I like that I'm here early in your UA-cam career.. Coz obviously its only a matter of time before you become super trendy coz your vuds are always always entertaining. You ADD to the content, not overly depend on it. Great content creator man
Don't be Blueist!
Fun fact! Bobinsky is from Chernobyl and that is why his skin is blue!
Came here to say the same thing
Does that also explain why he’s so energetic?
Apologies for being clueless but what is that?
@Melissa Fuerst I don’t remember the date but a nuclear plant or something had a spill/meltdown in either the Ukraine or Russian. (I suggest googling it since I know very little of the specifics) The people who volunteer to clean up anything to due with nuclear plants are essentially guarantied to have some kind of reaction to the high levels of radiation (cancers, radiation poisoning, weird medical issues, etc).
wait WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT
Her parents really are not as awful as they kind of come off as at first, and that's because like. Their side really isn't necessary to see for the story and would in fact weaken it, so we only see Coraline's side, where they appear distant and neglectful. But if you look at what's going on it becomes pretty apparent that they are seriously stressed, out of money, and in her mom's case recovering from a reasonably serious injury, based on the neck brace - and based on the fact that they go out to celebrate, start the garden with Coraline, and buy her the gloves she wanted immediately when they are able to it seems like they're normally pretty good parents. Even when they are hardcore struggling you can see the dad in particular makes up silly songs and rhymes for her (twitchy witchy girl) and joke with her. Her mom really doesnt, but it does seem like shes under some additional strain, from the injury if nothing else.
wow... nice! that actually makes sense
@@pandaluna0 yeah they're ignoring her for work because they are quite literally in a situation where if they cant their some articles or whatever sold they are not going to be able to afford food - their fridge is completely empty after a shopping trip to buy Coraline's uniform, and I have a hard time believing that's because everyone forgot about it. Tipping the movers with a single dollar means they are flat broke. They just dont have money left and are already at their limit to try and just handle necessary expenses. Iirc in the book they actually moved because the new apartment was cheaper than their old place.
@@emeralddarkness I haven't read the book... is it as good? better? worse?
thank you for the information, btw. it helps understanding everything
@@pandaluna0 it's different, but yeah I'd say it's good. It's pretty short if you ever decide you want to read it. They def changed some things for the movie to make it easier to translate onto the screen, and the book is able to go into some additional details about some of all this stuff.
@@emeralddarkness cool! maybe my brother has it...
A circle of mushrooms is culturally associated as a fairy ring, in some folklore they're lucky but in others they're associated with witches or the devil, it's warned not to enter fairy rings at risk of plagues, curses, or most likely in Coraline's case, being enthralled/kidnapped by fairies or losing an eye.
Don't trust the Fae Folk
The Other Father's song is actually a warning to Coraline of the Other Mother's plans for her.
Yes
A moment of silence for the Other Father 😔.
Dude was just tryna vibe with coraline and the beldam rlly said “🕷🕸 👻 ☠️”
I always love seeing people react to this movie. It's a favorite of mine. If you liked that stop-motion/claymation style, i definitely recommend Kubo and the Two Strings. It's a beautiful story with fun characters and a well thought out world. Love your videos, can't wait to see what you do next.
Laika films in order:
Coralline
Box Trolls
ParaNorman
Kubo and the Two Strings
Missing Link
They made great strides in the stop motion art form with every movie, and Missing Link beat out toy story4, frozen 2, HTTYD:hidden world and live action lion king for the golden globe.
thank youuuu i needed this i’ve only seen coraline and paranorman and i was planning on watching box trolls next
No missing link didn’t
@@PussInBootsTheLastWishFan2003 how so? Missing Link won the golden globe for 2020 best animated picture and those were the other nominees for that year.
@@toanzhou no toy story 4 won for 2019
Toy Story 4 won best animated feature at the oscars. Missing Link won best animated feature at the golden globes. Different award show.
Ah yes! The movie that gave me nightmares and scared me so bad as a kid I couldn’t even finish it 😬
One of my favorite Coraline theories is that other wybie and the other father were created with soul sand from the children the beldam consumed, and thats why they were trying to help Coraline. Which explains why the rat that the cat killed leaked sand.
if you watch the special features, they point out the medal Bobynski wears on his shirt is one given to those who were sent into Chernobyl to clean but without any radiation suits, so his skin is that color because he was exposed to a ton of radiation. it was an awesome attention to detail.
