Dude, you have a seriously impressive collection and it seems as though every single one of your pitchers is absolutely beautiful. You definitely know how to take care of Nepenthes and you do it well!
I'm happy to see you have a youtube channel. Thanks for making this video. That was very enjoyable to watch. I have only recently discovered your store too and so far I'm very happy with the purchases I have made. I look forward to more in the future. I LOVE merrilliana and its hybrids. That is my fave plant and always on the look out for them. As well as Lowii crosses. I love the wide opened bell shaped pitchers so anything with lowii in it is great in my book. You have an awesome green house. I definitely like that ventx sibxmerrill at the end. That was amazing.
Aw happy to hear! Keep an eye out as ill have some juicy merrilliana and lowii hybrids in the coming months! And I thank you for your support and interest!!!
Love love all your plants so beautiful. how do you get your plants to make pictures i have one that is growing good but i haven't had any pictures and what do you feed them.
Hi Patricia, Thank you! Usually the main culprit for no pitchers is low humidity. The plants really love high humidity 65% and higher. Also, they love very bright indirect light. For Indoors, I always suggest led or t5 grow lights found on ebay. Always use sphagnum moss as a potting material. They wont grow in soil. Hope that helps!!
Unexpected Guest there are certain plants like N. X harryana, eddy, lowii can be poached. Usually they are larger plants growing from what looks like a cutting and fit a really good price. Only buy from reputable sources to prevent poaching.
love your trip up that mountain in Borneo ! I just got my very first Nepenthes Alata last summer. Is it a hybrid ? I guess this is good for a beginner like me. I love epipys and Angel Trumpets which I breed. on your trip up the mountain I was thinking the Nepenthes plants eat bugs and such. In Central America the Bromeliads would do the same as the nepenthes. What do you think?? What next Nepenthes plant should I get ? Thanks for your education you give us on these wonderful plants! Lynda !
I have that one 32:28, and ampullaria, but their pitchers won't big, I don't know what happened? Maybe because I hung them, so their pitchers not touching the ground, why huh?
Some of those pitchers look awfully full of water. Is there a correct amount to have in them? I ask, because I've never seen pitchers full all the way to the top before, which would kind of defeat the purpose of an insect falling in and not being able to get out. When they're that full, the insect could simply swim to the side and climb back out on the peristome.
Meadmaker 452 Hey there, The pitchers fill with water from our mist system. It’s normal. There’s no correct amount. I only add water if it’s a new plant. Once settled they produce their own and no news to monitor it or supplement it with more. If you visit the plants in the wild many can be filled with water as well:) Even with a lot of water and pitcher fluid they capture and lure insects:)
@@redleafexotics4722 - Interesting. Thanks very much for the response. I've never seen any in the wild, but have always been fascinated by them. I've recently purchased my first nepenthes plant from a local box store and am hoping it does well. The weather is turning warm and humid here in Florida, but I'm still unsure about how much light to give it. Thanks again for your response.
@@redleafexotics4722 - I'll try that, thanks. I have a hibiscus tree in the back yard and I think hanging the nepenthes from the lower branch will create just that effect. Thanks again! :-)
@@redleafexotics4722 Oh my goodness, thank you so much for responding. I wasn't really expecting a response. I want some of this, but will RO with a TDS of 50 kill it? Long story about the systems in our greenhouse and I think this is an issue primarily caused by having a tank and the tds creep that ends up in it. I think if your tap water is over 500, you should have a valve to flush off the first bit of water after the system has sat to get rid of the effluent that passes the membrane when it's not running. Anyway, sorry. If i get a plant from you, does it come in live moss?
Here we have a carnivorus triffidous celestous and it seems to be pulling itself out of the soil . It is coming right at me ! It is ...................
So I just ordered my first carnivorous plant seeds to be arriving in a couple of days. I'm going to check and see if you have a video on how to get the darn things to grow. I'm also very interested as to how you mate the different types.
Nepenthes seed aren't too hard. Ill have to make a vid! Just sprinkle them on top of sphagnum moss, cover if inside and very bright light. A grow light is usually best on for 12-14 hours a day. They can take a couple weeks up to 6 months to germinate. Once they do, keep them misted and bright. To mate them you need a male and female plant. Once the female is fully open and the stigma is sticky with nectar, you collect and brush pollen over it. It takes a few months for the pod to ripen and collect seed:)
Hi! I have a question, I am getting a pitcher plant and have a fogger for humidity control. How many times should have the fogger go off per 24 hours and for how long?
hi the loleii you say a shrew poos into the plant so if i got one of these and i do a dump into the plant would that be ok for the plant for a few weeks yea
gary wright since you are way bigger then a shrew and way different poop...no that wouldn’t work lol probably would die! Ha These do grow well in terrariums depending on the species or hybrid:) I’d say stick with ventricosa and it’s hybrids:) Thanks!!
Do you have any experience growing N. truncata and N. veitchii in lowland conditions? I can't do highland where I'm at and I've always wanted these two but I don't know if all forms of the species can make it or if only certain ones will do well.
Theres lots to imagine, why would anyone want to imagine that? Thank goodness its highly unlikely:) In ideal conditions, Nepenthes dont have many pest;P It truly is a PARADISE!
Hey Domonick I love the way that you present your nepenthes but can I ask you in which conditions do you take care your nepenthes veitchii because I am getting into nepenthes and I want to purchase a veitchii but is it lowland or highland or intermediate.
Hey Erik, There are both lowland and highland forms, the highland forms from Bario/Kelabit highlands,Pa'Umor get their BEST color with cooler temps 75/80F daytime and 55/57 at night. Bright indirect light is best for these and most Nepenthes. Fairly easy to grow:) I grow most my plants under intermediate conditions.
Love how passionate you are about these amazing plants. I collect mainly species, but after watching this video I'm thinking of expanding my hybrid collection. Great stuff! Happy growing!

Amazing work!
I have a question: how can you know whether a nepenthes is male or female before it blooms?
Thanks again for that tour.
You’re welcome Nicolas! You can’t determine the sex until the plant blooms or unless it’s a confirmed male Or female clone. Thanks!!
I love your plant collection! you inspired me to build a nepenthes terrarium and I cant wait to order some plants from you!
