Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃🍽
Today on episode 12587, Matt is testing the new 400 foot extension on the sawmill, to see if it's long enough to slab that giant 350 foot tall redwood that he removed from the Grand Canyon where it was dropped by a category F-5 tornado in a previous episode. That allowed him to try out his improved 36 wheeled crane/mega trailer. He also demonstrates his Guiness Book world record 250 foot water bucket toss that shows the amazing crotch figure in the tree where a UFO crashed into several limbs in the early 1950's leaving behind some radiation mutated Spalting. Most of the slabs will be destined to become several of his new 50 foot long work bench kits, that somehow always seem to end up with Japanese master woodworkers. A few will end up as live edge corporate boardroom tables for the new world order headquarters in Bonn. In other words, just a normal everyday M. C. show.
lol good one !
Best laugh I’ve had in a while 😂😂😂
lol awesome! Does he still turn the pulley by hand?
@@grant3226 of course he does, how do you think he has lived over 150 years old. the hand cranking also acts as a life support system pumping the blood around his body and keeping his heart ticking
😂
When you love wood, you see patterns even in a wheelbarrow. Happy Thanksgiving!
Good stuff! If I was a younger man, I feel that passion for the wood is addictive, and would enjoy it as much as you do. Thanks for sharing
You are having entirely too much fun when you track the hues of the rusty wheelbarrow! Thanks for all the videos. Love your family.
Matt, I watch multiple other sawmill videos, you are the ONLY person I have seen running your mill with that intimate feel for what is going on with a cut. LOVE your work!!!
Finally. Since you built the saw, I've been wishing it were bigger. Now it is. Thank you.
I very much enjoy your sense of humor and the beautiful slabs you cut! I share your love of "distressed" wood slabs.
I must tell you, Matt: I had no idea how addictive your slab milling videos are! I’m fascinated and can’t watch them fast enough! I helped a homesteader friend mill up a relatively small white oak, and I got to keep a log’s worth of slabs, which are still drying in my workshop. Can’t wait build with that oak, but even more so I can’t wait to go back out and mill some more!
Your sawing videos are soothing and worth watching multiple times. When you were building the sawmill, I wondered why you did not include a motor to move the saw head. Then I realized that the sound and feel let you monitor what was going on. This video showed the rocking and the extreme sound changes during the cut. Excellent!
Thanks!
@@mcremona I don't know if you saw it a few months ago but get about 4 10ft sections of pvc pipe, some "T" connections at one end and a couple of caps at the other end and mount them under your log table for the mill and attach a automotive fuel pump to a spray system that will keep your blade lubricated and have a second line to an air spray gun like you would use with an air compressor and you could use the same water supply to spray the log for grain instead of throwing buckets. We used to mount electric fuel pumps in antifreeze jugs when I worked on cars and powered them with those $20 emergency light batteries and an air spray gun would shoot about 50ft, talk about some awesome squirt gun battles. That was before they invented super-soaker guns for kids.
Those slabs are incredible! You are definitely going to get a return on your saw extension.
A very unusual log, amazing colours, figure and added spaulting.
I appreciate the superimposed metric equivalents, Matt.
24:24 -ish could those small circle 'wounds' be sap taps for maple syrup?
LOOK AT THE GRAIN IN THAT WHEELBARROW!
"Update your coefficient of friction parameter" ... classic. Liked the original camera angle such as on the slab as you threw water on it and the drone following you until it decided to land. The new building is looking good as a backdrop. Happy Thanksgiving to the Cremona family.
This log produced the best slabs for very large dining table, huge meeting room tables, and bar counter top....amazing log, one of the best log I have seen on your channel!
Beautiful Maple! Don't burn yer Turkey! Lol. Happy Thanksgiving Matthew, family, and viewers.
This video says so much about your feelings regarding renovations and building work. Nice to see you enjoying yourself again!
The extension appears to be working flawlessly! Nice job Matty
Nice spread at 30:49. Sweet property.
The overhead footage showing the entire log is great.
I like the new watering can splash technique. You’re able to get water to all areas to see all the character.
Absolutely beautiful wood. It's great to know that there are many other people who love wood as much as I do.
oh how I love your enjoyment of color patterns in an old wheelbarrow as much as on your beloved tree logs!! An artist's eye just finds wonderful stuff everywhere!
