Apparently the authorities in Bali are thinking of banning foreigners from hiring motorcycles, and scooters, due to the fact many tourists aren't wearing helmets, speed and wear open shirts when riding, of there might be leeway for motorcycle license holders.
Hope you’ve fully recovered now Freddie. Lounging about in Edinburgh watching the beauty of Bali float by is one of the incredible luxuries of the 21st century. Stunning as ever from you both.
That's more like it, quiet and beautiful 😊I don't even mind the rain, it wouldn't look like it does without it. Great video and glad you're back to full strength, the food does look stunning and very healthy. There's something nice about tootling along on a small bike, I think you get more of the experience of the place, the smells and you see a lot more as you aren't in a rush to get anywhere. Thanks for taking us with you again.
These videos bring back memories of my times in Bali. Especially in the northern rural areas. Beautiful country and wonderful people, always ready to help and invite you into their homes. Definitely worth a return visit. Thanks Freddie and Monika for sharing. Cheers, Dan. ✌️🏍🇨🇦
@@pecintakenikmatanindomie I was referring to the beauty of the countryside generally. Of course it is not technically a country. I think most readers, except you apparently, new what I meant. D.
I think motorcycle companies and designers hope and pray that their bikes end up in front of someone like you Freddie. Someone that takes the time to understand the culture of where they are, the intent and purpose of the bike, and how the two interact with each other in such an empathetic way. You two are doing the industry a great service.
Hi Freddie. I am from India and have been watching your videos from past 6 months and have subscribed you for latest updates. I just love hearing your perspective on almost everything you explain. The current Bali trip is stunningly shot by you two and I loved each bit of it. You are amazing and you videos are beautifully engaging. Thank you so much for such good quality and knowledge full content as always.
Greetings from down under. Thanks for taking us along Freddie and Monika. Visiting Bali in the 70,s and 80,s last century was a vastly different experience. My budget was $1aud per day including accomodation in a homestay losmen. That included breakfast of a bowl of bananas and a thermos of hot sweet tea. When we could budget for it our go to transport was to hire pushbikes or travel to the mountains by local bemo. Love your work. Thanks again.
Love to see your vlog from Bali. Me and my girlfriend just visited Bali for 6 weeks and made similar roadtrips out on the country side. Bali is truly an amazing place and we are already planning to go back next year for more scoopy roadtrips. 😅
Wow, that's amazing and a part of the country we don't often see, thanks for bringing us along. Well done Monika you really captured the sense of the place.
Just WOW. ! Loved every second of this video especially the intro. Great views with a perfect sound track. This would not look out of place on any main stream channel. Stunning. Thank you both, Monika, your filming and editing would make this film perfect for the Bali tourist board. Can't wait for the next episode. Cheers Martin.
so glad your feeling better buddy....going to...and seeing some of these places...can make you much more appreciative of what you do have...but long to go back again..a much slower, simpler life outside of the city...the peacefulness is very addicting...living vicariously through you once again...excellent video...

Wow this is truly evocative the music and scenery ideally matched. Glad uve recovered freddie had it in Malta was hospitalised for 4 days in 1988. Ate some clams that was the culprit. Its amazing how weak u become in a short time. I hope I get to see Bali one day truly wonderful. Thanks for bringing this to us. I think your productions could really be mainstream tv series. An now 64 and only had one crash in ice. But I love riding them semi autos and what it would be to ride in a climate like that and me too would not wear many clothes …part the freedom and visceral pleasure
Four days in hospital- that is serious! Monika gave me pills to force me to throw up- this sped up the process🤢 Little commuter bikes are magic; jump on, jump off, normal clothes, ultra simple, tough little things built to be used and abused💪🏼
What an absolute gem of a UA-cam channel. I stumbled upon a review video of yours for motorcycle boots (I don’t even have a bike, I just like these style of boots for my wardrobe) and instantly got hooked. Thank you Freddie and Monika for sharing your travels, passions, and experiences with the world. P.S. Bali looks strikingly similar to Thailand! -An American
The north of the island and volcano's are beautiful areas for riding. It can get quite cool at wet in the mountains so worth bringing a waterproof jacket. If you're looking for peace and tranquility Sure beats the overcrowded south
Thank you both for another delightful film. Beautifully filmed and edited-so very interesting. I’m glad you’re having a good time and I can’t wait for the next episode. Stay safe!
