Cranberries "Ode To My Family' is by far my favorite. Makes me cry every time. Anyone w family members that have passed on will understand. Please give it a listen.
The sad thing about the song 'Ode to my Family' is..." My father he liked me , oh he liked me" has sinister undertones as she claimed years later that her Dad molested her....😔
A massively underrated Cranberries song, that no one ever reacts to, is Ridiculous Thoughts (my favourite). The video features a young Elijah Wood too.
This is possibly my favorite Cranberries song. Her voice was Angelic and it broke my heart when she died. I was blessed to be able to see them in concert and it was flawless. One of the best experiences of my life! 💓
Her voice was unique. It can also go from gentle, soft and tremendously sweet to raspy, powerful and angry. Listening to it leads to a lot of pure emotions and feelings. This is one of their best songs. Try with "Ode to my family" (so sweet and melancholic) and "Daffodil's lament" (quite a bipolar song).
I fall in love every time I hear this song. Great review!!! BTW, I'd read somewhere that this song is about missing one of her grandparents after they passed away.
I love that you can appreciate her 'real' voice coming through in her music, too many singers try to copy others and lose their uniqueness. 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Ode to my Family' sir, it's great. Keening, ancient Celtic singing technique, mainly used at funerals. She uses this quite a bit. Would love to see you to songs that were not singles, 21' and Everything I said' are some of her best vocals.
I completely agree with you about the band and especially Dolores O’RIORDAN’s voice-what a unique talent she was. I was a total Cranberries head when they first hit the scene and your reaction videos have brought back how much I love 💕 them. Thank you do much! I love watching your reactions 🤓
Their first two albums are pure gems. You should just play them from start to end. Also, their early appearances in 93 or 94. Amazing Dolores live performances.
I absolutely get lost with The Cranberries. I used to lay down on my bedroom floor and close my eyes and play their cds on repeat. I recommend their entire second album "No Need To Argue", but especially the song "Ridiculous Thoughts" and the title track "No Need To Argue".
It's rather lovely watching you fall in love with Delores. She would have loved your reactions, I'm sure. If I believed in such stuff, I'd believe she was an angel now. Special.
I listened to this song a lot after my mother's suicide. It sounds depressing, but I really think it helped me a lot, and continues to do so. Sadly ironic that the same fate took her away from us, RIP Dolores, and thanks for the music ❤
I love Dolores and The Cranberries so much that I can't put it into words. I flew to Jakarta in 2011 to see them perform at Rockin Java fest and they were brilliant!! Please take a listen to Promises and Ridiculous Thoughts. Dreaming My Dreams and Daffodil Lament.
I agree. Her Irish accent coming through. My ancestors on my Father’s side emigrated to America from Ireland during the potato famine in the mid 1800’s. I don’t have the accent (my parents moved to Texas from New Hampshire when I was a year old). I sound like LBJ. Central Texas accent. I guess the only Irish I have is the temper!
@@leob4403 her boyfriend put a £10 bag of heroin in her tea, because she wasn't on drugs, it killed her instantly, she was 24, she was getting herself prepared to leave him. I have to look at it in the light that I had her in my life for 24 years she was a very complex girl, she did not realise her many many talents. Thankyou for your comment.❤
@@leob4403 no he didn't, it was a strange situation, he was definitely knocking her around whilst she was with him, I cannot figure out why she did not ask us for help, but she was a very complex girl, you could help her then she would turn her back on the help. Anyway, I guess she was ready to leave and he didn't like it. The police think he knew she was dead but didn't call them till 2 days later, I was trying to contact her but I thought she was just not picking up her phone. The police held him for as long as they could, the trouble is that there was a syringe on a saucer beside her bed, and a cup in her kitchen sink. After tests the syringe results came back as unused, the cup had been washed, she died instantly, no time to wash a cup and run back upstairs. The police told me if they charged him he'd of walked from court, she had a double post mortem in which they searched thoroughly in case they missed anything, her inquest was held in another Borough in a court that was and he was supenoed to the inquest, where he sat laughing until her little brother got up and told him to stop, outside the court he was asking the police to protect him from her brothers, crying that they were going to beat him up. He did it all right, he was like a rat in a trap, crying like a baby because an 18 year old was going to beat him up. A strange case, which has left us with a big empty hole in our lives, the inquest was left open, alot of that verdict is to do with if a similar situation happens with him involved again. I would like to think that somehow she could see that cowardly little turd afraid for his life that day, I scattered her ashes on the sand dunes on a beach that we took her to frequently when she and her brothers were small, I set her free, but most of all I know what she'd rather see is her brothers doing well and becoming great Dads and providers, and her nieces and nephews doing well at school. Thankyou for your interest, it's been hard, but I think she was borrowed to me, and perhaps you never know we could be reunited one day. As for that vile man she was involved with...who really cares what happened to him. Dear Sinead 18/8/1985-28/2/2010.
The Irish accent is very musical, rising up and down all the time. Talking is all us Irish do, we love gossip, we love chatting and having a laugh. Everything is in the open, everyone is treated the same. We make fun of the people we respect and love. If an Irish person makes fun of you, it is because they like you a lot.
I can’t wait to visit Ireland someday! It’s on my bucket list, as many of my ancestors are from there, Norway and England. It seems like a beautiful place filled with amazing people.💕
@@design_girl3345 Make sure you go to the west coast, don't spend all your time in Dublin. The west coast is the most beautiful and the people are so welcoming and friendly. I am from Dublin, so I am not biased!
A Cranberries song that I find to be simple but hauntingly beautiful is Joe - written by Dolores in honor of her grandfather Joe. That said, I agree with everything you said about her voice - it still gives me goosebumps.
An Irish band you may also like (although not simular to the Cranberries) is Villagers in particular Nothing Arrived the live version from Spotify London
I have tried 5 times to get through this reaction! LMAO 🤣 I forgot about this song! So..5 times now I have paused to pull it up with lyrics LMAO 🤣 thank you 😘
Still a great song - thanks peeps for putting it up for suggestion. And a great review, JayveeTV. That "Just close your eyes right now" suggestion worked! Next moment I was truly feeling it ❤️✌️
Dolores considered herself a “Half Canuck”. Her second home is in the province I live in (Ontario). Her home in Canada is in a remote town. She’s like an honorary Canadian to us (her ex-husband is Canadian). So saddened when I first heard of her passing. Another legend gone and sadly missed. 😢
So cold in Ireland, and still do. Must listen too. I've been listening to theses guys since day dot, I'll be watching, never commented before but your reactions are great
Im a big fan and my favourite song of theirs is and always will be Bosnia. I absolutely love that song and ya I do get lost in it... Jay please react to it. ❤️ So happy that you discovered and love the Cranberries!
I've always liked them so much. Similar in interesting voice is The Sundays. Listen to their "Here is Where the Story Ends" or "Wild Horses" (Rolling Stones cover)
This had a great slow soulful quality and showcases Dolores in her prime, although it’s sad to see her in her anorexic period. Jayvon, please check out “Stars” ! Not only a great song, but the (official ) video is outstanding too - top notch filming/ editing.
When you get the chance, try listening to the entire "No Need to Argue" album. It flows beautifully from one song to the next, allowing the listener to get completely lost in the music.
What a Legacy she left behind.... You know... I'm 41 now and I grew up listening to Cranberries.... No death hit me like hers... No Amy Whinehouse, no Michael Jackson, etc... Only Dolores and Freddy! Those made me cry!
The video got blocked that's why it's like this
I was wondering
I'll take your videos any way they come!! ❤
how about a little bad company -" burning sky" or " running with the pack" or anything from them in the 70's, they didn't have a bad song
You got me on this one, is my fave song from them, thank you!!!❤️