Most of the time, I'm not a big fan of Maple. This log has shown me some real beauty. It will test your knowledge as far as the planer. A helical head would be necessary to try to avoid chip out. But what a fine looking piece you could make with this material! A lot of work, but well worth it!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
That log is ginormous! I don't know what it is about these kinds of videos, but I'm obsessed with them! I love seeing the beauty that lays within the log.
That was a very large log. It also produced some nice figure color and grain. Lovely stuff.
Matt, you are the hardest working man I've watched in fifty years .
Ridiculously excellent saw, love watching the sawdust fly!
thats is some incredible timber, that end section is insane.
First the bucket, then the watering can, maybe a hose? Happy Thanksgiving to you and your wonderful family. From an 82 yr old in North Oaks who is addicted to your videos!
Thanks Dan!
Maybe once he's tried the "tube thing" to eliminate the bucket to fill the wheelbarrow, he'll think "hmm, if I got a really long tube thing, I could cut out the wheelbarrow too"
I enjoy all of your programs. Grandpa Jack
Hey Matt, I heard about a wonderful invention: they say there is something called a hose pipe that takes the water to the slab and you don't need the bucket at all.
Sounds too good to be true
yeah it’ll never work. If you were watering a lawn or a flower bed I would understand if you used a garden hose or something like that. But there’s no such thing as a slab watering hose. Another thing; using a hose will forfeit any splishy splashy score……
An absurd idea, probably dreamed up in godless Europe, will never take off.
The width of those growth rings! Trees really grow like grass in your corner of the world.
That extra extension is a game changer. As an observer it’s amazing the size of wood you can get. I am an amateur so I know what it takes to get wood over 5 1/4 thickness.
That's what she said.
I just can't ever get enough of woodgrain exposed after each cut. And the loss of friction was a little disturbing but it was also surprisingly amusing, since no one was hurt. Slab five had some beautiful grain and seemed to be transmitted from the smaller limb side above perhaps from wind twist. I'd love to see slab 6 with the ray Fleck after it's all planed and sanded with a clear finish. Nice, love your videos👍
Fall and winter come quickly in Minn-E-SO-TA. :). Amazing that a silver maple grew that big.
Very interesting video. You will get lots of wood out of that piece of wood. Happy for you.
Great aerial shots, gives so much more context to the entire operation, great homestead.
Matt... Just wanted to wish you, Lindsay and kids and great and hopefully a HAPPY THANKSGIVING. Wish I lived closer so I could meet you all in person. I have watched everyone of your videos and enjoyed them all, especially the Friday Happy Hour.
Thanks Gary! You too!
@@mcremona Your are the best!
Can't wait to see that cherry cut. I remember you going to get that with your buddy.
Pulling out a mu constant reference in a woodmilling video..? Only on the internet.. Thanks for the video as always.
Really like the saw start up and slow mo action, for artistic effect. Obtw, long traverses of the saw, like height in mountains, require Sherpa assistance. Good work Matt
I work in a wood shop, and sometimes when I'm resawing boards, I'll find bullets inside of them, it's a pretty cool to see.
The Crotch Ness Monster! One slab at a time. Nice colour and pattern in the slabs. Massive jobs need big machinery and lots of room to mill these monsters. Well done.
Thanks Matt. Happy Thanksgiving, enjoy the time with your family
Matt nice job....the spalting is wicked....more please 😊😊
Awesome log some very nice slabs cut……..and the saw extension worked out perfect……👍👍👍👍”Kudos”
Happy Thanksgiving to you, Lindsay, and your crew!!! only an enthusiast but fascinated.
What an absolute pleasure to have discovered your channel. New sub here.
27 years old, passionate woodworker. Working to raise a family here. Four daughters.
I dream to own my own house, my own land, and my own trees!
My backyard right now is my office. I do some chainsaw milling, tons of sculpture work, sanding and such.
One day I will own land, a house, and have my office set up proper! The mill, the lifts, all the jazz!
My next set goal here is getting the 661c.
I have a 261c and I'm in love with it. Now it's time for bigger trees, bigger slabs!
I came here to see how the new rails were working and then stayed for the beautiful slabs and the humor! OMGosh! I mean I often get a chuckle out of your Matt commentary, (matt*isms, matt*erings??? lol) but you were on an entertaining roll with this one! I really enjoyed this episode, probably one of my favorites! Thanks for sharing and best wishes!
Thanks Matt. It has been a weird week with my favorite channels turning into infomercials for sketchy products. Nice to see a woodworker.......wood working
Call this one the MONEY log! Thanks for the videos.
