As a heat fan, andre’s contribution to our bubble team was HUGE… his Gel guy attitude was exactly what we needed for jimmy, bam and Tyler to takeoff… he always hit the right shot and did enough for the stars to takeoff

I grew up watching him play for Philly. We tried making him a 20+ ppg scorer but it just wasn't him. I was so ecstatic when he won his first ring and finals MVP! Well deserved
Iguodala earning a starting role right away in his rookie year was kind of a surprising and funny story. The Sixers had Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson at SF who was one of the better mid-range scorers of his generation, and who had only just turned 32 and was coming off of a year where he still averaged a very respectable 16.6 ppg as the second fiddle to Allen Iverson. With his defensive hustle, Andre just absolutely manhandled and eviscerated Glenn in training camp to the point that they were forced to demote the Big Dog despite his pedigree (no pun intended) as an all-star level player. Supposedly, the veteran Glenn took the demotion so badly he feigned injury until a trade happened, then he was waived and managed to successfully ring-chase with the Spurs, sleepwalking into a ring and then retiring at a fairly early age.
Iggy honestly shouldn't compare himself to Pippen. He's a better locker room presence, and he has a future in coaching. While maybe not on Pippen's tier, Iggy's versatility goes beyond just his skillset, and he should give himself more credit.

Yeah as a Nuggets fan I felt some kind of way about it at the time learning about the Nuggets' game plan being told to Golden State and Iggy attending church with Mark Jackson & a few Warriors players during the series. It is what it is.
so glad y'all covered my mans! if anyone here likes reading even a little bit, his autobiography gives some deep deep nba insight. amazing read for an incredible talent!
Andre Iguodala AKA The Man Who Save The Fate of The Universe, The Man Who Make Shot When Martian Threaten Us, and The Final MVP himself. Can’t thank him enough for saving us against the Martian and saving the universe, respect!
Loved him as a sixer, one reason I stopped watching the NBA is he lost the dunk contest. When he killed it but some short guy was doing regular dunks so judges gave it to that guy over him. As a kid it killed me.
I'm no basketball expert, but when I watched Iguodala play in high school, I thought he would be a D1 player, not an NBA player (let alone a very good NBA player). I'm very happy for his success and that he has found a way to be the best player he can be by being a team player. I love his style of play. Pippen is a great comparison to Iguodala.
He was always my favorite player on the warriors, I still remember getting so excited to go to a 2015 preseason game just so I can get his Defensive Player of the Year Bobble Head that night.
I live in Illinois about an hour west of where he grew up, a long time ago I was coworkers with one of his family members and not only were they one of the kindest people i've ever met, they had nothing but beaming admiration for their cousin's character.
I like this video because its closer to the truth as apposed to the obvious fodder we hear concerning Andre. Honestly Andre is an efficiency killer who doesn't know he is one most players make it about stats Andre in the 3rd and 4th made it about percentages which is why he won Finals MVP in 2015 based on percentages in the 3rd 4th qtr and overall Andre dominated that series.
As a Warriors fan and Iguodala fan, LeBron was the most valuable player in the 2015 Finals. He put the Cavs on his back, but the Dubs were the better team. But in the '69 Finals, the first year Finals MVP was awarded, Jerry West was the only Finals MVP ever to come from the runner up.
Damn he really is a great investor. Invested himself in the warriors when they were still unproven and went on to become one of the greatest teams of all time.
I played high school ball in the same area as Iguadola at the same time. I went to a small school, so we didn't play each other. But I saw him around a lot. It was cool to see him have such a great career.
Anyone who hasn't, please go watch the atrocity of how he gets robbed at the dunk contest with AI on the behind the backboard dunk. Nate Robinson takes 30 shots lmao. As a Philly fan, love iggy & still do. I knew our harsher fans would drive him out of town. Total class act regardless.
He was always on my NBA Live team. I was moneyballing before it was a thing, and Andre was perfectly dominant, I never understood why he was so underrated, especially when his supporting role was obvious even in simulators.
