy and whistling, try Quarantine - Tim wrote the lyrics and used the tune of Billy Joel's Honesty. This came out fairly soon after the start of lockdown and was part of a series of videos they filmed separately and then edited together (the team, not HF specifically). They kept up releasing a new video every two weeks during the entirety of lockdown, and it was really a big morale boost for those feeling isolated. The whole series gave the "We're all in this together, so let's make the most of it" feeling.
Alison, you make really great HF reactions. I hope that you can continue to do more HF's reactions. This was written by Tim.
All you need is to watch Some Girls Do and you will be ready for Mayday. You might want to give a listen to Cam's original version first, too. There's a reason, I just can't tell you why before you watch Home Free's version.
I love that you were thinking about production, I'm from a tech background and think of the same things. This is not a true one-shot video, but they do have one, it's the Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get it On mash-up. That one is a fun choreographic dance between camera, actors, and crew. One Man Band is also a one shot, if I recall correctly, just less complicated.
Every time I watch this one I am amazed that the things that get thrown around (beer (an open one, no less), bags...) are spot on and part of a continuous segment.
Your enthusiasm for Home Free simply adds to the great fun of watching them do what they do so well -- making us happy! I personally think you are ready for "Mayday" -- you've got Tim's role figured out. But ask yourself if you're sure what role the other 4 have in the HF arrangements. Singularly, they are each artists -- together they perform magic.
You’re probably familiar enough with these guys to do “Mayday”
In that video, left to right, Rob - Adam - Tim - Chance - Austin.
Or more fun, “Country Fried Pop Medley”, “Butts Remix” or “Hillbilly Bone”
This is so hilarious! Tim is so very talented as they all are. Avi's cameo was awesome! Love your reaction! ♥
Tim wrote it and there’s a funny story about it. He was in LA writing songs when his boss came to him and asked him to write a country song which he didn’t want to do but the boss insisted so Tim got drunk and wrote this in one night and it became a hit. Too funny! 😍 I love the lyrics “I won’t see her pretty face at all since the prison’s no where near the mall”. Have to love that!
Tim wrote a kind of Christmas followup called "Full of Cheer ".
Oh, yeah…a Texas boy…Tim original….too Funnnn 🔥❤️🔥🔥‼️….Hes such a goofball 🙃🔥❤️🔥‼️🥴😜
Why have I just discovered your channel !!!??? Dang. Well, I'm going to go back and watch all the others you've reacted to. Thanks for reacting to the guys. Sincerely, A Genuine Home Free.
I agree with some comments above saying watch their " Some Girls Do " then you'll be ready for" Mayday. " thanks for the Home Free reactions
You might like their "Butts Remix"...
#HOMEFREE
Love the reaction, Avi is perched on the bull in the background at the end.
Fun reaction!
❤🤠#HomeFree.😂😅 Fun song. Great reaction. 🏠🍟
Loved your reaction! Hit subscribe for more HF reactions!!❤
👍👍Great, fun performance!! 🖖❤
#HOMEFREE...so fun!
Nessun Dorman is one of my favorites. If you want your heart to be filled and your soul to be thrilled, watch this video. It was made very popular by Luciano Pavarotti. You will hear colors in every stanza. You will see joy and passion. I have watched this 100 times. Rob takes the lead on this and he will blow you away.
Another fun vid by hf is “brother” .beautiful song but fiun video. Home free and larping, cant go wrong lol
Love Home Free and their good friends from the Sing-Off VoicePlay. They are the #TheatreKidsOfACapella who does everything themselves. Filming, editing, Directing, lighting, arrangements, costumes, set, and props. My top two favorite Acapella groups.
well done sweets
Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget it is a good song by Tim. The harmonies are great and Home Free is the best group. Home Free is my favorite group. Adam is the best beatboxer. 😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love the way, a second after Avi walks by, Tim very briefly looks after him like "wait, don't I know that guy?" and then quickly gets back to the song.
I have been a fan of Home Free and of Pentatonix (PTX) since they were both on “The Sing Off”. If you haven’t don’t “Ring of Fire, you should. Avi Kaplan from PTX sings with them on that song. I love when Home Free does humorous songs. They are hilarious! 😂
I don’t know if you react to PTX or not, but if not PLEASE do so. They are the biggest acapella group ever. They’ve won Grammy’s and have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I don’t think any other acapella group has done that, but I will say imo, Home Free deserves them, too.
I “think” I am the one who started your Jung Kook solo reaction journey. At least that’s what I tell myself 😂😂❤. I did recommend you react to him. Anyways, I hope you will watch some, one or all of his live performances. His best vocals are his 3 iHeart performances: “SNTY”, “Hate You” and “Seven” (clean). There is a live band on these performances, but no backup dancers… JK handles it by himself just fine. 😊 also his Audacy radio performance is good. He sings four songs on that one. hope you check them out. If you want to know more about him and his role in BTS check out his interview with Apple and videos by Ida Smith: “JungKook the Main Vocalist of BTS” and “Jung Kook the Golden Maknae”. The last one showcases his many talents in drawing, painting, athletics, etc. he got the nickname, Golden Maknae (youngest), because he is good at almost everything he tries. As V says, most people start learning things at a base level and JK starts at an above average level.
