Join me as I take my friends to Tecopa and introduce them to this cute, small desert town. It's the perfect opposite to escape the frenzied chaos of the F1 event in Las Vegas - that has seemed to permeate the lives of us Las Vegans, even though we don't live anywhere near the strip!

"Devil After Dark" Marathon in Lovell Canyon
Переглядів 314Рік тому
I've never RUN a marathon, only half marathons - although the idea isn't off the table. I've also never volunteered at a race before, so just a week before the race I decided that I wanted to experience helping at an aid station. And what better place could there possibly be than Lovell Canyon. A place I'm very familiar with, where I've both ran and camped. The added bonus is helping Calico Rac...

Hello I’m from south Fl. Is it safe to drive from Las Vegas to S. Lake Tahoe late December?
@@celsohurtado9787 Ca 120 is likely going to be closed for the winter season in late December. The road is at high altitude and they don’t plow the snow, so they just close it. If you take an alternate route to Tahoe, I would strongly suggest bringing chains with you if you don’t have 4WD / AWD with snow tires.
I think this will be my next marathon. I haven't ran one in years but ready to go for it. Any suggestions you can give would be greatly appreciated.
@@davidhardwick378 This is a GREAT race with all different course lengths! People have so much fun! I would suggest maybe train at an altitude of 5,000’ because that is the altitude of Rachel, Nevada.
also check out Pope house
he also owned a lion as a pet
loved loved this place
Question for the Locals... Do I need to rent an AWD to go up there?
@@genergonzalez6258 The only time you need AWD is when it snowing on the mountain.
It’s owned by the university of Nevada Reno
My kids went to Whittell High school which is in Zephyr Cove, NV for those that are unfamiliar with the area. Having been in Tahoe since 1970 I never knew the story about George Whittell so thanks for the information.
One small creectio to the narrative: there are actually three summits on this drive rather than two. Lida Summit, Gilbert Pass and Westgard Pass.
Appreciated this video as I plan a trip there in a couple weeks. Any access issues on Owens Road? I have a 4 Runner towing a 17 foot Winnebago trailer. Thanks!
I’m in WeRock!🎉 FWI, Couch K. Is one of the founders.
You are amazing and thank you for watching Coach K and me in this video. WeRock is such a great a thing! The inspiration it provides to endure and cross the finish line is emblematic of Andrea and her love of the individuals who she coaches!
That place she went yo first is such a cool place. Even if you’re just there for a drink.
can you park close to the river?
Very beautiful, I will visit that and Cedar Breaks.
Hi, I'm in June Lake, CA and plan on taking this route I think, to Henderson, Nevada tomorrow morning, taking hwy 395 to hwy 120 to the 6 to 264 to 266 to the 95. can you tell me where there would be gas station along the way? In Beatty? Or Benton?
@@G.Photogirl There are a few places to gas up - 1. LEE VINING off 395 before you turn on to the 120, 2. BENTON where 120 meets up with the 6d, 3. Dyer (at Esmeralda Market) off of the 264. You should gas up at one of those BEFORE you hit Beatty. And then gas up again in Beatty.
@@NixAdventrex thank you for your quick response!!
Hi I am Bill. I'm not sure your aware, but you can't fly a drone in a national park or state park. Some of your video looks to have been by a drone. I just don't want you to get caught. You can be fined heavily and your drone confiscated. Just trying to help
You should make a video of the mancen mansion of godfather
Cool 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
Another nice video. Thank you!🎉
Nice video of a beautiful area. Thank you for bringing it! 🎉 Your companion pet is chill and cute! ❤
my gf and i were there at night and the mites bit the heck out of us--i like the developed hot springs like Delights--much cleaner but cost monehy
Good morning!
I just stumbled on your video today August 18, 2024. I am a fan of places you’ve visited..Never stop exploring beautiful and amazing places…
Just FYI you can't see Area 51 from there. It's behind a mountain in the Mercury Valley.
I'm glad I found your channel. Good videography and interesting content. We traveled that highway back in 2018. We didn't boondock (we're such losers!) but we thoroughly enjoyed the entire drive. New sub and I should mention that your speaking voice is spot on. I get frustrated with today's kids who talk way faster than my brain can process!
Thank you. Driving in from Northern California.
Does this Rounte have a steep Southbound mountain pass like you get going on I-15 heading into Fontana?
@@hrpickinstuff it gets hilly at times, but there really isn’t a severe mountain pass. Maybe a small one going into the 29 Palms area after Amboy and then a bit of a pass / mountain corridor coming down into the Palm Springs area. But I driven far more severe passes.
Crystals for radios
I severely dislike how depressing Vegas landscape looks 😢
Very nice job on the video and the narration especially
Nice video !!! I’m thinking sand beach would be better due to the sun being cast over. But I’ve beeen interested in this spot so thank you 🙏
I have memories, cherished memories of living in North Lake Tahoe for a while. I was the percussionist and vocalist in an acoustic band that played all original music, which sounded much like Crosby, Stills and Nash or Neil Young's type of music. We performed in the "Rusty Scuppers" of the day and other locations where acoustic music was favored. This was in the mid 1970's. It will always remain the best original music I ever played. Now a singer-songwriter, I still play one of signature songs from that band, a song written by a friend of ours - songwriter Steve Peters - the song: "Dixieland Lady". Though I have tried many times to locale a few of those I played music with at that time, sadly I have lost touch with a couple of them. I was very surprised a few years back to find that a blue grass group - The Cache Valley Drifters, had recorded a blue grass version of Dixieland Lady that you can still listen to on You Tube. Our version was slower and a ballad, but beautiful still. One of my originals songs has a mention of Tahoe in it, which I wrote when I lived there: "Man From the Mountain Country". The line from this song that "says it all" is: "I no longer live in the Mountain country, but I'm still there in a special way." I just want to express how much I was moved by seeing my old "haunts" of Incline Village and Kings Beach during your trip around the lake. When Mesa was "on" the music was.....stunningly beautiful...ahhhh love the memories I hold of living in Lake Tahoe in the 70's. Thank you for the images I saw today of my favorite place in the U.S.: North Lake Tahoe. Cheers! Brian - Las Vegas
Brian here, if any of my comments seemed inappropriate, please know that this is the first time I have watched your videos so my comments about meeting you, except strictly as friends and certainly traveling at any time with you on your travel would most likely not be proper. Did not know you were married. Still, I of course will keep enjoying your videos and wishing you your cute puppy and you your husband well! Brian
Lake Tahoe is my most favorite place in the US - played music there in the early 70's.
Just a year ago and people were forced to wear those stupid masks! Can't believe it. Life long Star Trek fan - glad I did not come that year, as I would refuse to be forced to wear a mask by those requiring this ineffective stupid control over us! Resistance against this travesty is NOT futile.....
CalNeva and Tahoe Biltmore are both closed so that leaves Crystal Bay as the only operating casino in North Shore? WOW thats surprising since all NV gaming is making so much money these days. I guess South Shore is still where 95% of folks go in Tahoe. Thats too bad because CalNeva was an awesome (and CHEAP) place to stay even as late as the mid 2000s.
Superb video! I really enjoyed the relaxed flow of your trip, the little waterfall was cool. Also taking the time to visit the snack bar and the Shakespeare booth. Lots of terrific pointers. Thanks!
drop the footage of you 2 and the dog and you'd have a hit!
Be careful!