Hi Matthew, love your videos. I'm only a hobbyist but love and appreciate various types of wood, their qualities and beauty. Do you ever follow your slabs from mill to buyer to end result? I would enjoy seeing what these beauties turn into. Thanks from Delaware!
I know one of his workbench top sets ended up with Adam Savage in his new bench a year or two back.
That would be a cool video!
@@TheBigburcie Hi Bruce, did Adam make the bench blow up ? He likes to see things go B o o m !!! !
Nice
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family Matt, and of course, thanks for sharing another well done video.
There's going to be some really nice bar tops out of that.
You have struck gold with this log. Beautiful. You could make a fortune selling these as bass or guitar book matched tops.
Amazing camera work by one person. Incredible job! Love all your videos yet something about cutting slabs is so mesmerizing. Could watch live feeds of it all day. Keep up the great work!
You always find a great log to cut. These slabs are fantastic. I enjoy your channel very much. Grandpa Jack
That’s one heck of a log! Another awesome video! Thanks Matt!
Happy Thanksgiving to Cremona and Company! I learn a lot from you Matt.
Unbelievable beauty in that tree. Happy Thanksgiving to you and the Family Matt.
You too, Alan!
Greetings from the BIG SKY. I'm sure glad to see you use GOOD equipment around your new place.
That tree definitely produce some beautiful lumber. One of the most beautiful trees I've seen you cut. Hope you and your family have a Happy Thanksgiving .
Great upgrade to the mill and great log!!! Thats a big log! Awesome!
A few years ago i watched your video and kind of got interested in other sawmill videos then i happened to come across the start of your "barn build" and I have been hooked since, you do have good contex in your videos.........Happy Thanksgiving.
Happy thanksgiving to Matt and family!!!
I absolutly love your education ,& love your new workshop also, Love yeah.
Happy Thanksgiving! Extraordinary log. Thanks for posting it.
Hope you and your family have a very Happy Thanksgiving
Absolutely love this video
Happy Thanksgiving Matt, to you, Lindsay and the family, from Hamilton, Ontario.
the new barn is perfect for all the new projects from that tree for sure.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and the family
...it just wouldn't be a Matt video without at least one camera falling to the ground...love it...
a cool thanksgiving treat before we break for early dinner
Great extension! I often thought when watching your videos, its a pitty, you've got such a great sawmill and such a short bed! For not getting too short im planing to built my saw stationary, and move the log while sawing. On rails.
Thank you Mr CreamonU...excellent video...Happy Thanksgiving!!
That tree is still a thing of beauty you get some very interesting logs I hope they bring good return on your labour the barn looks great in the background
Thanks!
Nice cuttings. Happy Thanksgiving.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING Matt & the Mrs ! I'm surprised you got through it all on one blade & didn't hit a nail or chunk metal fencing !
Happy Thanksgiving Matt and family, thanks for all your videos
Thanks!
Nice video for Thanksgiving day Matt. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family,
Matt, you need to add a small winch (with the synthetic rope) on the front of your lift, then when it's too heavy to push over by hand you can use the winch to just pull it over for you.
Beautiful job! Beautiful wood!
Also... I'm going to need 5 slabs for a small coffee table for my coffee room house. One corner of the table will have my bed, one corner will have my kitchen, and the rest will be for just drinking coffee and being amazed at all that grain!
Hey Matt Have you though of putting the saw under the lean too of the new building and maybe a Gantry Crane that run above and past the saw-mill, that would make the flipping of the slabs a thousand time easier , and in turn save you back from trying to turn them. that would save you alot of pain down the road.
I keep telling you Matt....you need to eat more roast beef and Yorkshire puddings...! 💪💪
I did the same thing for my bandsaw mill about a month ago now i can cut 20 ft, and yes that maple is 10 on my scale ,sweet!
Really good videos, the commentary is the best on UA-cam
Not a bad board in that tree! Gorgeous!
Thanks for the great laugh when the log slipped off:)
Nice log...Happy Thanksgiving
Beautiful log!!!
Great job Matt. Nice slabs! Make us a nice piece of furniture with it!
👍👌👏 Definitely some heavy big slabs!
Happy Thanksgiving to you.
Your like love for like craziness and like stuff is like impressively inspiring. I like it.
I am soooo looking forward to the 14 foot spalted workbench you make for yourself!
Your mill extension seems very successful, Matthew.