Not sure if anyone else mentioned this but take notice that in the “real” world, colors are almost non existent and if they exist they are dull without vibrancy. In the “other” world, everything is bright and colorful. We are taught at a young age to be curious of wondrous things. For coraline, she literally goes from a dull, lifeless world to one of excitement. That should have been her first red flag.
Did you know that when they show the three bowls of sweets, well the dates on the chocolates are actually the dates when this happened to the ghost children and I think it’s there bcs the others were supposed to do the same thing as coralline but didn’t make it
I know this reaction is 2 months ago but have you heard there is theory sayin that Coraline actually still trapped in the other world? See at the very end when the cat walk through the mail box sign he dissapear (to the real world!)
Kitty Keith David did say he comes and goes as he pleases from the button realm despite the Other Mother's efforts to keep him out, so he might know of other entrances to it, or mystic cat powers allow him to go to it at will.
They cut part of the first scene with the mother and Coraline where it says the parents are like they are in the beginning because they had a car accident - you do hear about the accident - and instead of having a month or so to get this catalog done, they now have 3 days so they're panicked and stressed. So it's not the normal way they are. The normal way they are is how you see them after the catalog has been bought and they can finally relax. So you're seeing them at a bad time, not bad parents as they are all the time. It doesn't forgive them for how they're being but it's pointing out that they're not like this always. I really think they should have left those lines in. I'm guessing they cut them to make the difference between them and other mother that much bigger
The mushroom circle also called a fairy ring i think and if you step into one you will be given bad luck
I need white noise. So, I'm here.
Also, you had me at "more horror"
May I suggest Black Christmas 74'
It's Halloween 🎃🔪 before Halloween.
love being early but this was the movie that traumatized me as a kid LMAOO
Computer back then don't have the 5 second saves in this gen of technology.
I got to enjoy this in its original 3D format just after it came out on Blu-Ray, it was a real blast... sadly my 3D TV died on me and I've not been able to get a replacement 🤬😭
You might also enjoy Tim Burton's A Corpse Bride.
There is a lot of fun imagery and secret meanings in this movie!!! Read the book if you love the movie you will find a lot of fun Easter eggs x
Code lyoko hell yeeeeah!!! So glad i found your channel! Thx for reacting!
Not me realising that I now have an anorak almost identical to Coraline's
hell yeah code lyoko!
PLEASE WATCH KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS YOUD BE THE FIRST UA-camR TO DO IT AND I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
Think of this movie as a darker Alice in Wonderland...more or less
Wybie doesn’t skip ArmDay!!!!!
best movie ever !
Maybe he’s blue because his red blood cells can’t get enough oxygen and his skin reflects that.
NAH FAM CORLINE IS TO FUNNY
It’s kinda wildly thought that the flexible guys skin is blue because he cleaned up toxic waste after Chernobyl since he wears a pin that looks a lot like the pin that was given to Chernobyl cleaners. Just you know another very creepy thing about this movie.
Other Wybie and Other Father deserved better. The true MVPs, they knew they were gonna get killed by Beldam, but still helped Coraline escape
YESSS. She made a mistake tho by making the other father into a REAL father and Other Wybie into a TRUE friend.
ikk
People who know wybie isnt in the book: ooooooh
The song " making up a song about Coraline" is actually the father's way of warning Coraline about the other mother's evil plan and that she's watching from the doll.
Whoa I never caught that. That's cool
The guy is blue because it’s theorized that he was a Chernobyl worker. Beets were supposed to help with radiation or something, which is why he was always eating them
Edit: also the well is theorized to be another entrance to the beldams world(aka “when you look up you see a sky full of stars in the middle of the day”)so basically Coraline just handed the key over to her
I don’t think it gave the key back why would the hand fight her if when she put it in the well the beldam would get it back anyway?
Possibly there will be coraline 2 from that. That possibly explains >~
@@hanaomer4419 idk, but like I said it’s just a theory that people have
@Hana Omer The hand doesn’t have eyes. It was probably just pulling towards where it sensed it’s body and didn’t realize she was going to through it down the well or maybe the beldam didn’t know about the well since she’s trapped in the pocket dimension.
The pin Mr Bobinsky wears confirms that he indeed was part of the cleanup of Chernobyl. It was a pin given to those who volunteered after the meltdown to help with the cleanup and all. So that much at least isn't really a theory, and more of just a reality about his character.
