I guess it has to happen sometimes. In 2002, I was at the US AirForce Academy Graduation and President Bush was the keynote speaker. The post 9/11 rules were, no flights in or out of Colorado Springs Airport while Air Force 1 was on the ground. The President arrived as scheduled, gave his speech and then stayed to salute all the graduating cadet's. Then the Thunderbirds did their fly-by, but had to wait until the Presidential Motorcade was clear of the Base before they could fly their program. COS isn't a very busy airport, however, even private pilot's were grounded as well, for an extended period of time.

He was calm but gave very firm indications yo ATC to get moving she reminded me a bit like donrone in customer services ejo might be , thinking oh my god he's driving me mad I'm trying to do a dozen jobs at once you could feel sigh in her voice snd attitude, he was starting to get cross but remained patient prople like her need yo think if I was a passengervon plsne I'd be getting concerned in fact it's prople likecthat eho are first off hood gor him calling it as a mayday mayday mayday ehochmis which is what she should have done herself I hope there was sn inquiry as to the messed handling when HD declared mayday steps were soon on way. Bet it was poor captain who got stick for all this for not being all thank you thank uou I'd have lost it big yi e as pilot She would hsve taken time off sick with trauma but I'd pointed out yo her gruesome details of what would happen if there was a bomb on board and it went off,dhe eouldnt ever dawdle agsin eith a bomb threat I'm awful I know but sometimes uou have to be cruel yo be kind I'd travel anyway with yhat pilot ultimate proffessional ,negotiator , diplomat and pilot😊😊😊😊😊😊

I don't know any protocols. It seems like the Pilot was being (maybe too) cautious. And, the Controller took it way too personally. These are many people's lives we're talking about, not lining up for lunch at school.

Same company planes with identical last digit flight numbers should be assigned an Alpha or Bravo suffix by ATC when coming up on frequency. American 2133 Alpha could fix the problem.

At 2::33 ATC instruct 1083 for a LEFT turn to HDG 110.... the only reaction to the 'left' of the Pilot was to stress the 'right' in his readback instead of ask for confirmation to turn 'left hdg 110' .....?!
