BLOCKHEAD I could hear the gears turning in you head during that video, so I knew it was only a matter of time before you did it to the low rider. You’re gonna have to get together with Shadetree and put the lowrider super agains road King Kong
The bike was dropped off for the 131 kit *before* we put it up against the 110, so it was happening before that, lol. Build schedule got pushed back though, so I picked the bike up and thought it’d be good to do a comparison video on it w the 114 since I had so many requests for it 🤷🏻♂️
Got over 3,000 miles on this big bore in all types of riding conditions. It is freaking fast and a total blast if you can ride it above the 3,500 rpm range. Con: the engine and exhaust will get very hot and you want to be moving above 50 mph to keep it cooled down. Not the way to go if riding in city streets with many red lights or stop -n- go traffic.
Man its crazy how harley has essentially kept the blue print on the engines the same for so long, I had to do major engine work on my shovelhead and im telling you its basiclly the same process just newer parts inbetween
This is exciting to watch as i am waiting for my 131 Kit to come in. mine is going into my 2018 114 Heritage. cant wait. this is so cool to watch. the tech is so cool to watch and actually enjoys explaining stuff. cant wait to see part 2.
That thing is gonna rip! I've done stage 2 cam in both of my 17 SGS and 18 Heritage, and that is a massive change, but this motor in that light bike WOW. Thanks for the vid dude
I really love seeing all this stuff even though I'm still looking to buy my first bike yet. I really appreciate the approachable way you share this info on your channel!
Okay now actually watched the whole vid,it was interesting wow that dude sure knows what he's doing, was not expecting to like seeing this process so much
Yes ethanol vid. When I took my 85 Yamaha virago apart the fuel lines and filters had a varnish from ethanol the filter had a gunk of it looked like pond scum. I’ve only ever ran ethanol free she’s old and picky on gas
I'm no mechanic... wish I was... but these vids, taking us along for an inside look of the work you u had done to your bike is really cool, even for someone who has no idea what I'm lookin at and pretty sure y'all were speakin a different language. 🤣 Thanks for sharing this. Pretty awesome! 👍🏼
Love your videos and channel!!! Since finding your channel you've brought the feeling of wanting a motorcycle again to the surface so thank you!! My wife says thank you also, however hers is usually done with an eye roll 🙄!! Keep up the great work and thanks for inspiring a whole new generation of riders!!
Yes why did you show us a video of this. Now that I know its a thing. I'm about to make a horrible financial choice and get this for my 2020 low rider s!
131ci is bigger than the 4 banger I had in my turbocharged Talon...and that little sucker made over 400hp. Sitting on a 131ci bike motor must be a lot of fun!
I knew this was going to happen. I'm excited to hear your thoughts on the 131. I also want to hear if you have any issues with it. Been thinking about a new bike with the 131.
Thought I was having a cam problem, but ended up being something else. Putting it back together I went with adjustable pushrods because, well, it saved a ton of money (I did upgrade the roller bearing though, like you did). My bike's an '09 FXDL and is my only bike so I can't afford to muck it up too much! Been a great bike since I got it. Have to test ride one on the Softail platform soon just to see.
Notifications for this video didn’t work for me. I literally just laid down in bed so I’ll catch this one tomorrow. Congrats on the upgrade, look forward to checking it out! 😎👊🏼
I've been pondering this kit, vs S&S 128, vs a good Stage II build, for my 2018 Heritage 114. I have seen Stage II get up to 130 FP and 120 HP (browse dyno charts on Fuel Moto). I have seen the 128 get up to 147 FP and 124 HP (check Moonshine H-D for a Softail 128 video). And then, we have the 131's advertised 134 FP and 124 HP (something like that, may be a few off with those numbers). On paper, the most expensive option only matches the power of the cheapest option, and loses to the middle-priced option. But what I am wondering is what happens if you take a 131, put on Fat Cat pipes, use a good cam, and Power Vision tune. Best I can tell, nobody knows, because the people buying 131 kits generally want to maintain their factory warranty so far. Guessing in a year or two, we'll have a lot more data, and see the true power of 131, but for now, it's a tough choice. Very interested to see how your build goes. Thanks for posting!
Blockhead, I seem to be following in your footsteps after following your channel.... Bought my first bike in Jan 2020 (Iron 883).... Traded in 2 weeks ago for a 2020 Low Rider S!
Quickie push rods will eliminate having to remove the heads at a later time . If you change your mind later a mechanic will cut off the pretty push rods just to make the job go by quicker
Did both for a bit, much more fun working on bikes everyday. It does depend on the place you work at though. My cousin worked a few Harley dealers, the 1 he’s at now is cool, the other dealer sucked.
It’s crazy to install that engine with all that power and not upgrading the front and rear suspension first . Need to be able to control all that power . You should look into Ohlins . They have kits for the front and rear .
Avgas 100 LL creates Lead Salts. Very hard and abrasive. The reason aircraft engines are usually only rated for 2,000 hours of operation before overhaul is due to the excessive wear from leaded gas.
What you going to do with the air cleaner that you took off your bike guess it won’t fit the bigger throttle body? I know you will love the 131 kit love the videos keep them coming.
So, you and Shadetree can go ahead and preemptively set up go fund me sites for who gets the highest clocked speeding ticket leading to arrest...looks like this is gonna be a bunch of fun though!
guess i have to watch a few more... last time I heard you debating the 131 you had talked yourself out of it... and.... here we are... i have to have missed a video here or there
You'll be giggling like a 5"10' bearded girl forever in a day now😅😅, Thanks for the upload, seems like ages ago watching the Iron 883 stage 1 upgrades you did.
Do you all have any questions about the Stage 4 131 engine? Drop em below!
Is it legal in California
@@cutbertoavila254 not yet
How worried are you about heat transfer warping in the heads? I know the side walls are flirting with being too thin on the 131.
How much horse power?
Whats the cost for that installed?
Big respect to that Mechanic...knows what he is doing!
As a guy that works in healthcare and in and around the OR environment, I appreciate this guy's OCD and how he has his backtable set up!
Gary Guiste - Agreed!
Congrats on your new engine upgrade sir! A side note, that tech needs to start a channel very entertaining and interesting.
Mike Essary - I agree! We’re already planning more vids 🤘🏼
@@BlockheadMoto very very nice!
Road King Kong has a worthy opponent now
This will blow Road King Kong out of the water. Lmao.
Manuel Baris - Incoming!
Roadking Kong will have nothing on the low rider s in all reality. The roadking is much heavier but would still be interesting to see.
Moto Bobber yeah i know
Sherman Pruitt i agree
Man, he makes it look so easy. Definitely impressed. Can’t wait to see you tearing around on that beast.
Block you’re a mad man putting that 131 on the lowrider I love it
Levi B Had to after trying it in the touring 😁
BLOCKHEAD I could hear the gears turning in you head during that video, so I knew it was only a matter of time before you did it to the low rider. You’re gonna have to get together with Shadetree and put the lowrider super agains road King Kong
I think someone took the loss to Luke's Dyna pretty hard 😂. Blocks making sure that'll never happen again 🤘😎🤘

