Maybe this is the uncommon opinion but I actually really enjoy the golfing in this game and think it's the strongest sport in the pack. I totally understand and see where all your complaints are (especially with the more mute colors), but I really like how similar golfing in the game feels to golfing in real life. Having to look up from the game pad to see the map on the tv is similar to having to look up from your ball to see down the course in real life. Maybe not the greatest game design choices, but I can appreciate what they were going for. Anyways, really great video!
Man i complete disagree with golf being the worst version. I actually think needing to look back in forth between the ball and hole is much more like how you would swing if you are actually playing real life golf.
Fr golf is my favorite sport in the game. They really updated it. Just the front cover if you will of the game feels like a rushed Resort port, but after playing it for so long I've began realizing just how unique the sport plays. I still play it to this day and try to improve my records (worst scores being -9 in all 9 hole courses, -18 in all 18 hole) courses
Honestly I always enjoyed this game, oddity as it is, and I'm realizing that a big part of that is probably that I never played boxing. Holy crap what did they do to Boxing.

Last year I got a Wii U and I was excited to see that there was a remake of Wii Sports that I never knew about before... and I hated playing it :) but the best part of it was that it made me want to revisit the original, and after that I also finally tried Wii Sports Resort, which is amazing, it instantly became one of my favorite Wii games.
Why remake a game that was already outdone by it's sequel. If anything they should have made a Wii Sports Resort 2, or something completely different. Imagine something like Wii Sports Winter, with sports like Snowboarding and Curling.
They should’ve added new sports and content, rather than it being a straight-up HD Paywall version to the original. At least they learned their lesson in Nintendo Switch Sports, with them adding new sports, along with fan favorite classics.
Snowboarding did make it into Wii Fit along with a couple other things, so that's at least something, there's some Wii Sports spiritual successor stuff in that game, especially in Wii Fit Plus, but having a dedicated Wii Sports Winter game would have been so cool if done right, yeah.
Boxing is horrendous, but it’s easily the best version of Golf. There’s a crap ton of courses and the gamepad view makes it easier to make your swing correct.
I remember getting this game after its release. I lost interest after they changed baseball, which was one of my favorite games in Wii Sports. I don't understand why they did what they did by making those day passes and charging ten bucks for each game. I didn't really think much of it after you mentioned it in the video. Though still, I didn't like how you still had to buy those passes just to keep the games and play them from time to time. I believe we only have tennis and bowling still.
Never in my existence have I ever seen this game until now. I swear, I was the kid who every time my parents took me and my siblings to the mall. I made it a priority that we go to GameStop before we leave. The most I saw were used copies of Wii Sports Resort and Wii Sports. The reason it looks like Wii Sports Club "didn't sell well" is actually because the physical copies were sold in limited numbers and the main way of actually "purchasing" the game was by downloading the free app on the Nintendo eShop and paying a subscription to keep playing the game. That is why the sales numbers were never released.
Okay, I know this is *huge* hot take, but I really need to get this off my chest. I love this game. More than either of the two originals in fact. For some reason, I just love the updated graphics and think they look way better than in the original Wii Sports (even golf). I know many people prefer the original game's graphics which is fine, but that's just my opinion. As for gameplay, I will admit that boxing is much more boring, and I hate that you have to put the gamepad on the floor in golf. But tennis is great; it controls way better imo, and I do like the spike mechanic as well. Bowling is fine; imo it's not much different from the original. Again, I like the graphics better in Wii Sports Club (probably because I spent more time playing that game than the original tbh) so I prefer the newer one. As for baseball, oh man. I love the gamepad feature. It gives pitching a whole new dynamic. You have to actually be *good* at hitting in this game by being good at reading pitches which is think is super fun; you can't just swing away at every single pitch expecting to smack homers every time. My brother and I are both really good, and games between us always become pitching battles. I'm a huge MLB fan in real life so I know I'm super biased here, but I will always prefer this game to the original, especially baseball.
That’s fair, i think it’s great that you found some fun out of tennis and baseball. I remember when it released, I was super disappointed since the 12 sports from wii sports resort weren’t coming back… and then 3 of the sports in the game would be delayed… and then turns out most of them were pretty mediocre. @@xman10110 That’s true. Maybe I’m just being biased because i’m nostalgic for the tropical feel of resort, just like how my favourite pokémon game was gen 7 because it was the tropical region.
