I had a 2.4 turbo with stage one ECU. I miss that car so much. I can't find the vin to see who has it. I want my car back. I traded it in for a Jeep Wrangler. Which I still have. That convertible was fast and fun to drive.

Why I'm keeping mines and will get a few more to change out to digital displays
My built pt motor has wiseco pistons. Eagle rods. Full summit racing things. Darrel cox timing kits kevlar timing belt. Built performance 41te transmission. Billet torque converter 3" exhaust headers. Solid motor mounts. 245 wide 18 " tires. Traction concepts LSD.. empire oil adapter and 6 pass external oil cooler. Runs off 3 car batteries too. Transmission also has sonnex and transgo updates. Alto kevlar clutches. Recently built running royal purple in motor and royal purple atf max in transmission

People underestimate the 2.4 EDZ and EDT. They are definitely reliable engines.

Solid motor mounts. Wiseco pistons. LSD.. transgo and sonnax shift kits alto eagle clutches. Bigger transmission cooler. And external engine oil cooler 6 pass empi oil cooler adapter. Use royal purple...

One of the biggest problems I found with the PT Cruiser was the oil filter arms coming off the oil pan (breaking off) some really weak composite aluminum for this part and if the plastic skid plate comes off the car all it takes is one rock hit in the right place and bye-bye oil filter and 3 quarts of oil on the ground, fixed mine with a oil filter relocation kit and tap the holes on the oil pan for line fittings

I am subed and tuned in. Found out today my 2001 PT must have the head problem. It started idling like crap. So it can't be the bottom end But it has almost 300k on it. And YUP. And overheat a while back. So its time for a new head.

The biggest downfall is the t850 in general, using brass parts to "protect"the rest of the transmission, except the brass Parts wear terribly and end up catastrophically damaging the transmission anyway. I finally said screw it and bought one from f w d for 2600 , so far so good after 800 miles. Driving it up to Mopar cars in the park in Minnesota in a couple weeks yeah, we'll see how it goes

Hell yeah ...thanks for watching and the t850 felt great in the pt gt when i drove ir

Thats awesome i have FWD doing a trans for me as well. Its the Liberty shaft with 1/2 straight cut. Little more than 2600 bucks but hoping it does me well.

So I guess there's coolant blasting in from the water jacket through that crack in the head. That's brutal. I had a guy ask me about welding a crack at the wastegate hole on his turbofold. A couple guys said it's not that big of a deal there. I agree for stock boost, but I bet the car wasn't running stock boost when that crack formed. What do you guys think? Weld, or leave it, or scrap it? Lol. I like to think of random things to comment. Every comment has the potential to branch off into whole conversations. Every comment is good for the channel.

    • @YostBuilt

Id say weld ...that crack will be changing boost control at all times the bigger and bigger it gets

Just found the channel.. i have a 04 and it'll has 100psi on all cylinder but #2 and it like 80psi compression.. i changed the oil and found a couple magnet specs.. just curious if it easier to find a motor or rebuild this one. I've never rebuilt a motor and the filler gauge and ring gaps is what makes me nervous about doing that!! And 💡 ideas

Hey bro, loving the content. Wanted to ask you, whats the preferred way in setting a engine back into the bay, just wanted to see what your preferred method is. I have taken a engine out from the bottom of car and it was rough for me since I have to work in gravel driveway.. I have a 95 accord and swapped a f23a into it, and now I'm putting in a f23a5 block with f22b1 head and k20a2 pistons.

    • @YostBuilt
      @YostBuilt  3 роки тому +2

On gravel ...id say cherry picker and from the top so you have alot more control of the engine and trans

@@YostBuilt awesome 👌 yeah with the cherry picker for me its hell on wheels moving it around on gravel... I had the picker tip over one time and the bottom two legs was luckly still underneath the car and caught it from slamming the f23a onto the ground.. lol.. but I use the bars from a floor jack and wedge it under the cherry picker and row it like a boat just to get it to where I need it.. its hard but it works lmfao.. all this work and my f23 still ended up with a spun bearing.. well I'm almost 90 percent sure its a spun bearing.. got the motor out of the car and waiting to throw the other f23a5 block with f22b1 head and k20a2 pistons back in the car but out of nowhere I caught a freaking nasty ass cold bro.. and my whole family is sick now even my little dogs are throwing up.. lol.. they seemed to be running around today and eating their food a bunch today so hopefully they will be ok.. but as soon as I'm back to full health, I'm jumping all over the motor swap.. thanks again brotha and keep the content coming. Maybe a single jingle build in the future next time? Say all motor f23? I mean no one really has done it I've seen.. well on the streets anyway.. I've seen some people on UA-cam but there like all out fully pros not your average mechanics with average budgets lolol

I have a 2003 pt gt. With 5 speed, the transmission makes a bearing noise while in gear but shifts and drives good. 4th and 5th gear are super loud though. Could this be the hydraulic throw out bearing?

    02 pt non turbo
    Parked it for three weeks.
Went to start it and bent the valves. Car ran fine when I parked it. Local mechanic said it had lots of carbon buildup.
    Your thoughts?

I'm considering a PTGT engine for a rwd swap. I've the Liberty bellhousing flywheel and an Aisin AR5 trans. Any particular year PT to look for? Probably going aftermarket PCM with the later 36-2 tone wheel. (Perhaps that's the wrong# but not the early 7 tooth unit)

Valves won't hit the pistons on stock cams. I delete the oil cooler and run a big filter with double gasket in fear of oil pump stress.