As a fairly new subscriber, I’m really enjoying watching all your videos, this one in particular as I’ll be in Bali next month and looking forward to visiting some of the places you’ve suggested. Glad your feeling okay now.
A beautiful episode Freddie & Monika. The tourist area all looks a bit too frenetic for my taste but your trip to the country and the tranquility of the restaurant and Hindu temple was on a different level. Hope the internal volcanics have all settled and you’re back to full strength. Stay safe you two and thanks for my favourite Sunday morning armchair adventure.
It feels 1,000 miles from the crazy tourist area, but incredibly it’s only around 30 miles away as the crow flies (I couldn’t believe it when I checked on a map)😳 Thank Nick- back to full strength now!
Ohh Freddie & Monika, a truly amazing adventure, beautifully captured & presented! Fantastic production & time appreciated. Bali belly isn’t a great way to start this journey. Hopefully you recover quickly 🙏 So much nicer being away from the high traffic & touristy areas. You both are super cool & extremely creative duo. Keep enjoying your adventures & thanks for capturing these memories 🙌 The little REs are fun little machines 👌 I just wished you’d come to Melbourne🙏
Thank you so much, Steve! Lithuanians are clearly made of tougher stuff than me because Monika and I had exactly the same food and drink and she just had a “slightly funny feeling for 20mins”, and that’s it!

Very well observed- I’d never even considered this and you’re spot on- there are almost no road signs, no speed signs- nothing at all. It’d be close to impossible to navigate without satnav, and I genuinely have no idea what any speed limits are here😆
@@FreddieDobbs when travelling in the city the established speed limits are 50 kph (or stated otherwise on the speed limit sign), when in and around a village/settlement the speed limits are 30 kph (or stated other wise). And when going out between the city/regency, the speed limits are up to 80 kph (unless stated otherwise), because all over Indonesia, only in Bali there's a toll road available for motorcycle, with protected lanes separate from four wheelers and up.
Having breakfast with Freddie and Monica , nice music cool video what a great beginning of the day ! Thanks for sharing, greetings from the Netherlands 🙏
Watching from Bathinda India again. Back in India for the next three months!!! Been there many times with stomach/food issues since i work overseas. In 10 days i've travelled India to Canada back to India and back to Canada my body had no idea what was going on, in between those legs are 8 hours drives from Bathinda to Delhi and Back it plays a number on your body!!! Glad to see you are both back on the mend. Best wishes to you both, thank you for something wonderful to watch on a Sunday evening before we start work again bringing two chemical reactors on line hopefully!!!!
Hi Freddie and Monika, I can’t begin to tell you how much I enjoy watching your video. Since you travel a lot, let me recommend a very simple but important “first aid” to keep in mind. At any given time when you have to endure stomach upset, whether a 24 hour stomach flu or unduly food that you think you might have eaten, the best medicine to have is either to drink sprite or seven up until your stomach settles. And if you have altitude sickness in case you hit the Andes or some high altitude places, drink Gatorade or some drink that will help your electrolytes. These two drinks will work like magic. Although, maybe someday you might want to go on a bike ride on the Hawaiian islands, I hope to see you on Waikiki where I live. Continue your journey and always be safe.🏄♂️🏄♀️🏄
Wonderful video guys especially the beginning which I thought was very professional indeed Well Done Monica! Hope your feeling a lot better Freddie 👍🏻😎
Hi , another amazing video of your adventures , what a lovely place , out side of the tourist areas , room to breath take in the air and eat for a past time . Enjoy your selves , have fun and glad to see you , feeling better . Thanks Freddie and Monica , catch you on the next one .😉👍👍
Glad you're better. Get a Kindle and read novels, Freddie. Start with mine 😀. I'm surprised anyone buys bike magazines anymore. When I was in Tokyo in the early '90s, I subscribed to BIKE. It was the highlight of my month when it arrived. Apart from the nights out in Roppongi. 13:07 Aerox alert. Yamaha Aerox 155: my scooter in Thailand. The scenery is not so different from northern Thailand. For example, 18:53 could easily be less than a kilometre from where we live, just north of Chiang Rai City. The rice fields, the palms trees, the mountains in the distance.