I agree with that baseball took a major upgrade in the Wii U version. The batting, pitching, and defense feel more relevant. I wish tennis offered a greater challenge.
I think we should’ve just gotten a Wii Sports U instead of this. It could have added new sports, some that involve game pad usage that actually works, as well as returning sports. I think that would have done a lot better than Club if they didn’t screw up
The gamepad doesn’t take the fun out of pitching. The Wii remote detected any form of movement as a pitch. All you did as a pitcher in the original was wait for it to be done.
It’s a shame that Nintendo didn’t learn from this and is releasing Nintendo Switch Sports in small chunks. You don’t even get the six advertised sports in the game at launch, but you get a bland and boring soccer mini game instead of actual soccer. And we’re going to have to wait several months just to play golf… Why can’t we just get a full game release at launch? Having a mii option for background characters would also be good.
Pop Pop used to always play both Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort back in the day. I remember he asked me if Wii U was worth it. I made the right call to tell him not to buy it. RIP Pop Pop
I have to say that the motion controls are just so much better in Sports Club than the original Wii Sports. Aside from the inferior boxing it seems like Sports Club is the better game. Would you say it's worth having both only for boxing? Do you like the original Wii Sports boxing better than Punch Out for Wii?
The reason why it’s better is probably because of the better hardware/wii motion plus. I played both resort and club, and comparing the bowling in each game, the controls feel identical. So i would say that even though it is still an improvement from the original, it didn’t improve over resort.
The only redeeming grace of this game in my opinion is the miis. With the Mii Maker being able to be more advanced I think they personally did an amazing job with the miis and have created so many that I love and cherish to this day. All the Miis in both Wii Sports/Resort and Club are amazing anyway.
Honestly i had more fun playing the online test on switch sports with the 3 sports more than wii sports club itself. Idk if its just me but tennis feels so clunky for me Maybe its because it desyncs everytime and i have to press down on the dpad.. switch sports is a huge step on a good direction after the mess that club was.. golf and bowling? Yeah controls were fine in club but tennis was the one that turned me against playing club at all. Thankfully i had no issues with the joycons desyncing and had a really good time while playing tennis or chambara while the test was up Bowling? Yeah its fun but i prefer the other 2. Had a really intense tennis match at the last few minutes of day 2 in the test 😅
It makes me sick when people say the og boxing is actually better and anyone who says otherwise is blinded by nostalgia, they’ve clearly never played both. I adore the looseness of the og and haven’t stopped playing since launch. Club was beyond disappointing.
I actually love Wii Sports Club. I mean sure, it had a pretty confusing launch strategy, and the gameplay isn't as fun as Wii Sports, but besides that, actually had a lot of fun with this game. It was also the first Wii Series game to be playable in HD and support Online Multiplayer. Needless to say, this game isn't really as good as Wii Sports, but it's not the worst game on the Wii U (I promise there are tons of worse Wii U Games, YES I'M TALKING ABOUT MEME RUN)
I didn't even know there was a physical release of this! I thought it was just digital with those weird passes, that was definitely a deciding factor for me to not even tried this
I never personally found the game horrible I mean I love trying for the leader boards in the training modes or just playing online and the HD graphics do look good but your right in saying it's not good as a sequel to resort but the wii u is my favorite console so I'm gonna be baised towards it.
I like Golf in Club, i feel like i'm more in control or something, idk, i was really bad at Golf on Resort but i am good in the first one and Club. Baseball is fine, if i feel like just using the Gamepad, i can turn on the game with a Wii Mote, not use it and use the Gamepad on the pitching mini-game, idk why i like doing that. BUT BOXING IS LITERALLY THE BIGGEST SIN ON THIS GAME, its absolutely terrible, i dread playing that one in Club. Also, i'm not that hyped for Switch Sports, but we will see how it goes, i really don't like the idea of updating anything, and Golf not being on the full package just breaks the deal for me.
