      Don’t worry, in 1969 America landed humans on the moon and planted their flag. Surely 55 years later America can’t have an issue returning a couple astronauts from the Space station. I would start begging the Russians for help regarding this situation. I guess we have our answer, more important to abandon 2 US citizens in Space than to beg Vladimir Putin for help.

      They don't have a current way of flying the vehicle return to earth uncrewed.

      Less woth NASA but agreed. At the same time though this is exactly why NASA wanted multiple crew ready systems in place. To imprve on safety and allow for unknown situations to be handled like this, unlike when they were flying the shuttle where damage to a ship basically meant loss of the crew vs just sending another ship up. They had the capability with the shuttle but it was such an undertaking vs the setup that SpaceX uses when it comes to turn around time of their flight hardware.

    Suni and Butch are NOT lost in space as the media has sometimes stated. But the psychological-emotional impact in adapting to this unexpected challenge can be addressed in a uniquely uplifting way. NASA should consider coordinating a Livestream Educational Event with they and young future astronaut teens across the planet. The media spin has been negative when this situation can actually prompt a positive - not just for the many worldwide youth whose space career aspirations are being now fuelled with concerns / questions, but for Butch and Suni's morale and sense of purpose by engaging with more than just their personal family members ... but the young members of their earthly human family hungering for understanding. Technical work alone will not sustain a human being in space. Human beings need integration with their earthly teammates in ongoing, meaningful ways.

    Boeing has always had a bad reputation regarding its ability to manage and build non-airplane projects. But now, all their great engineers that designed and built the 7X7 fleet in the 60s and 70s are dead or retired, and they never bothered to replace them because they didn't foresee changes in the industry caused by higher fuel prices and deregulation creating greater competition between airlines. It was a huge mistake to allow them to buy up McDonnell-Douglass. I dislike Airbus planes because their inability to dump fuel in an emergency decreases one's survival odds from 1 in a million to 1 in two million.

    • @AmbientMorality
      @AmbientMorality 2 місяці тому
