The drummer is the vocalist in this music, they have 3 vocals: Troy Sanders (bass), Brent Hinds (guitar) and Brann Dailor (drums)
Thanks! I really dug this!
Bill does vocals too mostly on older stuff.
@@ryanexsus only really backup vocals. Shame he doesn’t sing more because he’s got some awesome screams.
@@puppetmaster8551 that is false, lot of the older stuff has him on lead vocals
@@davideabbate7333 not false lol, it’s what Bill himself said, Bill even mentioned in an interview at some point that he’s never recorded vocals for mastodon and just does backing vocals live.
I friggin love this song. Idk how they made those massive drone sounds, but that totally is the icing on the cake in the first half, then they just riff out in the second half. Such a good track from a really interesting band: thrash-pog into like true metal prog. Great band.
👍🏻
Mastodon: *has a classic catalogue of albums and songs, is one of the fundamental metal bands of the last two decades*
Reactors: *only listen to "Steambreather" and "Oblivion," never touch the band again, go back to covering Gojira's and Tool's deep cuts*
So your saying...Oblivion next? ;-)
@@dannytheswedishmusixian1513 Haha, yes, basically.
Good, but that'll be the last one for me ;-)
@@dannytheswedishmusixian1513 I know you're messing around, but "The Last Baron" or "Ember City" would be great. The latter is probably my fav prog alternative song ever.
Dude this is so true and frustrating.
Mastodon Toes To Toes….. thanks so much for the react. 👍
Thanks!
Mastodon is so good! Their music is serious (mostly) but their videos are usually not serious and I find most of them distracting. But definitely do more of Mastodon. Also, try the band BARONESS, songs like Shock Me or Chlorine and Wine.
Thanks for the tip! I've reacted to Oblivion and it should be uploaded pretty soon.
While this band has a distinct sound you can't mistake too often for anyone else, they do have a variety of style within their own sound throughout their catalogue. It doesn't all sound like this. One of my all time favorite bands and I've been listening to music since I was born, in the 70's so that says a lot for me. Appreciate the reaction.
Check out Mastodon - Oblivion. Three of the four band members sing different parts of it, epic. I love Steambreather, it and Motherload round out my top three from them.
So, three singles? Nothing from deeper listening?
Good review! Subbed, cheers from Canada
Thanks, welcome
You nailed the shaker part \m/ \m/
Thanks
Mastodon i very special band!!! Just as Gojira and Opeth, they are simply another level...
Cool.
My guess is that they are showing a serious subject. But with Mastodon, you're always going to get sense of humor. Check out their other vids. Masterpieces.
I don't think you can call yourself a metal fan having never heard of mastodon up until a year ago.
I grew up on metal so yes I can and you are not the judge of this
All the songs are serious but they make funny videos because they’re silly guys. The video and song almost never correlate
Cool, Thanks!
You are a musician who likes metal and you haven't heard of Mastodon until now? Dude. Seriously. Do you live in a hole?
Haha. I stopped listening to metal in the 90’s
And for something really out there, different, and very good check out 'King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard' - Crumbling Castle
Thanks for the tip!
i love this song
are we safe in out citadel
Did you namedrop HELMET there? Another group that I truly love and have seen live, so i can say with confidence that if you like Helmet, you will probably appreciate the main riff in Babymetal's 'Doki Doki Morning'. About the Mastodon song: I have a feeling that you also do (or would) like most of Chris Cornell's work with Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Audioslave; I think it's a similar style of singing (but of course Cornell's voice is/was so much better, such a tragedy that he's not around any more).
Oh yeah, I LOVE Helmet and I have seen the live too, back in the 90's. Doki Doki is recorded and awaiting editing and upload but should be out later this week. I listened to Soundgarden(Rusty cage etc) and Temple of the dog back in the day but the funny thing is, I had a hard time liking Chris' voice that EVERYONE loves :-) To me Lane Staley, Kurt Cobain and Eddie Vedder all had "better" voices, meaning I liked them a lot but Chris's felt too heavy metaly to me.
@@dannytheswedishmusixian1513 It's ok. I don't like a lot of voices that everybody seems to love, too. Tastes do differ, that's just how it is.
Yup
You could try Brothers Of Metal "One" (not a Metalica cover). Or Wagakki band "Homura". Alien Weaponry is another one to look at. And last I suggest Small Town Titans. For a good video check out NF "Story".
Thanks! I tried Wagakki but it was not for me so the reaction will not be uploaded.
Alien Weaponry is great. Such a young dudes playing such a great music. It is really impressive.
@@dannytheswedishmusixian1513 Interesting. I like their musicianship and the Japan stuff, obviously, so I'm biased, but I also think the Homura song doesn't work so well. The main guitar parts are really cheesy, and it's only the shamisen / koto parts that save it for me.
Mastodon are great and funny! The drummer is their primary vocal here, but 3 out of the 4 members sing.
I'd like to request "The Motherload" featuring strippers from their quarantine concert- ua-cam.com/video/Wh1ZLEA5rGg/v-deo.html
Just tip if I may- include the band name you're reacting to either in the thumbnail or in the beginning of the title.
Thanks for the tip! Why, does that help?
Hey Danny you like the guitar?...Try bringing up Tina S. I think you will dig that.....
Not really a guitar guy(solo), more bass and drums. But thanks for the tip.
@@dannytheswedishmusixian1513 Yes Tina is another marvel.. solo guitarist ..she grabs my attention like Angelina Jordan does with her vocals.. Both unreal artist
