You know the only thing I kind'a wonder about with Cold Waters is if they assume the Soviets developed 3D printer technology you seem to run into a heckavalot more than the seven actual Alphas they made in real life.
Well the game would be pretty boring if you ran out of Alfas and such to fight after a couple kills. I just like to think that this alternate Soyuz had a lot more resources to play with and maybe a more pliable Warsaw Pact to bully around.
@@kendallsmith5984 You don't build submarines during WW3! By the time any of the news subs are ready to be put in service, the war will already be over.
Don't get me wrong, but that seemed strangely easy. Didn't they improve the AI and crank up the difficulty a while ago? (I haven't played the game in a while.)
It's a Soviet mid cold war era Alfa class vs a Seawolf class submarine, A sub that is considered even today to be one of the most advanced in existence in a 1 vs 1 fight. To put that into an air to air comparison, It's a MiG-21 vs an F-22 . . . If it didn't look easy it would be because I did something horrifically wrong with my attack.
My issue is more with the torpedoes. Although upgraded a few times over the decades, the Mk 48 torpedo is pretty outdated and American submariners have been asking for a successor for decades, while the Russians and Chinese have invested a lot in new torpedo technology continuously. The Seawolf is great and all, but it basically shoots 70s technology level ordnance. To stick with your analogy, the Seawolf is basically a F-22 that is armed with AIM-54 Phoenix missiles. Judging from what you hear about those issues, it seems a bit upside down to me that in this game this old Russian sub seems to have little problems detecting the new hightech American sub, but is then unable to get its torps even near it, while the old Mk 48 torpedoes perform like near perfect fire and forget weapons, at least in comparison to what the Alpha is shooting.
Looking at the very esoteric reactor design of the Alfa class, I can understand why they didn't build many of them.
Magz demonstrates how not to be sunk by your own torpedo
Crimson Lead adcaps are fucking hard to dodge

since its an active war they probably built more after the war started

This campaign reminds me so much of the book SSN. Same China vs US set up and the Russians becoming involved.
I have that book. And I'm pretty sure that Cold Waters is also based on that book.
On board the Alfa:
Снимок, сонарный контакт!
Какая торпеда, капитан?
Все они!
(Yeah, it's Google Translate...)
Going to assume that means something like, "OMG, a Seawolf! FIRE EVERYTHING!!!"
This game is so relaxing to watch
Magz, my dad actually was the executive officer of the USS Seawolf, be careful with it.
USS Scorpion was probably lost due to it torpedoing itself for those who think this is unrealistic
who’s on a magz cold waters binge
I came to youtube to search what penguins sound like. Saw magz uploaded a video.I never clicked so quick in life.
What is up with all these Alphas? Are they coming free with cereal now? :-)
It does feel like it docent it :P
PLAN has tons of them patrolling east of Taiwan.
Pretty sure I sank all 7 of them in first week of my campaign.
I’d like to watch that, might not be able to watch Live but I’d watch them regardless!
I'd love to see that!
good thing these things do their thing
Good show Magz!
I would like to ask that these videos could go on youtube aswell as twitch aswell cause it make it easier for some people.
Very nice
Have you ever identified a whale in the game?
Several times, and I may have. . . **coughs** accidentally had a fish lock one as well. *Don't tell Greenpeace*
Don't Worry.... I'm sure there was nothing you could have done about it
This pun is like an onion.
Yeah, peels away at your humour
Hey Magz, could you restart a 68 campaign ? It seems like doing it on realistic isn't very hard, worth a shot imo.
Keep them coming Magz. By the way is this game moddable?
Totally moddable, I'll be playing a modded campaign for the Chinese/Russian side as soon as I am done with the Seawolf.
Thanks
good morning from germany
Hello neighbouring Germans.
What's the background music?
LOVE cold waters. What about those big fat russian subs - twin hull design ?

@@TrangleC Calling the Mk48 ADCAP outdated doesn't seem right.
That´s your game, isn´t it?
Why didn’t you call this video alfastrike?