I really should read books too! These online subscriptions are a brilliant way to read multiple titles🙂👌🏻 It’s a stunning part of the world and Thailand too- I LOVE Thailand!❤️
Nice video. Not sure the improvised clothing would have passed muster if you'd come across anyone at the temple, and this can sometimes be quite a sensitive issue. Since you guys are here for a while, you might consider buying a couple of inexpensive sarongs and sashes to keep in the bike for impromptu stops at temples. Take care and ride safe!
Another top video. When we were there, I kept seeing carrier bags in the tree's and wondered what was going on. The fruit you showed later in the year they wrap them in carrier bags in the tree's to keep the insects off. They make a fantastic curry with them, they have a strange texture rather like tuna.
Nice video, Bali looks lovely but the traffic is way too intense in the tourist areas, out in the country it is amazing. Enjoy, ride safe. Thanks both.
Great video Freddie. You should ride down to Pendawa beach. Both you and Monika can take a tandem paraglider flight over the cliffs with beautiful views of the sea. After that you can ride to the Uluwata Temple with its fantastic views and gardens. That would make a great episode.
Well got to give credit here to you both, you really nailed it with this vlog, I'll not waffle on I'll just say it was indeed spectacular showing us the real Bali.
Cracking vlog mate, enjoying it from down under. If you want to see some old motors in Bali, find Kebon classic cars near Sanur. Also track down The Man Shed in Sanur. Keep up the great work.
I enjoy watching these videos from Bali, but also i like to hear your speech and the perfect accent 🙃🙃 You emphasize and use so many different ajectives when describing the area, views, food, i think my English gets better 🙌
We had a fantastic holiday in Bali about 4 or 5 years ago. We even got to experience a massive earthquake one night. We only found out the next morning at breakfast, that pretty much everyone had evacuated the building and gone to high ground. (We just went back to bed🤣) I guess when you grow up in 60s/70s Belfast, your response to threat and danger gets a bit jaded🤣🤣
i suggest you to have your own sarong, it's very convenient stuff to wear when you're in a cold area to warm your body, you can also wear it as picnic mat when you're on the beach, or to dry yourself when it's rain and you have no towels around, and sarong is a must when you enter praying area whether it's a Hindu temple or a the mosque of Muslim.
How do you guys nail the music so well. I'm a musician and I'm always wondering which one of you is the musical genius. Especially loved the track at 27min . Thank you for sharing The Dream
I visited Bali in 1986. Like all places, especially those reliant upon tourism, the march of time has not been kind to a lot of that lovely Island. Looks like there are still a few stunning places remaining though.
Nature landscape in bali is beautiful , you both right visited n explore this area , i like enjoyed your content too , b'couse i see many green n green landscape area
Hi Guys, it's funny my wife said you didn't look well in your last video maybe it was the start of your Deli belly. You two would do great in race across the world! It's back on TV soon you should watch it. Really enjoying following your travels👌
I 've never been to Bali but one year ago I followed Lithuanian guy for 4 month travelling through Sumatra, Java, Bali, Comodo on his bycikle, so he showed very controversies sides of this country. I very appreciate your vlogs dear Freddie and Monica! Will you climb Angungo? As always good luck, stay safe a d sound😊
Ahhhh I’ll find this channel- this sounds like a great cycling adventure! I’m not sure if we’ll climb it, but I have been told that the sunrise is stunning at the top, so I’m tempted!🙂
maybe you can also check kristian hansen from Denmark ride a bike from sabang to merauke which is from west to east indonesian archipelago and he got sponsored bike from KTM indonesia and also the lost boys from USA do the same ride from sabang to merauke and they got spnsored by kawasaki indonesia and been invaded by the minister of tourism in indonesia
as balinese if you really want to explore rural area in bali rent a small tough car like jimny bring couple of instant food & blanket get lost in bedugul, mt agung, mt batur, you will see so many exotic place also don't forget data plan & local sim card in case of emergency i think you should check the biggest & the oldest temple called pura besakih dont forget to bring proper sarung
Stunning - wonder how tourists without scooters get to see the real Bali. Reminds me a bit of the authenticity of Vietnam countryside. Bought you both a coffee - one only because prices so cheap!