Thank you so much for this comment! This is just what I need - I was absolutely JAMMMMMMING out to seven in the car this morning - it was on repeattttt! I haven’t stopped playing it since I reacted to it, sooo catchy. Thank you though for more suggestions on where to go with him next. I was just wondering what direction to go for Jungkook after SEVEN.
I do want to start properly going back to PTX, I know a few of their songs and videos but I haven’t heard them in a good few years and I’d love to take them in properly now.
Make sure you check out the ring of fire reaction I did for home free! Avi was just 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
Rob is a master whistler 😊
Tim wrote this
They just released a new version of Ring Of Fire and also on Friday they released a new fun video called Jump Right In.
Not ready for Mayday yet you have to do some Adam Chance leads.
Chance lead songs
Sea Shanty Medley
Skull And Bones ( original)
Workin For A Livin
Born In The USA
Winter Song
Some Girls Do
Cover Me Up ( special end message )
Can’t Outrun You
Dive Bar Saints ( Original)
Finally Free
Think A Little Less
Yours
Chances Solo work
If I Could Only Fly
Drivers License
Song For Home ( original)
The Man Who Can’t Forget ( Thom’s Song )
Mrs Potters Lullaby ( Newest release )
You're definitely ready for Mayday. Once you do that, you've "unlocked" Tim's doo wop solo songs.
Another group to try is "Voiceplay". The cover of the song "Hellfire" that they did is really good.
You're almost ready for "Mayday," but first you should try one with Chance singing lead. "Some Girls Do" ( ua-cam.com/video/LZWoDeTYugA/v-deo.html ) would be perfect. Or...try "Brothers in Arms" ( ua-cam.com/video/_ChD2WjD2tY/v-deo.html ). "Brothers in Arms" is a cover of Mark Knopfler's (Dire Straits) original. This one features both of HF's low voices, Tim and Chance. The song is a sombre reflection on the horrors of war, but their version is stunningly beautiful. (Tissue alert.) Before you check out HF's cover of "Mayday," it's a very good idea to listen to (reaction is optional) the original ( ua-cam.com/video/eRrCMEXPjWo/v-deo.html ) by female country vocalist Cam (Camaron Marvel Ochs.) As you watch Cam perform the song, ask yourself, "how can 5 men cover this song in exactly the same key?" Then...find out! 🙂
😂😂 #TimFoust 😂😂
This song does have an unofficial part 2 as well. I believe this was also a one take video.
Funny as hell 🤣 Loved the reaction as always 😊🔥
As long as you aren't confused about Chris/Chance in the videos (Chris prior to mid-2016, Chance after that), any order works. As of today there are 186 titles in the official video list plus a few others that they collaborated on - Peter Hollens' Amazing Grace, for example - and the Country Rebel "Church Sessions" ones.
The recommendation for Thinking Out Loud/Lets' Get it On as a one-shot is a good suggestion, but you might want to watch The Hound & The Fox's video for Thinking Out Loud first - it s a prequel of sorts and introduces the couple that star in the HF one.
I would like you to see the butts remix lmao
If you like the older journey of home free with comedy, check out country fried pop medley and butts remix.
If you like this sort of filming process I would recommend the video for Scottish band Chvrches’ song “Miracle” it’s got a really interesting one shot look.
You have to react to a song Called In my Room sung by the man himself Tim Foust, he does all the parts.
👉❤❤❤❤❤
I was checking you history vids you need to meet voice play accapella start there hoist the colors from pirates of the Caribbean oh Geoff castelluchi is the deep bass champ from voice play 🎉
Go ahead and do Mayday you are ready I think 😊
Great song hey you want to rattle plug in Geoff castelluchi deep bass cover of,I see fire, from the Hobbit movie and enjoy
I'm having a Claudia Black Fantasy , no worries...
i think you missed avi posing on the bull in the end haha.
Time for more fun: 9-5 and Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer by them.
Go for a newer original, try "Playing with Fire "! You will love it!!!
Before Home Free, Tim spent time writing and arranging for others. Someone hs already mentioned Full of Cheer, but another is Snow Globe.
Have you heard Brothers in Arms and Tim's colaberation with Peter Hollens on Misty Mountains? If so, you may be ready for Mayday.
I think you're ready for Mayday.
Please react to zayyan's cover of Gsoul's 'heart everything'. Zayyan is an Indonesian influencer who is now a member of the global kpop group Xodiac
You should check out voiceplay or Geoff castanucci
Believe Tim wrote this
After this reaction with some of your observations... you're ready for Mayday. Might I suggest you watch the original by Cam (not necessarily react) first to give you perspective on the song itself.
Since you like Tim, may I suggest a group called VoicePlay. They do cover many genres of music. Possibly start with Hellfire which feature Geoff Castellucci (group’s bass) in this song, or Nothing Else Matters. Both give you ideas of what each members can do…
You need to listen to Mayday
I hate to be told that I'm under qualified for something but if you really want to know ..., you'll have to get someone to tell you. If you haven't heard the original (by Cam) before you might want to listen to it to have something to compare to.