We have a resort at South Lake Tahoe that we visit typically in May and September when the weather is usually good and the number of tourists is way down. When we did this tour around 2020 there was no shuttle. Our tour was suppose to be with another couple, but they rescheduled and it was just the 2 of us with our guide. We did the tunnel to the boathouse, but did not see the pool site. Amazing that the Thunderbird boat is still there and there will be boating events at the lake when it might be seen. Good tour, good information, good stories that may or may be modified a bit.
Greetings, is the Nevada 207 a very steep road? I’m terrified of driving on very steep edges
we just drove these routes June2024, SO SCARY! DO NOT GO TO THESE ROUTES
Great review‼️
I’ve never been to the travertine pools in my 60 years of camping the eastern Sierra. And , good to know about the dispersed camping. Don’t forget to pick up after your dog. Not good to leave it out there. Thanks for the video.
Hi Nix, haven't seen a new video in months, I hope all is well with you! Best wishes :)
I know. Sorry. I started a new a job a few months ago, so the channel has fallen behind. I’ll put something out eventually! I hope! 😊
@@NixAdventrex I know how that goes! Happy to hear that everything’s fine though 😄
I ran the 100k that day and it was INSANELY brutal with the heat! Heading back from Housewife hill, I passed all the 200 milers and was seriously impressed by how well they were moving despite the temps. I’m about a third of the way through the video and excited to see it through! Well done 🙌🏻
I think I watched your video on the 100k. My runner Andrea thought the 100k-ers were super faster 200 runners 😆 . Then she realized at one of the aid stations there was another race!
those big x are actually just what you think they are--they are for location and boundary marking from the air or sattelite etc. I even run into them in odd places in town.