Love the videos Freddie, I binge watched them when I discovered them 😅 Have you seen any accidents since you have been there? It looks absolutely mental. Brian
Seeing this makes me want to visit Bali. Have to admit the touristy areas are far too busy and chaotic for my taste. Also food poison is no joke, just went through what sounds like the same experience as you had in Mauritius. An entire night of throwing up every 15 minutes, when theres nothing left to throw up 🤢Glad you are feeling better Freddie.
@Freddie Dobbs a lot of people tell me not to buy a Chinese scooter but most of the electric bikes in the UK are from China and two of mine are from China 🤔
It’s incredible how quickly you get used to it. It’s an unorganised chaos where everyone seems to be on the same page. But… it’s intense… all the time😳
Really enjoy your guys videos, really nicely done. BTW. Random note (apologies if duplicate): I see Bali is planning to ban foreign tourists from using motorbikes, according to one UK news site, at any rate. Keep up the good work!
It's a beautiful place but that traffic is mad, pleased to see you wearing trainers! 🙄 Sorry to hear you've been ill but glad you're now ok. We really enjoy your vids 😎
Hope your feeling better now. As always great video tours, how do you find your way around on your bike, as you don’t seem to be using SatNav, or are you using Google maps on your phone?
Thx 🙏🏻 kept your word & gave us some other impressions of Bali. Go further & bit deeper in the countryside, have a look at the Batur and some other mountain area, stay overnight, it’s worth it ❤ ride & eat safe 😂 👍🏻
Interesting guy's as I sit here with the snow melting outside sipping my caramel latte watching this I am thinking that I would not really want to go there .This surprises me a little because I had thought that Bali would be like a paradise kind of place but it really isn't , wet damp humid and I am guessing with all that standing water a lot of mosquitos and other nasties and to my complete surprise the food does not appeal from what you have shown .Sorry to hear you have been ill Freddie this was also a surprise since you are both vegetarians /vegans ,but I guess even non meat eaters can get food poisoning😁 . My wife ha it in Spain once and it was not nice at all it took a good few days out of the holiday .Great watch though guys well done 😉👌👍
Bali definitely isn’t for everyone. It’s strangely un-relaxing, because there are no proper pavements, it’s relentlessly humid, the roads have no real rules… and I could go on and on😆 I totally understand why some would not like it at all🙂
A memory lane trip, lived in Brunei during the 90’s n went to Bali twice. First was Kuta and yep the street vendors drive you nuts, one Aussie tourist brought Main Street to a standstill with a “won’t you just fu@£ off”… Next trip was Ubud way just like where you were, tranquil. Liking your vlog sound tracks 😎
Got sick in Bali / lombok myself, I like meat but would probably go veggie out there, also super careful on the hygiene where you choose to eat, getting sick can really ruin the experience - which is special
The incredible selection of cafes and restaurants is a big reason for us to pick the busy areas. It was a toss up between the natural beauty of these traditional areas, and the convenience of the touristy areas🙂
I recently got my license and I'm thinking of buying my first motorcycle. What do you think about a 2010 bonneville with 9,300miles on it, the same one you ride?
You can try Readly with my link and will you’ll get two months free, which can be cancelled at any time: readly.com/freddiedobbs

Amazing content as always Freddie!
Another top video.
When we were there, I kept seeing carrier bags in the tree's and wondered what was going on.
The fruit you showed later in the year they wrap them in carrier bags in the tree's to keep the insects off.
They make a fantastic curry with them, they have a strange texture rather like tuna.
Interesting! I think there’s a sign on our hotel door telling people to not bring these fruits inside because they smell very bad(?)😆🤷♂️
thanks for another lovely episode . you both make it just like being there . your work is much very much enjoyed by so many . best wishes as always .
Thank you so much John, that means a lot🙂
Nice video, Bali looks lovely but the traffic is way too intense in the tourist areas, out in the country it is amazing. Enjoy, ride safe. Thanks both.
