Gasp, it was me! I created Windows RG almost 20 years ago! So glad people still remember it after all this time. RIP forever Flash, we'll never forget you
Gotta give credit to that piece of satire at 3:48, it aged particularly well in an era where Windows 10 crippled the legacy Control Panel to an unrecognizable mess lol.
I first explored these Flash parodies in 2011 and used to play them every day. Over time they got boring so I stopped. It's good to see these still alive!
@@TheStarscouts its been. THREE YEARS??? Oh my god its been so long i feel old Edit about 5 seconds later: Went back to go watch it... ITS BEEN NINE DAMN YEARS
Ah! The good old days of Flash games. I’d love to see you do a video about some of the best Flash games that were made. Would be an interesting trip for nostalgia sakes
The welcome dialogue is actually a parody of the one from Windows ME, which is a bit more intrusive in its attempts to tell you all the wonderful new features they crammed into their shiny new OS. Funnily enough, Windows ME is one of the only versions of Windows that I have only ever used pre-installed and haven't done the installation and initial config of myself. Lots of fun memories from high school IT classes of just sitting in the back of the classroom building PCs and making partitions on the hard drive to install windows onto before summarily upgrading them or reinstalling them.
If you would've kept going in the word one after the paperclip.exe will be shot message comes up you hear a gunshot and the paperclip falls over and blood comes out and it says "Why do I have blood?" then a message comes up saying something along the lines of "Word.exe has performed an illegal operation (killed a paperclip) and will be arrested, and of course, closed!"
Damn windows RG is some good nostalgia, and the author actually replied to this video, this is legendary. I remember making my own version inspired by it back in high school. Such a classic.
Hey Micheal, long time viewer here. When I was 7 years old I discovered Windows RG on Newgrounds and I attempted to make an XP version called “Virus XP”. This video brings back so many memories because I literally spent months on that parody. I’m 20 now, but that parody is probably laying around somewhere on an old drive. Might dig it out, who knows ;) but yeah, so glad you managed to check these parodies out! Love your channel btw!
I remember all this stuff! I actually made a similar thing myself in Flash MX2004 back then, but I never finished or released it anywhere on the internet.
Windows RG was one of the reasons for me to try out Macromedia Flash. I liked to create my own program interfaces that way and share them (you could export them as EXE).
Not specifically Windows but I really liked one called “Bash the Computer” (“Métele al Ordenata”, it was from Spain), advertised as a “stress reliever” 👊🤣
@akunalternatif windows me wasn’t a mistake the possible reason why it was horrible was because of the hardware people used it depends on the hardware and stuff I guess me was picky about stuff
Did you know? The voice at 5:56 is by AT&T, with the voice name of Mike. Interestingly, Microsoft also had a voice named Mike, although it didn't come with Windows XP and was available as an optional download alongside Microsoft Mary in a merge module for the SAPI5 TTS Engine. However, Microsoft Mike is the first Microsoft voice to ever be introduced in the SAPI3 SDK of Windows, back then named Mark Lund (Not to be confused with Mark on Windows 10). So, despite Sam being a popular voice, Mike was the first. I get the feeling that AT&T Mike was also another one of those things to copy Microsoft, since their voice sounds human like when compared with Microsoft's at that time.
Honestly find these little parody Windows things really funny :P They make stupid puns, and I love it. Doesn’t matter if the person was trashing on Windows, they made something funny. Which a bit of poking fun at stuff is needed, so long as it’s in good spirits.
Ah Windows RG, I remember playing with that in high school. Back when Windows ME crashing all the time was the joke. Geeze it's been 19 years already :-O

Holy crap. I never thought I’d see that fake Windows XP flash game ever again. See if you can find Windows Mista too. They were all on newgrounds!! I even remember finding the secret password to “scotty’s” account with the password of “spleenfat” lmao
This reminds me of SajiOS, a Windows Vista parody/clone for Symbian S60 phones that used Flash Lite and Python, which served as an alternative menu/launcher/desktop.
Back when Windows XP was released my family PC's specs was too low (64MB RAM) to install XP. So I actually played some of those Windows XP flash games to have a taste of the new OS.
I had way too much fun with Windows RG as a kid. I didn't have my own computer for a long time so it was like having my own little sandbox even if it was just a joke.
While we're on the topic of windows parodies, something i'm shocked you haven't checked out is Windows 93, that is like these flash games, but with WAAAAAYYYY more content, you should check it out if you haven't already!
I remember playing with Windows RG back in the day, and it definitely replicated some of the frustrations of Windows at the time - especially Windows 98 and (gag) ME. Windows 2000, on the other hand, was really good (well not in that kind of way) though