I just started playing this for the first time. I slice the ball every time in golf, at first horribly but I realized I was swinging too hard. Now, only slightly but pulling off a straight shot seems impossible.
honestly your complaints about boxing applies to the whole game for the personally. everything just feels so much more impactful and has so much more life to everything
I was fighting someone in Wii Sports Boxing and got decked so hard and fast my Mii pretty much did a flip. It wasn't Matt, though. I'm good but not that good.
They did those gamepad gimmicks because they were demoed in the reveal of the Wii U, to show what it can do with gameplay. They had to follow through with their promise.
Trying to add support for the gamepad was the Wii-Us primary fault and yet it was also the primary gimmick of the console. Having to look away from the TV and down made things very annoying at times. (Starfox)
I'd say that every wii sports game but switch sports would relax me minus boxing because i don't mind losing in golf or baseball tennis i just am good at it but it is nice and bowling i like so i think this is a good game even though i have never played it. ( ik i am someone who decides to comment years after but it is now i just thought of this and i have watch this alot)
Boxing was unplayable on the original Wii Sports because of the incredibly stupid decision to use the nunchuck. That was FIXED in Wii Sports Club, which INSTANTLY makes it the superior version with two wiimotes as Wii Sports should have supported. This reviewer doesn't seem to get that this is SUPPOSED to be a re-release of Wii Sports for the Wii U. That's not a con. And having a proper Wii Motion Plus tennis makes this game a winner in spite of the really dumb decision to ruin baseball and golf with the requirement to use the stupid gamepad. That gamepad KILLED the Wii U.
I like the fact that Nintendo bundled Boxing with Baseball. It's like Nintendo knew that Boxing was going to turn out to be a clunker, so they decided to put it with another sport that people would most likely play. Probably the only smart thing they did as far as this game is concerned. What's sad is that I really wanted to like this game, too.
The biggest problem with this game is that it looks way to similar to to the entry on wii. And that was one of the Wii U’s problems. As Scott the Woz said, most of the games on Wii U were way to similar to games that people had on the DS, Wii, or 3DS
The only problem i have with the game (even though i cant play it yet) is how would i even play? I have a digital version and as you know they got rid of the eshop purchasing on wii u, so how would i even play?
The pass system could have been a good idea, already if the day pass cost much less, but especially by offering either a party for only one sport or for each sport per day, leaving only one trial day was really bad idea that made this a failure. Today buying it dematerialized has no more interest, if not to resell the wiiu later with the game in it, you might as well take a ROM and directly Jailbreak it. I still think it should have been free with the console...
I literally just bought a Nintendo Wii today. Mainly for the sports games and light gun games. Now come to find out they’re making a switch sports game coming out this month 4/29/22 I didn’t know that at all but hey I wanted an Nintendo Wii anyways no I didn’t know about Wii sports club this is new to me I ended up selling my Wii U because I had nothing for it it was kind of a pointless console.

Pop Pop used to always play both Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort back in the day. I remember he asked me if Wii U was worth it. I made the right call to tell him not to buy it.

Awesome video Nintendo Hero!
nice been waiting for a video about Nintendo club from you!
@@rosellarade Right. Bowling is nearly identical to Resort. But, the graphics are now in HD. So yes, it did improve a bit.
I didn't even know this game existed. At first I thought this might be a mod, when I saw this video.
Not to meantion that the wii u was also backwards compatible so you didn't need to buy this at all if yoy already had the original
Will you do a video on Wii Fit / Wii Fit Plus? Love the series!
15:36 the best song of a wii series game
That boxing song is too lit
I had a Wii U and literally did not know this ever existed until right now
hey nintendo hero! fun fact you can actually see Matt in smash bro’s ultimate on the wuhu island stage in wuhu town
The only redeeming grace of this game in my opinion is the miis. With the Mii Maker being able to be more advanced I think they personally did an amazing job with the miis and have created so many that I love and cherish to this day. All the Miis in both Wii Sports/Resort and Club are amazing anyway.
Nostalgia is strong with this one.
Honestly i had more fun playing the online test on switch sports with the 3 sports more than wii sports club itself.
Idk if its just me but tennis feels so clunky for me
Maybe its because it desyncs everytime and i have to press down on the dpad..
switch sports is a huge step on a good direction after the mess that club was..
golf and bowling? Yeah controls were fine in club but tennis was the one that turned me against playing club at all.
