Toolbag is excellent. You have your texturing, look dev, and rendering all in one place in real-time! It's going to save me a ton by not needing other product subscriptions.
It's awesome to see an alternative to Substance, especially with how it's been slowing down and becoming less efficient over time. For anyone who's used both recently, how close are we to being able to drop Substance entirely? I'd definitely pick up a perpetual license for this if it can fully replace Substance.
I personally was just waiting for Anchor(Synch Points). Wasn't expecting the bevel shader but a very welcome addition. Honestly, between this release and options like InstaMat it's very clear how stagnant Substance has become.
I stopped using Substance entirely since Marmoset 4, it's so much better. I don't see why it's still used by the majority of people, and why is still the industry standard
The reason I think about abandoning Sunstance is solely because of Adobe. A trash company that ruins everything it touches. Since Subtance was sold to them, innovation has slowed and improvements are barely rolling in. Creative Cloud is so fucking bad that I curse its existence every day.
I'm curious about that Bevel Shader. Is that bevel something we could permanently apply into our textures? (replacing the need to model a highpoly in some cases)
In some cases you can skip the high poly modeling, yes. Copy your low poly, add the bevel shader to that copy to add edge highlights and bake them as a normal to your original low poly.
Why would we need painting features when there's a better alternative? Honestly, as a character artist, I would be more interested in seeing more shader features.
The Toolbag 5 release delivers several new material/shader features: UDIM & Multiple Texture Set support, Bevel Shader, Triplanar material projection, Layered Materials (w/ vertex color, height, and mask blending), and a new hair shader to go along with Groom support. We'd love for you to give the painting features a try too, and let us know if you have any additional feature requests!
Where did you get this pricing? 😅Toolbag is offered with both perpetual license and subscription license (monthly or yearly) options, so you have the licensing method that works best for you. You'll find Toolbag's license fees are noticeably lower than competing software packages.
should have put in better options to pay..400 bucks I can buy a new graphics card..if you put in an option like 3d coat you can rent and pay for the software and pay it off at your own pace.and buy that new graphics card because its costing you only 18 bucks a month.
Appreciate the feedback. 🤝 No, we do not offer a "rent to own" structure, but Toolbag is offered with both perpetual and subscription license options. A monthly sub is a great low cost of entry option, and with no long-term commitment required on a monthly sub, you can enjoy the new features in Toolbag at your own pace!
No its subscription based, the standard of everything now days. Maybe I should do it 2, work as a tattooartist. Small tattoo? It will be 10 dollars a month for the rest of your life.
We've offered both perpetual license and subscription license options (monthly or yearly) since 2020, and continue to so so that each artist has an option of what works best for them. 👐
Pretty sweet! I am still using Toolbag 3 so definitely due for an upgrade.
Toolbag 3 is still a king of real-time rendering.
Marmoset you peeps always impress, stay gold.
These updates are incredible! ❤
This is it. This is the update. No other baking/texturing software exists to me anymore.

Wow❤
AO,BAKE, whether there is a function to ignore the back of the normal, when the fabric model is interpolated, to avoid black in the AO map.
There is already an option to to ignore back of the face if that's what you mean.

This costs 100x more than substance painter. Is it really that better?