Ah Coraline, the movie that singlehandedly traumatized millions of children worldwide 🥰 (it’s me, I’m the children)
when i was little my older brothers told me to watch the movie without any warnings. so i sat down and watched it. in the middle of the night. alone. I'm still mad at them lol
Add me to this list
Is it weird this never scared me
It just made me very curious
@@pandaluna0 woah dude your bros screwed you over. 😂
I was the kid in the theater audience that was like “omg this is great.”
Then again I was closer to my teen years than not
"the ONLY animal that would eat their children is a spider, SHE'S A SPIDER"
...well, apparently my hamster was a spider too!!
that gave me whiplash
HUH??
And rabbits
Seen it so many times.
A lot of animals eat their own children. Like, honestly a worrying amount of animals are just ready to vore their own kids for any reason...(I'm looking at you, hedgehogs)
I hope i'm not the only one who listens to the soundtrack. Everything about Coraline is so creepy, but yet so fascinating!
Stunning soundtrack
Yaaass
"Dreaming" and "Wybie" are my favourite tracks because they capture those aspects - creepy and otherworldly, but so fascinatingly melodic
@@sunnysunsins Exactly!! I do like Exploration too!
The ending credits
@@Charlie_Wolfe Yes! that too!!!
Just to answer your question, Bobinsky is blue and has this weird body shape because he was one of the Chernobyl Liquidadors. That's confirmed cause he uses the medal that all the liquidators have recieved.
Fun fact when the father was playing the piano he was actually warning her
• making up a song about coraline (warning her)
•shes a peach (the belldam wants to eat her)
•shes a doll (warning about the doll)
•shes a pal of mine (hes on coraline's side)
•shes cute as a button in the eyes who ever laid their eyes on coraline (everyone has button eyes)
•when she goes around exploring (the belldam knows coraline is a curious person)
•mon and I will never ever make it boring (the belldam will make stuff that will interest her)
•our eyes will be on coraline (the belldam is planning to sow buttons in coraline /shes spying through the dolls eyes )
Also did u notice the garden in the real world was the belldams face and in the other world it was coralines face ?
@LilT Marshall my favourite movie since i was 12 watch it every year
@LilT Marshall i dont have many unanswered questions maybe i could answer some of urs as ive wat hed it so many times ive noticed hidden things x
@LilT Marshall the cat demonstrates the ability to appear and dissappear on a whim often to hide from danger or to help coraline out of it
7:44 "Why is his skin blue?" "Oh my god Karen, you can't just ask someone why their blue!"
While most people say "The book was better than the movie." Coraline is a case where I actually agree. The movie was very good, and I enjoy it. However, it was missing the loneliness from the book (I remember the part about Coraline missing her parents and booting up the computer, taking a nap, etc. to pass the time) and the creepy unsettling nature of the illustrations.
Coralie is one of the times where I think the film is actually better than the book because I feel like it expands upon the original lore whilst adding lot sof extra details and Easter eggs with out giving away or completely changing the story.
Definitely check out paranorman and kubo and the two strings. Kubo easily has the best stop motion animation Laika has put out
YES
Yeees
You could try the box trolls too it’s looks weird at first but it’s a real hidden gem 💎
@@lexichilds3606 UGH IKR? I rewatched it yesterday along with several others and I forgotten how much it hit me in the feels when he blurts out that line about fathers.
y'all have great taste
This set up (light bulb color matching the movie) reminds me of Dylan is in trouble
I've been looking for a comment that said this!!
and when this movie first came out, it was a 3d movie. never forgot how terrifyingly thrilling it was to see as a kid. Neil Gaiman (the author) said he wanted to write a story that kids would see as an adventure but that adults would see as horror
@Raesputin He did great lol I was never afraid of this movies as a kid but I am a bit scared of it now that I’m an adult.
I know he wrote it as a horror for his daughter who was young at the time. He’s an amazing author.
Anyone else notice that the lightning strike during the other world’s first dinner scene is in the shape of a hand/claw?
Nice vid dude! as a side note: Neil Gaiman told that part of the inspiration for the story was to teach his daughter that despite to not paying as much attention to her because of his work, he still loved her; and that people who offer everything we want not always have our best interests at heart
Also, Forcible and Spink are actually a married couple
[7:24] *Fun Fact:* On the cake it's written "Welcome Home!" (it's not in the video but it shows in the movie), it's written in cursive letters. But the first letter "o" (WelcOme) is a full circle while the second letter "o" (hOme) is more curvy and parted in the middle, there's a study analysis of letters that says when the cursive "o" is more curvy with a line parting it, the idea it brings it untrustful, not good, a lie. _So the meaning behind the cake is that _*_Coraline is Welcome, but she's not Home!_* *[bro, the chills]*
So… the cake is a lie?