Thankfully i had no issues with the joycons desyncing and had a really good time while playing tennis or chambara while the test was up
Bowling?
Yeah its fun but i prefer the other 2.
Had a really intense tennis match at the last few minutes of day 2 in the test 😅
It makes me sick when people say the og boxing is actually better and anyone who says otherwise is blinded by nostalgia, they’ve clearly never played both. I adore the looseness of the og and haven’t stopped playing since launch. Club was beyond disappointing.
Nintendo Hero your Videos are always amazing!!!!!
Can you also do a review of Wii Party and Wii Party U?
I actually love Wii Sports Club. I mean sure, it had a pretty confusing launch strategy, and the gameplay isn't as fun as Wii Sports, but besides that, actually had a lot of fun with this game. It was also the first Wii Series game to be playable in HD and support Online Multiplayer. Needless to say, this game isn't really as good as Wii Sports, but it's not the worst game on the Wii U (I promise there are tons of worse Wii U Games, YES I'M TALKING ABOUT MEME RUN)
I didn't even know there was a physical release of this! I thought it was just digital with those weird passes, that was definitely a deciding factor for me to not even tried this
7:23 wait that’s illegal
Shhhhhhhhh 🤫
0:53 you forgot that there was a free digital version that you had to buy a pass for
I didn’t even know it existed until like 1 year ago and I own a Wii U
Wii sports - Ranked mode
Wii sports resort - Ranked mode
Wii sports club - Casual mode
Nintendo Switch sports may still have the bowling easter egg, though since it was the survival mode i bet it wasnt in it
:/
@@Twten rip this idea lmao
Nintendo switch sports in my opinion is a bigger failure than wii sports club as they took the original Wii sports concept, and spit on it
I can't believe there wasn't an HD port of Wii Sports resort too 😫
Your Miis wouldn't even show up in the background of this game like they did in Resort :(
I love your videos so much! You are so passionate and try not to be biased! Don’t stop posting!!
is nobody going to talk about how HILARIOUSLY bad that boxing section was? i almost laughed that was like insane
Club wanted to be the sequel but let’s be honest
Resort did that better then club can ever could
Switch sports wanted to be the sequel as well, but even then, resort is already a perfect sequel. Not a bad game, but resort is more worthy of the title
@@Jakepearl13 you guys know that a franchise can have more than 2 parts right?
Club's boxing mode looks like a 3D animated version of the Wii's version for some movie or something
BUT
BOXING IS LITERALLY THE BIGGEST SIN ON THIS GAME, its absolutely terrible, i dread playing that one in Club.
Also, i'm not that hyped for Switch Sports, but we will see how it goes, i really don't like the idea of updating anything, and Golf not being on the full package just breaks the deal for me.
I never even knew this game existed-
9:11 "2008" he meant in 2006 right ?
I never even heard about wii sports club
I just started playing this for the first time. I slice the ball every time in golf, at first horribly but I realized I was swinging too hard. Now, only slightly but pulling off a straight shot seems impossible.
honestly your complaints about boxing applies to the whole game for the personally. everything just feels so much more impactful and has so much more life to everything
Nice video
13:46 THEY WHITEWASHED MATT, FUCKING RIP
IT’S NOT THE SAME DAMN GUY
🗣 IT'S A DIFFERENT MATT!!!!
i think ur absolutely right about the boxing wii u version
Maybe you should make a review on Deca Sports. It is something.
This game looks so ugly compared to the original ones and NSS. It's so grey and washed out, they took all the brightness out of everything
give them credit at least they kept the miis.
I was fighting someone in Wii Sports Boxing and got decked so hard and fast my Mii pretty much did a flip. It wasn't Matt, though. I'm good but not that good.
I’m surprised they didn’t bring back the original Matt
They did those gamepad gimmicks because they were demoed in the reveal of the Wii U, to show what it can do with gameplay. They had to follow through with their promise.
Trying to add support for the gamepad was the Wii-Us primary fault and yet it was also the primary gimmick of the console.
Having to look away from the TV and down made things very annoying at times. (Starfox)
Hello from the WiiUsers Facebook group