Iguodala was my favorite dunker behind Vince carter back in the day and one of the most underrated players in history, but he had a revamp in his career once he reached the warriors,he reached his full potential as a balanced player
I WANT..... IGUODALA. u have to respect somone like andre they are needed on all teams that win even if they dont get love especially if u want to repeat
I mean, he’s a lottery pick that by his 6th year hit 20pts 5 & 5 a game as a 1st option. Then by year 10 he was hovering around 20 minutes still. that’s not exactly glue guy - he’s just an aged great player . His stats weren’t blowing the lines of Draymond out of the water. Ppl who say DG isn’t a stats guy are the same type to say stats don’t tell the full story. They sure do. But when you have a team winning titles it’s logical to think well DG must be doing something when in reality Steph is just that good as it turns out. All this confirmed with the fact that AI won finals mvp. All that to say it wasn’t some fluke. Players in other roles when you have a superstar like Steph who is magnetic for a defense allows role players to step up. & AI was a lottery pick on a very respectable and natural arc given his age. I think lebron has ruined what longevity means making superhuman performance seem natural
Iggy will always mean a lot to the Bay. Not just because of what he did for our championship runs. But because he was the first big name player who chose to come to Golden State to play and win. And he took a pay cut to do it no less. 😊
Going to comment before I watch haven't viewed sb In awhile, super under rated. 2k demi god. Only thing against him is wish he would have been bigger. This guy at 6'9 would have been scary
5:00 Yep! Pain for every Raptors fan right there… Although the Raptors already had Vince Carter and Jalen Rose at the time for SG and SF therefore center was the position of need
Feel free to correct me on the timeline, but did the Raptors know Vince Carter was itching to get out at the time of the draft? I remember he was pretty miserable and particularly mad about the Dr. J snub. Keeping in mind that Rob Babcock was bad at his job, it seems like if you know Carter wanting a trade is possible, the logical thing would be to draft Iguodala as insurance and either get a promising center for a rebuild around Bosh or trade Iguodala afterwards for a more established guy.
The other AI has always been my guy, and I couldn't be happier in what his career turned out to be. He was the first signed poster I ever had. My Dad had cancer back in 2009 when I was 12, he was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer about a week before Christmas. My Dad is a financial advisor, and the philly office where he would frequent more often back then knew I loved basketball, and since they were all struggling due to the great recession it was a real struggle. They held a fundraiser and on Christmas eve they gave my dad the proceeds of the fund, and the signed poster. I've been a huge Iguodala fan ever since then, and even though I eventually sold the poster on eBay a few months later, because cancer is expensive, and even 12 year old me had to give up something so we could buy groceries during a particularly brutal winter. My Dad beat his cancer about a year later, but like I said, ever since then the other AI has been my guy, and I'm elated that both his career and my Dad turned out okay. Watching him play always brings back so many great memories.

Oh man, as a Sixers fan, watching this, and seeing some of the teams Andre was on really brought me down memory lane....It would've been interesting if we had drafted someone other than Evan turner in 2010 (Turner was the consensus #2, but he ended up being a role player, nothing more) if we really could've built something. And then, the Bynum trade...goodness gracious was that a disaster. I understand completely why we did it, but it just blew everything up for the franchise. One small thing - I love Seth, but the Allen Iverson trade was not abrupt. That had been brewing for like a year as AI wanted to play for a contender and didn't feel like the Sixers FO was committed to putting the pieces around him to win. So, that really was a long time coming, definitely was not abrupt at all.

Yeah as a Nuggets fan I felt some kind of way about it at the time learning about the Nuggets' game plan being told to Golden State and Iggy attending church with Mark Jackson & a few Warriors players during the series. It is what it is.
💀💀💀
george karl was tryna play dirty andre wasn’t with that
@@jcupgif oh I agree. Iggy wasn't wrong after I learned Karl was targeting Steph Curry's ailing legs.
That’s because Karl instructed his players to play dirty, funny how you ignore that part of the story
so glad y'all covered my mans! if anyone here likes reading even a little bit, his autobiography gives some deep deep nba insight. amazing read for an incredible talent!
Andrew Iguodala will go down as one of the most underrated yet greatest players of all time! Who knows, he could even become a head coach one day.
