  • Is your Power Outlet (12 volt DC Auxiliary Power Socket) (or Cigarette Lighter) not working on your Jeep Wrangler JK or JKU? It may be the 20 Amp fuse. This fuse is found in the M6 fuse position in the fuse box under the hood. This SHORT video is only how to find and replace the Power Outlet fuse. NOTE: The Inverter fuse is not on this video but is replaced the same way and can be found on the fuse diagram at the top of the box (this fuse is normally located around M7 position).
    There is a fuse removal tool in your Fuse Box which is shown on this video, otherwise use your own removal tool. Always be careful working around electrical components and do not do this while the Jeep is running. This is for informational purposes only for fuse location. If you are not experienced, do not do this without professional help. Contact your service provider if you have any questions. #Jeep #JeepWrangler #jeeps ‪@JohnsJeepGarage‬

    Will this also fix the power outlet located in the center console? Or is there another one for that one?

    This is all Greek to me, BUT thanks to your simple - no music - great camera angles video, I now know where the fuses are!
    Question: I purchased a dash/rear Blackvue camera. I currently have it plugged into the dash cigarette lighter plug. So, it goes on and off with the ignition. I don't want to hard wire it in order to get parking mode. I'm wondering if I ran the cable to the the center console cigarette lighter, since it stays on continuously, would that be a big enough drain on the battery to worry about? Or would it be a good idea to unplug it while parked in the garage? Thank you.

      I don't know the type of camera you have but I would say if you connect it directly it will drain your power when parked over a period of time. You should call the vendor to get more details and a suggestion on the best place to connect it. I don't do fuse taps often but this may be exactly what you want. Possibly tapped into the ACC fuse so you can have it on each time you start the car. I don't have a video on fuse taps but I did include one on here to give you more basic info about what this means.

    Weird question could I fuse tap here to add a pod switch panel with 4 rocker switches?

    • @JohnsJeepGarage
      @JohnsJeepGarage  2 роки тому

      Thank you for watching. I have run a single install source with tapping, such as Halo lights, but not a switch pod. I have seen it tied in directly to the battery with a fuse within the wiring connection. So I am not the expert with this. I have however attached another video from another UA-cam source which may help you or offer a point of reference. I hope this helps.

    Do you know of anyway to make it so the 12v DC can stay on with out the car needing to be on for a 2010 jeep Patriot

    • @JohnsJeepGarage
      @JohnsJeepGarage  2 роки тому

      I don't know the wiring for a Jeep Patriot specifically but you can look up videos on how to do this in general for vehicles. Using ACC Power (connecting) allows the power to work on some accessories when the key is turned to ACC power position just before starting the motor position. There are more specifics on this on UA-cam.

    I have a 2015 Jeep Wrangler with this same issue. I've replaced the fuse several times, but it keeps burning out every time me I turn the outlet button on. Any idea of what problem could be... Thanks in Advance!

    • @JohnsJeepGarage
      @JohnsJeepGarage  2 місяці тому +1

      Sorry to hear that. Thank you for watching. This video as you know is specifically for the fuse for the cigarette lighter outlet, but if I understand, it seems that the inverter outlet that you can plug an extension cord into keeps blowing the fuse when you toggle the button. There is a short somewhere based on your description. If it immediately burns out once you toggle it on, I would trace the wires from the inverter as well as the switch to see if any wire is exposed or not connected correctly.
      I could tell you to buy a new inverter module outlet, which may be the right solution, but I would hate for you to do that when it may be something in the wires. At the same time, the module may be the issue as well.

      @@JohnsJeepGarage yeah, it's the inverter outlet but when it blows that fuse the lighter outlets stop working as well. But i'll see if I can trace the wires and see what is going on. Thank you!

      yeah its actually the Inverter outlet that keeps blowing the fuse and the cigarette outlets stop working as well. I'm gonna see if I can trace the wires and see if that's the problem. Thank you!

    Center console power outlet is not working but the fuse is fine (M36). Any clues how to find info on how to replace the outlet?

    • @JohnsJeepGarage
      @JohnsJeepGarage  Рік тому

      The power outlet switched needs to be pressed each time you start the car. I assume you know this, if not, it is on the lower panel on the dash in front of the automatic or manual transmission. An outlet design is on the button. If this has been pressed and the fuse is good, then there is another electrical problem that needs troubleshooting (switch, wiring, etc.).

      Sorry, I just saw this because it was a reply to a comment. I would have to trouble shoot the wiring and possible connection issues. But ... there is a video that may help by someone on UA-cam: "Jeep JK Wipers and Headlights Turn Themselves On - TIPM Issues Definitive Guide". That was the title between the quotes. Without being able to see it, maybe this video has some suggestion to help.

    I have a 2018 Jeep JK Sport and I bought it two months ago. I have a 12 volt DC outlet where yours in on the lower dash and I have a hole at three o'clock from the DC outlet. To the left of the Hazard flashers and dummy buttons. I see that you have something there. What is that? I have a empty hole? Is there wiring in the dash for another 12 volt DC plug or USB charger to be installed and plugged in?

    • @JohnsJeepGarage
      @JohnsJeepGarage  9 місяців тому

      Thank you for watching. Those are other options. One is Jeep's Selec-Speed Control, often referred to as Hill Descent Control (HDC). Imagine a cruise control feature for descending down hills. The other is turning the limited slip differential (traction control) feature on or off.

    • @old_5-O
      @old_5-O 9 місяців тому +1

      @@JohnsJeepGarage Thanks. I have 2 more buttons on both sides of the Hazard flashers. Hill descent and traction control on the buttons. Then the hole on the opposite side of my 12 volt dc plug. I thought it was for usb charger. Or maybe there was a dummy cover there to cover the hole and the previous owner lost it. I would send you a picture but I don't think that can be done here. I guess I am going to try and wire in another 12 volt dc outlet, I was hoping there would be wires there for that already.

    I have a 2017 JK and neither power outlet is working. I replaced the M6 which was blown but it didn't fix the power for either power outlet. Do I have something fried in the wiring or are there additional fuses to check? thanks!
    For additional context, I was running an air pump for inflatable beds and the first power outlet stopped working so I tried the other one and then it stopped working too. I know this was dumb as it was drawing too much current but I was in a pickle and HAD to get these things inflated. So... I'm not sure if I fried the wiring or if there are just more fuses to check. thanks for any help to whoever reads this!
