  • In this episode, we go to Washington Regan International Airport (DCA) where the tower is busy organizing a ground stop.
    A military flyover is happening at nearby Arlington National Cemetery in honor of a pioneering aviator's passing.

    I guess it has to happen sometimes.
    In 2002, I was at the US AirForce Academy Graduation and President Bush was the keynote speaker. The post 9/11 rules were, no flights in or out of Colorado Springs Airport while Air Force 1 was on the ground. The President arrived as scheduled, gave his speech and then stayed to salute all the graduating cadet's. Then the Thunderbirds did their fly-by, but had to wait until the Presidential Motorcade was clear of the Base before they could fly their program. COS isn't a very busy airport, however, even private pilot's were grounded as well, for an extended period of time.