Great video Freddie. You should ride down to Pendawa beach. Both you and Monika can take a tandem paraglider flight over the cliffs with beautiful views of the sea. After that you can ride to the Uluwata Temple with its fantastic views and gardens. That would make a great episode.
Thank you, I’ll save this!🙂
Well got to give credit here to you both, you really nailed it with this vlog, I'll not waffle on I'll just say it was indeed spectacular showing us the real Bali.
Delighted you enjoyed it, thank you Lee!
You can’t beat a good clear out
😆
Really beautiful
(We just went back to bed🤣)
I guess when you grow up in 60s/70s Belfast, your response to threat and danger gets a bit jaded🤣🤣
I love this!!🤣🤣🛌
i suggest you to have your own sarong, it's very convenient stuff to wear when you're in a cold area to warm your body, you can also wear it as picnic mat when you're on the beach, or to dry yourself when it's rain and you have no towels around, and sarong is a must when you enter praying area whether it's a Hindu temple or a the mosque of Muslim.
How do you guys nail the music so well. I'm a musician and I'm always wondering which one of you is the musical genius. Especially loved the track at 27min .
Thank you for sharing The Dream
Monika was delighted to read this- it’s all her! Thank you Mike🙋🏻♀️
@Freddie Dobbs Freddie, what's the name of your black leather motorcycle jacket please.
Great video, stunning view and a lovely couple to show me around. I will never need a passport if I keep watching your videos. Thank you.
Thank you🙂
@@FreddieDobbs great stuff buddy, you have a friend in virginia!. Keep it up. Thanks for your tour in life.
I visited Bali in 1986. Like all places, especially those reliant upon tourism, the march of time has not been kind to a lot of that lovely Island. Looks like there are still a few stunning places remaining though.
I can imagine is was untouched by tourism back then! You are right- many of the built up areas are not the prettiest
Nature landscape in bali is beautiful , you both right visited n explore this area , i like enjoyed your content too , b'couse i see many green n green landscape area
Freddie, you both need to get a couple of sarongs to cover up.
They're great for the beach too.
Great video. Lovely content.
Keep up the great work.
Hi Guys, it's funny my wife said you didn't look well in your last video maybe it was the start of your Deli belly. You two would do great in race across the world! It's back on TV soon you should watch it. Really enjoying following your travels👌
Bali belly 😅
I think I constantly look ill here in Bali because I’m sweating constantly😆🥵
Ahhh yes I’ve heard of this- I will watch this!
I’m not sure if we’ll climb it, but I have been told that the sunrise is stunning at the top, so I’m tempted!🙂
maybe you can also check kristian hansen from Denmark ride a bike from sabang to merauke which is from west to east indonesian archipelago and he got sponsored bike from KTM indonesia and also the lost boys from USA do the same ride from sabang to merauke and they got spnsored by kawasaki indonesia and been invaded by the minister of tourism in indonesia
as balinese if you really want to explore rural area in bali rent a small tough car like jimny bring couple of instant food & blanket get lost in bedugul, mt agung, mt batur, you will see so many exotic place also don't forget data plan & local sim card in case of emergency
i think you should check the biggest & the oldest temple called pura besakih
dont forget to bring proper sarung
Stunning - wonder how tourists without scooters get to see the real Bali. Reminds me a bit of the authenticity of Vietnam countryside. Bought you both a coffee - one only because prices so cheap!
Love the videos Freddie, I binge watched them when I discovered them 😅
Have you seen any accidents since you have been there? It looks absolutely mental.
Brian
Thanks Brian! It’s an unorganised chaos, but I haven’t seen one crash, which I think is completely mind blowing! It somehow works😳
It's so nice to go around the world watching your shows. Refreshing and relaxing. I wish I could be there. For now, your shows are enough. 5/22/24.
Paradise heaven in the word
Morning Freddie. Sounds like you've joined the Bali slim fast club ! Hope you're better now. 🏴
The involuntary slim fast club😆 I think I lost 2kg in 24 hours!🤢
Seeing this makes me want to visit Bali. Have to admit the touristy areas are far too busy and chaotic for my taste. Also food poison is no joke, just went through what sounds like the same experience as you had in Mauritius. An entire night of throwing up every 15 minutes, when theres nothing left to throw up 🤢Glad you are feeling better Freddie.
