When you finally get comfortable around a friend and unmask, but every friend you've had in the past has dropped you, so you're not able to fully trust anymore
It's crazy how a song takes you to a time and place in your life. I listened to this song on an airplane to visit my friend and Boise Idaho. He died of cancer 8 hours before I landed to visit him. RIP Cary Benson. This song will forever remind me of you
😭 Cancer sucks!!! I’m sorry you had to experience that… I know how that feels. I lost my oldest brother to bile duct and liver cancer in last year 8/28. He didn’t make it a year to thanksgiving. I had a feeling I should’ve went Friday night because Saturday morning I was supposed to drive up to be with family and say goodbye but I got a call from my dad at 2am saying his breathing was shallow and I jumped up put my son in the car and drove as fast as I could and he passed 15 minutes after. I just remember screaming in rage and just kept rushing. That is a feeling like no other when you were too late to say goodbye.
Fleet Foxes is a brilliant band with brilliant writing and talent. Sadly, they are also underrated and under appreciated. But I hope they are happy and have found that balance of profession and personal life.
@@vivisectiondrag okay dad lol. I can tell what type of day you’ve had lol bless up. There’s levels to this you will Learn... taking time out of your” valuable” day for negative comments lol.... I feel bad so bless up
This album could not have come at a more important time for me. I just started a huge new job and I'm trying to keep making music and being creative while I work 45 hours a week for less than minimum wage for the first time in my life... It's been so god damn hard to stay with it.... I really needed some new inspiring tunes and what do you know, new FF album. Thankfully I was able to purchase the vinyl for my collection as I would never miss a masterpiece like this. Thank you Robin, and thank you to everyone who made this music possible.
Always remember creativity shines through during the toughest of situations and times I'm also a musician and was really struggling this year had a brain tumor removed two weeks ago and I was scared that they might remove the music from my brain but after all was said and done the music came back and with inspiration I have not felt in a long time my point being stay strong and make time for your craft no matter how tired you are its often in those times of tired delirium where the good stuff is found good luck man ✌
I completely relate. I just started a job last month doing something completely unrelated to my field because I happened to graduate from college in May, in the midst of the pandemic. It has been so difficult doing something I really don’t want to do just to get by. I know I’m not the only one in this situation, but it is hard because everyone around me had such high expectations. But these things are out of my control for the time being. This album was released at the perfect time. It just feels like a breath of fresh air. Anyways, I wish you the best!
@@gonzbry7272 Back when this song was being written, Robin sent out the chords / notes for the background for fans to send in their own demos that eventually ended up in a giant chorus of instruments and voices. The backing track of this song was made by all of us :)
This song reminds me of my struggles believing Jesus. I believe so many lies it’s hard to tell who’s telling the truth. It’s been a challenge to stay unmoved. I don’t have the ability within myself to do it. Jesus truly is the rock of foundation.
I followed the process of birth of this song, Robin asking on instagram to send him snippets of the choirs made with voice or any instruments, then some stories with developing in studio. I already knew this would have been a masterpiece
@@matt25675 actually I don't think so, but it was asked to send vocal or instrument takes of the riff, and he once put them together and it was very beautiful. i think he had to choose something for the studio cut because tracks were way too much
The harmonies chorus or whatever you call it, from 2:33-2:56 is so good. Quite magical. It's like he's slightly warped the sound of this part in the production and given it just the right tone and mood. It' gives it an edge while being soothing at the same time.
It was so cool seeing the call for vocals on Instagram for this one and how they were incorporated into the song. Loving the new album! Thank you for making 2020 a little brighter.
Its been a really rough year for all of us. I wasn't expecting this album I didn't even know they were working on one. I do feel this is what I personally needed this year. I loved these guys back in highschool. Robin's voice definitely brings me some peace.
i love LOVE the use of symbolic flowers. so meaningful to me in a way i can’t describe. fleet foxes was there for me during my parent’s divorce, this music is very dear to my heart.
My favorite band, their music will just take you somewhere magical: a misty forest full of fireflies, an endless desert of salt, a shoreline covered with bluish to green planktons and anywhere you feel free and most connected with nature. I usually listen to Fleet Foxes' music when I'm painting. 🙏🏽 One day ill make an art inspired by one of their songs. Perhaps the Shrine or Isles.
These lyrics are just so unreal and beautiful to me, especially on Sunblind and Can I Believe You. They capture so much emotion in their music, I am blown away by this album.
I heard that melding of voices and it spoke to me immediately and then the lyrics went on to describe every trepidation, insecurity and trust issue I've come to know as making me who I am. If you're Canadian and love music and you're not listening to CBC radio 2, you're missing out on gems like this.
Simply Angelic as always takes your stress away and hits you right in your emotions and takes you higher out off the darkness puts it's arms around you and tells you everything is alright 😌
This is brilliant in my opinion. Absolutely brilliant. Just stunning..Lovely, enchanting, a fine return from these sensitive gents... I have loved FF since their debut album was released many years back. However, this really is a cracking track...
It might seem a bit pedantic to say this, but a lot of folk in this newer generation seems fake. It emulates nature and the rustic aesthetic, but never truly portrays the experience. Fleet Foxes is one of those artists that can TRULY show you how nature would feel in art form. Not just the beauty of it like many modern folk artists love to romanticize about, but also the abruptness, the natural feeling of death and pain that nature also hits you with. It isn't just beautiful, it has thorns, and will readily present you with torn carcasses and the desperate need for food/water in a survival situation. It isn't just a pretty cabin in the woods, you have to go through the painful process of survival to reach that point, but even in those moments, you can learn to appreciate that struggle nature gives you. To me, Fleet Foxes fantastically personifies that feeling and aesthetic through song, which is very impressive and something I feel many other folk artists fail to capture.
An ad for this album, with this song, played every time I watched a gameplay video of Among Us. I still laugh every now and then as I'm listening to this.
*Chris Bear from Grizzly Bear is drumming on this record?* Hot fuck Bear is a chronically underrated drummer, the subtlety of his playing, especially on the earlier grizzly bear records, is masterful and unique. Drums as pulse + texture
Music from the heavens, they blew me over with something mystical and magical in 08 and my oh my they have done it again, perfect, beyond superb. FF love yah man.

Fleet Foxes and autumn- best combo ever!!
So true !

And now the vinyl will officially be released around the spring equinox, lol pure irony

Do not ever allow anyone to tell you that amazing music died in the 70s. I was there, and now I am here. Holy shit. This is masterful.
I agree! We had great music but we have great music now. And this is one of those bands.
