This was such a peaceful and soothing video to watch. I loved the music. It’s so cool that you were able to find the morels. I’ve never had them but I’m sure they’re a delicacy.
They are very delicious. Sometimes places like Wholefoods or even Vons will have them. I’ve actually bought dehydrated ones at Vons in Vegas. You rehydrate them in water for about 15 minutes, pat them dry and them sauté them in butter. If you love mushrooms they are sublime!
This was awesome Nix! First of all, I have never seen snow flowers in person, hopefully some day, they look incredible. And foraging for your own mushrooms, how fun! They looked delicious cooked there at the end.
I’ve always been very hesitant to forage for mushrooms, but Morels are unique and if you do your research it certainly empowers and gives you confidence to actually eat them. I’m so happy I did this and look forward to my best foraging adventure.
You have to make sure they’re hollow: at the end of the video I cut them in half lengthwise and you can see the hollow interior. Really important because there is FALSE MOREL that looks very similar but it is not hollow and it IS POISONOUS!
Wild mushroom foraging is really useful skill to have, its just the uncertainty of knowing which one's are safe to eat or not. You really gotta know your mushrooms intimately.
Absolutely! I have been researching and learning about morels for a while now. These are the ONLY mushrooms I will forage for. The risk is too great with others. That is why I put that intense disclaimer on the video.
Amazing video!! Did you forage these just last week or is it a while ago? We’re visiting South Lake Tahoe and would love to know when and where to start!
I think I found these the last day of May. But I would think that there are still more to be found with the tempt warming up and the regular rain and thunderstorms the area has been getting the last few weeks. I will tell you I found mine at 6500’ in South Lake Tahoe off of Pioneer Trail near the Caldor Burn area. But I’ve heard people are finding them all over the Tahoe area. I recommend joining “The Lake Tahoe Mushroom Community Group” and “Mushroom Hunters of El Dorado County” on Facebook. Great people in these groups with valuable info. And if you found my video or this comment informative please consider subscribing. :)
This Videos are really good and professionally made, very underrated Channel. Greetings from Austria

I have always seen them in the forest, but I didn't think I could eat them. Good to know. Thanks for sharing the adventure.

At the end of the video when I cook them that is. I HIGHLY recommend researching morel foraging before you go out and attempt!
