      This is stuff that the OG players talked about to the younger players on the roster. It wasn't meant to be shared with the fans, becsuse it was none of their business.
      No different than the story Charles Barkley said about Dr. J and Moses Malone being straight up with him at the very beginning of his career. Wasn't information they felt they needed to share with the general public.

      I find this a very difficult topic. I understand players want to get paid what they are worth, especially early on in their career. At the same time, if you "settle" for 80% of your worth, the team can sign better players. Boston is the prime example of this: Tatum was still on a cheap deal and that allowed the Celtics to trade for holiday, porzingis and white. The argument that money left on the table goes directly to the owner is falls: most of it goes to building a better team. Maybe i'm too Dutch for this discussion but for me Melo is a prime example of a player who made so much money that his team was never able to contend. What did he bring the Knicks: 1 won playoff series?

    • @biscaynesupercars
      @biscaynesupercars 4 місяці тому +1

      @@maartenvz what have the knicks ever done? They didn’t win before Melo and they haven’t won after Melo. People that try to argue this should go to the employer and tell them they want less pay so they can hire more good employees at their job. But nobody would do that so why in the world would you expect an athlete, who has a job and employer like most people, to do that?

      NBA players on average get more of a cut from revenue than other major businesses. For instance, NBA players are getting 50% of the revenue which is really good. Now think about your job and coworkers, you think your job is paying y'all 50% of overall revenue? That almost never happens in business.

    This stuff happens in real life. Coworkers get pissed when their colleagues negotiate for or demand more, or worse, leave for a better position. Not everyone. But too many people like to paint others as greedy, when they know they wouldn't turn it down themselves. It's simply that they are too afraid to demand their worth and I'm not okay with that. My thing is, whether for the average Joe, if your skill is marketable and the company is profiting, you DESERVE to get all you can. Aren't the CEOs and upper execs, and heck the shareholders, doing the same? But it's wrong when a worker wants all that they can reasonably get based on the market and competition.

Vando struggles as a scorer but defensively he wins games. Dlo is a scorer who has off nights but his presence on the court completely alters defenses and when he gets hot his 2-3 makes turn into 20 point runs. You've been as successful / integral to them as Klay had been to the Warriors.

    I'm all for players getting every dime they deserve. However, Melo wanted both every dime he could get and a supporting cast. That doesn't work. His agent went to James Dolan to trade necessary assets to ensure he could enforce his Bird rights. Kudos, get your money. That didn't help the team, though, and was one of the reasons why Donnie Walsh left.
    Few scenarios and organizations can pay their talent top dollar and have a great supporting cast. Bob Meyers from Golden State was great at it. Once he saw where Golden State was going, he was out.
    That's the nature of the business. The players' union should negotiate a better salary/luxury tax.

    It’s tough to see the comments bashing Mero here. For two reasons. First cause I think they’re unfair. He brings up valid questions, adds to the conversation & his jokes hit more often than not. Second reason it’s tough to watch is because what Desus & Mero had at Viceland was a special moment in time & situation that created some damn good television. That amount of talent should be getting sh*t on for not being a quieter stage prop.
    My guess is that while 7PM will always be ball centric however over time it’ll expand to include more pop culture, news & current events. In that expanded environment that’s where Mero’s gonna really earn his check.

    I'm waiting for someone to ask Melo why he insisted that the Knicks trade all their depth pieces to get him at the trade deadline rather than just wait and sign with them during that summer. Like Carmelo Anthony, Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, Amare Stoudamire, Tyson Chandler. And Mozgov who was good at the time. Iman Shumpert. That would been a nice team.