It’s dreadful isn’t it, Kristian! I really have never felt so bad🤢
fdfdfd
Always drinking water coconut every day
Every time I watch you on this latest series I feel like rushing out and buying a scooter 💙👌🏾
A part of me wants to bring this Scoopy back to England!
@Freddie Dobbs a lot of people tell me not to buy a Chinese scooter but most of the electric bikes in the UK are from China and two of mine are from China 🤔
What a beautiful place. I bet it is stressful riding in the touristy bits, it’s stressful watching it.
I really believe this’ll decimate the tourism sector- if it’s acted upon (which it looks like it will be!😳)
It's a beautiful place but that traffic is mad, pleased to see you wearing trainers! 🙄 Sorry to hear you've been ill but glad you're now ok. We really enjoy your vids 😎
It is relentless traffic that never seems to abate😳
Thank you so much- I hope I now how some immunity to the “Bali belly”!
I'm guessing Monica picks the soundtrack? Well done, Monica. 👏
Each video has introduced me to new great songs. Like (My California). Be safe
Delighted you like the music, David- it’s all Monika🙂🎶
@Freddie Dobbs Thank you, Mr. Dobbs
You and Monica. Ride on.
Hope your feeling better now. As always great video tours, how do you find your way around on your bike, as you don’t seem to be using SatNav, or are you using Google maps on your phone?
Hi Raymond, I use a Quad Lock mount with my phone and then have google maps to navigate me wverywhere🙂👌🏻
Thx 🙏🏻 kept your word & gave us some other impressions of Bali. Go further & bit deeper in the countryside, have a look at the Batur and some other mountain area, stay overnight, it’s worth it ❤ ride & eat safe 😂 👍🏻
I definitely will do- Batur looks very moody!
@@FreddieDobbs G. Anung is worth too (especially early in the morning) ✨
Thank you.
It’s strangely un-relaxing, because there are no proper pavements, it’s relentlessly humid, the roads have no real rules… and I could go on and on😆
I totally understand why some would not like it at all🙂
I wonder if the huts in the fields also serve as a shelter during a lightning storm? Thanks for sharing. I will probably never get there
Great video, with all that water and heat are there many insects?? Glad you recovered from your illness I had the same in Turkey once, not nice.
I have an insect phobia, but even I’m fine in Bali! It’s totally fine🙂
Hi Freddie, your channel and videos are great. Please may I ask what sunglasses you have? Many thanks and safe travels 🤘
Thanks Chris!🙂 Of course; the Persol Calligrapher
@@FreddieDobbs Thanks Freddie 🙂👍
Lovely vid.
I got bali belly once after a big night out, though it was coming from both ends, so decisions had to be made! i opted for throwing up in a bucket ;)
I feel your pain🤣
Freddie, will you provide a summary video of the costs of all your trip. Would be interesting to know. Thank you.
Question - so why stay in the centre when you could stay in the countryside? Brilliant series btw!
The incredible selection of cafes and restaurants is a big reason for us to pick the busy areas. It was a toss up between the natural beauty of these traditional areas, and the convenience of the touristy areas🙂
Looks stunning there, pissing with rain here and BBC/Lineker spat dominating UK news
I’ve been following this. The BBC’s just apologised and Lineker stood his ground- it’s been fascinating
Come to Toraja, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. You can see unique traditional in the world..
Thanks Andiaco, I’ll save this🙂
Feels like a whole other World over there!
Awesome Bali vlogs.. Hopefully one day you'll visit Boracay Island, Philippines. I would like to meet a fellow classic motorcycle enthusiasts.
Ahhhhh we were so close to booking Boracay! I really want to visit one day🙂
@@FreddieDobbs Awesome! I look forward to it. I will definitely ride to Boracay when that comes.
I recently got my license and I'm thinking of buying my first motorcycle. What do you think about a 2010 bonneville with 9,300miles on it, the same one you ride?
I cannot recommend it more highly! Timeless, versatile, incredibly tough and reliable and so easy and cheap to work on🙂👌🏻👌🏻