Cranberries "Ode To My Family' is by far my favorite. Makes me cry every time. Anyone w family members that have passed on will understand. Please give it a listen.
Yep, totally agree. I knew the song from years ago, but it means a whole lot more to me these days after losing family members.

Love Ridiculous Thoughts. Epic song
Actually, my favorite cranberries song. tired of everyone playing zombie
Thanks! I always wondered who that cute boy was!
First time that I have heard this song. Love the sound!
The world misses you, Delores.
I am so happy that good people like you appreciate The Cranberries, Dolores and the band saved my life a lot of times.
same. this made me cry tbh
Music is powerful isn't it, literally a matter of life and death to some. Stay safe and keep listening to this beautiful woman ❤
You will never tire of her voice.
My favourite Cranberries song. God rest your soul Dolores O Riordan my fellow Limerick woman. Thank you. 🙏🎶👏🇮🇪

“Ode To My Family” ❤️❤️❤️
Her voice is so easy to get lost in..and you're right, just have to close your eyes sometimes😊💕
Loved The Cranberries. Ode to my family, Empty & Ridiculous thoughts are also amazing songs from them. It’s hard to pick a favourite song of theirs!
Thanks for sharing. I had actually never heard this Cranberries song before... And now I'm addicted to it. Added to my playlist. So good..

Next Cranberries song: "I Can't Be With You". Gorgeous, upbeat, and an awesome video as well! I'm always surprised it doesn't get more attention.
She's from Limerick, I'm from Dublin, so many different Irish accents, even within counties. The Corrs are another Irish band you would like.