I was JUST thinking the very same thing....someone is butthurt 😂

Just bustin’ your chops! 😂. Love the channel, and enjoy that 131!

I’m thinking of stage 3 for that reason…still plenty of power
That is what you call a mechanical artist.
Most excited for this video than any others block. Very happy for you. 🤘

Dam I just may have to take a road trip to FL to have this guy work on my bike.
This was / is one of your best vids... Very Awesome! G
Love how the tech makes it look easy
Man its crazy how harley has essentially kept the blue print on the engines the same for so long, I had to do major engine work on my shovelhead and im telling you its basiclly the same process just newer parts inbetween
Thank you for mentioning how most of us are inquisitive on the internals of the engine! I have a better grasp of it after watching this video!
Dude is cool be patient and showing you all this.
This is my favorite video you've done this year. Thanks so much for this!
I really like the "Go Navy" sticker on his tool boxes. Seems like a great guy there. Knows his stuff!!
Love that Rancid is playing in the background around 18:00

I would bet that 131 upgrades will see a jump after this video. Great video and awesome tech!
Gotta respect a shop that runs Lagwagon in the background 👌🏻
When yall started comparing cams, I was getting flashbacks of making radial timing diagrams.
Awesome video. Always cool watching someone who is a master at their craft. Pretty humbling for us typical diy home mechanics.
I had mine upgraded to 117 Stage 3 it’s a rocket ship, that’s going to be insane. Congrats.
Dude that’s so bad ass I’m super excited for you can’t wait to see you rip around on that thing what a beast!!!
So good to see how your friendship started
That rubber band trick with the rods is great. never would have thought of that.

Congrats on the Stage 4 131 kit on your Lowrider S Blockhead! I’m not gonna lie, I’m just a little jealous! 😁

I thought the word tappet came from the days before the hydraulic lifter, back when they were solid lifters and made more noise.
That's correct.

Just ordered my 131 ci for my lowrider s can wait in October in Europe ✌️
This is awesome! Can't wait for the other episodes. Any Dyno comparisons?
Man, that looked so cool to do. Really interesting to see as well.
Super Duke 1290r still offers the largest mass produced piston bore of 4.25 inches vs Harley 4.31 inch bore. Big Bang for torque.
Starting to see alot more of these 131 or so roaming Florida now 🤔 not just for touring bikes
I've been seeing more of them too. Glad to see the economy is doing so well...lol
@@ecrusch yes 👍 indeed somewhat normal, big power upgrades are pricey
Aviation gas has Lead in it so make sure you are not running Catalytic converters or you will plug/ruin them
Oh shit. I was there Tuesday. Eddie is a pretty cool guy
I want to get the lightest bike, the Standard, and put this engine in.
Im watching this with a 2020 standard in the garage thinking the same thing 🤣
You two literally read my mind. Plus I just like the look of the standard.
You'd better get a steady supply of rear tires lined up. 😁
You’d only be able to get the 124. The 131 is only for the 114.
That's the big bore kits. You can buy the 131 crate, and slap it in there.
I would love to have a 131 in my 13 street glide
Love this video being tech head. After Dyna face along comes 131, hope it satisfies
Saw one of my MMI instructors in this vid...
What you going to do with the air cleaner that you took off your bike guess it won’t fit the bigger throttle body? I know you will love the 131 kit love the videos keep them coming.
What, no Brad the Wizard? I guess he's out of your area. :) Seems like straightforward work. Can't wait to see the results.
This has me so stoked
Would’ve been dope if you had the push rods painted gold 😎
Someone is gonna be rippin braaap
How much is this kit? Harley will not list a retail price on their website.