I would also like you to react to Corpes Bride (if you hadn't watched it), it's a Tim Burton film and also stop motion.
^^^^ definitely
When Neil Gaiman wrote the book originally, he gave it to a friends daughter to read and make sure it was kid appropriate, and the daughter said it was fine but when he published it kids were having nightmares and he was super confused lol and then he found out that the little girl was too afraid to tell her mom that she was scared so she said she liked it 😂 I really love that man so much.
In my humble opinion, LAIKA is the most underrated stop-motion movie studio
Fun fact when Coraline gets a cake it says welcome home but there's the difference in the O's in home and welcome the o In home it has a meaning like "she's welcome but not home"
Baby's first horror movie!
This is actually based on a pretty deranged children's boo, I think the movie actually toned it down believe it or not. But I do prefer Coraline in the book. The reason is that the Coraline doesn't have Wybie to save her, twice, and even though she has the cat to talk to, he doesn't give her the answers all the time. Coraline in the book has to solve the problems that the Other Mother presents and she does it by having the imagination of a child.
I love when she calls the police to report her parents have been adultnapped by her Other Mother and the officer smiles and tells her to wake up her mother to get her a warm glass of milk. She actually tried to get help from adults, but no one takes a child seriously, so she had to figure it out on her own.
Like, in the book, Coraline's parents don't have a snow globe collection. Coraline sees the snow globe on the mantelpiece in the Other World and realizes that must be where her parents are because she figured out the Other Mother could only make copies of things in the real world. She couldn't create. So there was no reason for a snow globe to be there since her parents never had one.
Another one is at the end when the hand is stalking her (which goes on for days). Coraline sets a trap for the hand by putting a sheet over the well and putting plastic tea cups filled with water on the corners under the pretext of having a tea party with her dolls. She puts the key in the middle of the sheet and has her tea party, making sure not to look at the hand as it stalks closer and closer. The hands leaps for the key, it falls down in the sheet and Coraline covers the well.
But all the fan theories that have popped up over the years from people changing the lighting and contrast of the images to figure out what was going on, this story inspired a lot of people
Girl movie was definitely toned down from the book, that tunnel used to be living
I mean I felt like Coraline was pretty good in the movie, like she had help but she still held her own and I can respect that
Just letting you know that Mr. B is blue because he worked as a liquidator at Chernobyl, the medal he wears was given specifically to the clean up crew
You're not the only Code: Lyoko fan here. 🤜🤛
Coraline was one of the best movies I watched as a child
Yes
If you see the metal on the blue mans shirt he was apart of the clean up for the nuclear war which is why he’s blue
it's the cleanup crew for the Chernobyl disaster, not a nuclear war, but yup!
If you haven't seen the Hunchback of Notre Dame, I would highly recommend it. It's so good!
Have you ever watched Tim Burton's Corpse Bride? It's one of my fave movies ever ❤️ If you don't, you should react to it!
Next is Kubo and the two strings. If you love stop motion then that is an epic movie.
Actually, the weird guy's skin is bright blue because he has a medal of the Chernobyl clean-up crew, meaning he probably is just covered in radiation
okay but you NEED to see paranorman, it is such a good movie, so funny and very underrated!!
I was already adult when i watched this i cant say it traumatised me although I see the creepyness. But the part where the other mother yells "dont leave me" is really creppy. The voice actor did an awesome work tjere
Coraline was made by Henry Selick, same guy who worked on Nightmare Before Christmas
and it's the first movie from the company LAIKA, which is also responsible for the great stop motion movies ParaNorman, Boxtrolls, Kubo and Mister Link (All of which I hope you'll react to eventually as well, they're seriously all amazing ^^)
Just wanted to say that the reason everyone in the “better” universe says her name correctly is because they actually care. The fact that the rest of the characters call her “Caroline” shows that they don’t actually listen or care
Edit: I also wanted to add that I have a theory (not sure if others believe this too) that the Beldam made all of the people in the other world and she’s actually the only “real person”. Once she reveals her true form and the world starts falling apart the father turns into a pumpkin- like thing, spink and forcible turn into taffy, bob in sky turns into a rats and I’m assuming Wybie just all together vanished (turned into dust) because of the scene where he tried to help Coraline escape and shows her that his hand is just dust. I know it’s a lot to read but let me know what you guys think!! 😁
dissapointed that he didnt say grossgusting at 13:46 15:28 and 17:46 😔 lol
Coincidentally, Dylan is in Trouble does the same thing.. puts a light colour according to the movie theme :P
The second the video started I got whiplash from the Dylan vibes. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed.
