Lakeside Lodge Set Up, Japanese room, Sukiyaki song - Sylvanian Families, Calico Critters

- This set up features the Lakeside Lodge released in 2002 in the UK as well as an Asian inspired theme, including the Sylvanian Families Japanese Room released in 2004.
Song - “Ue o Muite Arukō,” or “I Look Up As I Walk” being the English translation of the Japanese title. Sung by Kyu Sakamoto. Popularly known in many areas outside of Japan as the Sukiyaki song. Kyu Sakamoto lived from 1941-1985, tragically killed in a plane crash. The song was first released in Japan in 1961 and became an international hit by 1963.
The song has been covered in various forms and with numerous different takes on the lyrics and tempo by performers throughout the world. It is truly one of my favorite songs that I have hummed the tune of since my childhood. Kyu had a beautiful voice.

Trust me, I wish I could be even craftier but it’s a balance because there’s only so much time I have to dedicate to this. Also, my set ups are mostly temporary, so not sure I want to put more time into scenery or more complex nuances if I will just have to take it down. But amazing what some of the master collectors out there do!

Is the Japanese Room Set from Re-ment? I wonder if their Dober's Barbershop would scale with the critters. Sylvanian men need their spaces too.

It’s funny that you mention the barber shop. I have plans to make one for my critters. Won’t happen for a long time, though, bc too many other projects. I find that Re-ment tends to be a little too large scale for critters. Some of their accessories fit and some are a little too large. And most furniture seems a little large, though the barber chair is tempting. The Japanese set I use in my video is Sylvanian brand, including the ivory colored bedroom furniture and the low table and cushions in the kitchen. Re-ment does have a very nice looking sushi set that looks like it would scale well with Critters.