Andre Iguodala AKA The Man Who Save The Fate of The Universe, The Man Who Make Shot When Martian Threaten Us, and The Final MVP himself. Can’t thank him enough for saving us against the Martian and saving the universe, respect!
this is genuinely the best account on youtube
Loved him as a sixer, one reason I stopped watching the NBA is he lost the dunk contest. When he killed it but some short guy was doing regular dunks so judges gave it to that guy over him.
As a kid it killed me.
Announcers used to say AI to AI.
love this. great job--once again!
this story just makes me really happy for iggy, I'm glad he had so much success and does get the recognition he deserves as such an important piece
Great works as always! I noticed when you put Lou Williams numbers up! I’d love to see a video on the Lemon Pepper Lou aka the 6th starter!
These videos are so good. I somehow feel like a better person after watching this.
love him as player from start, great player and teammate.
One of my favourite guys of all time. The ultimate glue guy is the perfect description.
"I WANT IGUODALA!" will always be iconic to me as a NBA fan. another W for Secret Base
The Fate of the Universe call is one of the best takes in sports history.
A champion in the truest description. Well done👏🏾💪🏾🏆
I’ll never forget the first finals Vs the cavs when he hit an and1 layup after having a hot game already and he hit the flex walk after he made it 😭😂🔥
This channel is elite.
Great video, Seth!
One of the best glue guys of all time
Love me some Prism. Best new series
I played high school ball in the same area as Iguadola at the same time. I went to a small school, so we didn't play each other. But I saw him around a lot.
It was cool to see him have such a great career.
In a world full of kyrie, be like iguodala. ❤️
I don’t just want Iguodala, I need Iguodala!
I love this man literally one of my fav players all time from his stint in Philly
Imagine a glue guy winning the Finals MVP with 3 other future HOF on the team in their prime... Now that is a stacked team
Iggy fresh! Appreciate the thorough retro y the editing.
iggy played arizona basketball and then thrived when he got to play under a couch that understood arizona basketball
Still think it's crazy he got a finals MVP for holding LeBron to 30 and almost a triple double. Speaks as to how good LeBron is.
I’m simple see Secret Base new video I watch I like 😊😊
This is just such a great series
I WANT..... IGUODALA. u have to respect somone like andre they are needed on all teams that win even if they dont get love especially if u want to repeat
What an amazing player I hope he sees this video
As always, SB delivers.
As a Nuggets fan: Iguodala is the snakiest player there ever was
Denver as a city really knows how to get snaked as far as athletes go
Iggy built like he could've played in the NFL
I am a warriors fan and trust me when I say that I bought an Iggy jersey before I even thought of buying Curry's 😂 I completely idolized the guy
5:00 Yep! Pain for every Raptors fan right there…
Although the Raptors already had Vince Carter and Jalen Rose at the time for SG and SF therefore center was the position of need
The fact that those Arizona Wildcats guys all became NBA Champions Walton, Frey and Igoudala.
Such a GREAT ROLE PLAYER probably the best Underrated ROLE PLAYER EVER. he makes everyone around him better!
You should do a Shaun livingston video! Truly a underrated Gem who would have been one of the best had it not been for injuries . He was a more skilled Ben Simmons type. Didn’t shoot that well , but serviceable if needed. Having that type of length playing PG is a real rarity . I would abuse kids with him in nba 2k11 playing as the underrated bobcats! Gerald Wallace , Stephen Jackson Shaun Livingston Dj Augustine tyrus Thomas . All under rated glitches in that game if you really knew how to play! All the scrubs would pick the Lakers, heat, Spurs maybe Boston.. and they would get stomped out by the horribly rated Charlotte bobcats haha . Them and the hawks were my squad! Maybe a little Carmelo with the Denver nuggets . Great times man
Oh man, as a Sixers fan, watching this, and seeing some of the teams Andre was on really brought me down memory lane....It would've been interesting if we had drafted someone other than Evan turner in 2010 (Turner was the consensus #2, but he ended up being a role player, nothing more) if we really could've built something.
