  • We took the new Tiger Explorer out for a test ride. We made this review on all sorts of terrain, from the highway to secondary, bumpy roads, and soft off-road.
Our first impression? The Triumph Tiger Explorer XCa is a luxurious trans-continental machine. Probably the most comfortable in its class. You can ride it all day long without getting tired.
The XCa suffix indicates that this Tiger Explorer comes with spoked wheels and enduro characteristics (XC), while the a letter indicate that this is the top-spec version.
Enjoy our Tiger Explorer 1200 XCA Ride!

Struggling with the power of the engine? No f' way dude, it's definitely something wrong with your rig there! I've got this bike for 2+ years now, 26K kms with lots of camping gear and luggage. It's always a thunderstruck, way more power than I ever needed, NEVER struggling with power! And I've ride the big KTMs and Beemers, the Rocket III and Yamaha R1 for 22 years now, I'm not at all stranger of the full open throttle! However, congrats for the superb filming and landscape.. I miss that country ;-)

Thumbs up to you guys. I enjoyed watching this video very much. I've subscribed too.
I own an Explorer and agree with most of your comments. For me, the bike is powerful enough even when fully loaded with passenger and luggage. It's true what you say about the high weight, Triumph need to make the next one lighter.
In 2008, my wife and I rode to Romania from the UK. We had a great time there, I often wonder how it has changed since then.

nice review guys....i have the 800 and its amazing machine, I would disagree on the power option as I have tested the 1200 which is on my shopping list :)
Great country by the way, doing a road trip there soon.

Liked the review, important comments for me were about the heavy weight and confort. As I am going to ride more on roads, guess it will do well compared to the 800, also considering my height of 1,84m and long inseam.

I was really surprised to hear it was low on power? Did you try it with all throttle maps? Even more surprising to hear it seems to top out at 4000 rpm?

Its max power comes at 9000 rpm. I am yet to see the video so don't know what he means by 'topping out'. English is not his native language I think, perhaps he misspoke.

l have owned the first generation and have done 43,000 miles , now own the second generation 7,000 miles in three months. shocked by the statement of having no power above 4,000 rpm? max torque 6,500 . max power at 9,500 rpm. he's having a laugh! there's enough power.

The weight of this bike is just ridiculous. This has became the new segment of motorcycles. It's like modern SUVs. Look like they can go off road but it is only an illusion.

Heavy. yes. Lack of power? no F... way.