If you like stop motion animation, you should watch Fantastic Mr. Fox. It's a classic and has some good songs too!
That Code Lyoko part hit me with some serious nostalgia. Wow. Now I gotta go rewatch it!
Oh my god am I bless in today's pride month?!! So many people are reacting to Coraline and Enchanted!!!
I saw this in my recommended and I have never clicked on something so fast
Code Lyoko had a BANGER of a theme song
just wait until he watches the like 2 hour long coraline theory by the theorizer
“I’m confused is coralline a doll or an actual person”
Me- YES
YES MY FAVOURITE MOVIE! I HAVE THE BOOK AND NEED TO START READING IT SOON
Sooo do you think Coraline had ptsd after this….I know for a fact I would 😳
I remember watching Coraline the first time when I was like 11 at school. Everyone clinging to the teachers and me trying to pay off as the "Zero fucks given" While sitting on my chair alone but inside I was terrified WHEEZE
the mention of code lyoko made me feel such nostalgia lol that's one of my favorite shows from when i was younger
When I was younger I loved this movie (still do) but to this day the line "He pulled a long face and mother didn't like it." and the scene where the other mother was pounding on the door and screaming for coraline not to leave her ✨terrifies✨ me
Fun Fact: When the father was singing while playing the piano, he was actually warning Coraline that she is in danger
Making up a song about Coraline, (Warning Coraline)
She's a peach, (The belldam wants to eat her)
She's a doll, (Warning her about the doll)
She's a pal of mine, (He's on coraline's side)
She's cute as a button in the eyes who ever laid their eyes on coraline, (Everyone has button eyes)
When she goes around exploring, (the belldam knows Coraline is a curious person)
Mom and I will never ever make it boring, (The belldam will make stuff that will interest Coraline for her to stay)
Our eyes will be on Coraline, (The belldam is planning to sow the buttons on Coraline/ she's spying on Coraline with the doll)
Also on the Welcome Home cake, the o in welcome was looped once but the o in Home was looped twice. Which means that Coraline is welcome but she's not home
Please watch Monkeybone: Henry Selick film, but it's PG-13 due to sexual references.
you know the white gloves from the other Fathers piano? they were the other Mother controlling the other Father
Shoutout to Code Lyoko! I absolutely love that show! 😍
A hidden thing? Well: when she got Into the other world for the first time and got that cake where it said welcome home? When a «o» has a double loop it means a lie. Which means she was welcOme but she was not hOme 👍
The next question is are you going to complete your puppet induced trauma with the Dark Crystal and it’s series??
Hey man, can you react to Treasure Planet and The Great Mouse Detective ? PLEASE ?
if you love stopmotion i highly recommend fantastic mr fox it’s a must watch!!!
Are we just gonna ignore the fact that Coraline was literally groomed…
please please please watch The Little Prince. I'm obsessed with this movie. It made me read the book lol, and it has some cool animation in it. it's just beautiful and breathtaking

I'm sorry you couldn't get the fox... i wish i could send you mine so it would make another person happy. all i can do, though, is this 🦊
@@pandaluna0 I honestly don't understand why people consider it bad if people still watch kid shows and mock others for it over a preference, I am very open about me preferring kids shows and cartoon series over live action movies and series (doesn't mean I won't watch them once in a while) I watch both western animation and anime, I just have a love for art and animation is so stunning to me, and being 17 at that. I can and will rant to my friends about any kids show I've seen recently and get them to watch it too, but I think it's good to share your interests with your friends have them try it out aswell, like me and my friends do that, we give each other's interests a try to understand each other more, but ik that depends on the person aswell.

There is a theory that the cat is possessed by something and when it talks it's actually the thing that it's possessing it (it makes no sense when you hear it like this but there is a whole playlist of theories by The Theorizer, or now he has them in 2 videos smashed together wich is easier to watch), and it's so interesting and it makes so much sense because the cat is meowing at times in the portal thingy too
