In search of paradise. We caught the ferry from Bali's east port town of Sanur and hopped on a boat to the tiny Indonesian islands of Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan.
Ceningan is just 3km sq, with a population of 1,600, and Lembongan is 8km sq with a population of around 5,000.

What a great video Freddie and Monica. I first visited Lembongan in 2007 and fell in love - 16 years later and our hearts are just as full, having built The Tamarind Resort - one of the largest employers on the island. Anyone thinking of visiting, feel free to ask me any questions - we'd love to host you or help you find the best place to stay to suit your needs. Enjoy! Monty
Amazing, I’ll pin this comment to the top, Monty🙂🙌🏻
Looks like an amazing place for a holiday
Paradise is being with the person you enjoy being with most, no matter where you are.
Love that you have Valentino Rossi's 46 on the front of your hire scooter. That sets the tone of the hire shop's expectations.
You're making me think seriously about Bali.
Mind you, as an Australian, we flew well past to escape the Australians. 😂😂
Happy to see you enjoying the Fat of Life.
You sound like us Brits trying to avoid Britain Southern Spain!😆
It’s really stunning out here and interestingly I’d say French and Germans made up most of the tourists here
@@FreddieDobbs Curious
It has such an Aussie rep. School hols are over, and Winter hasn't started yet...
Phuket was also Scooter heaven, warm water and beautiful people.
I didn't even talk to a single Australian last time I was there. Just get out of Kuta, seminyak, canggu
Well once again it’s Sunday morning, and 20 degrees outside. I got my cup of tea sitting by the fire. And I’m watching Freddie and Monica on a beautiful beach, sipping coffee, eating beautiful looking food, staying in a beautiful apartment and basically having the time of there lives. Am I jealous…… you betcha 😜
Thank you Steve, here’s to a great week🙂☕️🔥
After this visit, you guys definitely should visit the Gili Islands (one of which island of Gili Trawangan) on the next province, which is West Nusa Tenggara, no motorized vehicle allowed, motorcycle included, bikes paradise here in Indonesia, which the only place I can think of for banning fossil fuel vehicle in this country.
Thanks for the tip- we’re trying to decide between Penida, Lombok and the Gilis🤔
@@FreddieDobbs I think the Nusa Penida and the Gili's doable in 1-3 nights of stay, but the Lombok island is almost as huge as Bali island, so much place to explore, so little time for me though.
First visited Lembongan in 2007 and have been back a couple of times since. Pleasantly surprised at the slow pace of development!
Also made it across to Nusa Penida which is much larger than both Lembongan and Cerningan but lacked development at that time due to the absence of a reliable source of freshwater. Not sure what the situation is now but I recall the crossing from Lembongan to Penida being super rough!
Fascinating voyages of discovery, and glad to see you're not just plodding around Bali.
If you can make time then the early morning hike up Gunung (Mount) Batur to watch the sunrise over Gunung Agung (the mountain you can see from Lembongan) is well worth it.
even i'm Indonesian i never knew this island existed! lovely stuff Freddi and Monica
I’m not surprised as I’ve just learnt how many islands you have in Indonesia!😳
What a beautiful place to visit. You certainly give people ideas on where to travel.
Looking forward to the next video.
I wouldn't have been able to imagine the life you have when I grew up, and it's great to see your lifestyle. This is a beautiful place, everone riding carefully on narrow roads and pathways. Superb hand held footage from Monika as usual , I especially liked the approach shots of the ?golden? beach through the swings. To see a biking society is really interesting though Freddie's perspective.
Hi nice one Freddie and Monika , a bargain place to visit , have fun and enjoy and catch you on the next one .❤👍👍
Thank you!🙂
Wow you guys are really spoiling us with some real fantastic inciteful offbeat tourism! Love this!
Paradise Indeed 😊 good name for a song. Loved the romantic entry music on the way to the island, then once settled REGGAE in Paradise.
Watch the Rip currents Freddie, be very careful when swimming 🏊♀️
It was a much stronger rip current than I thought- I wondered why very few people actually went in the water😳
@Freddie Dobbs yeah, and remember you can't swim back in you need to swim across and then back. My advice is stay out, find a lagoon.
I really love the traveling videos, thanks for taking me with you😊😊😊
Delighted you’re enjoying them, thank you🙂🙌🏻
Wow another jewel! Reminded me of the T.V. Series, ‘Death in paradise’……Monica’s filming equally as good and the reggae dub music. As motorcycling riding goes, a scooter on a sunny island is just the best.
Ah yes, I know Death in Paradise! The Reggae fits so perfectly on a little island like this🎶🏝️
Thanks for another amazing insight, really looks like heaven and the easy pace of life. Would be interested to know what the end product of the seaweed is, great is see it being used locally. Well done on the choice of venues Monika, perhaps you should consider yourself as a "Holiday" Planner. Enjoy yourselves!
Really glad you enjoyed it! I think they sell the seaweed simply as dried seaweed (I saw them weighing it up and agreeing prices on dried seaweed)
You guys should try Nusa Penida, it is right beside Lembongan & Ceningan, in fact it is a trio islands. Nusa Penida is the biggest from the three, yet the least population. Most of the location in Penida is still touristy but more raw, and also a heaven for scooter adventure.
We’re trying to decide between Penida and Lombok next- they both look incredible!
@@FreddieDobbs well Lombok is a whole different beast. I have a lot of good experience with some crazy local and sick foreigner there, especially the surf community. You should try Selong Belanak beach on the south, it's very stunning for me, but the mountainous area on the north like Sembalun area is also epic.
Lombok also have trio smaller island like the Penida/Lembongan/Ceningan of Bali, it is Gili Air, Gili Meno, and Gili Trawangan. But you're not allowed to ride any motorized vehicle in all of these small island trio.
But since you're still in Bali, I suggest you explore Penida first. For me personally Penida is the best island from all of the Nusa's trio.
Fabulous!! It's amazing how you find all the lovely little coffee shops down such narrow streets. Keep enjoying your fantastic lives.
It’s almost always Monika who picks the places. I usually end up picking more cockroach-y type places, so I cannot be trusted😆
Thanks Jonathan!
@@FreddieDobbs I know how you feel!! 🤣🤣
This really cheered up a cold wet day in the Yorkshire Dales. Looking forward to the next episode 😀
Freddie i think itll be a good content if you can have a meal with locals and see all the culture diff. Anyway really great content, im indonesian and i never knew these islands
That’s a very good idea, Eric!🙂
What a beautiful place, such amazing slow done to appreciate life...
High skill level of marketing sir👏🙏
GBP 15 for Valentino Rossi's bike - definitely a bargain
now this...would be the place to retire to....lol...and i thought there were narrow streets and roads in the UK..lol..maybe if you go back here again on holiday..you can get scuba certified so you can go dive around the reefs....excellent video!
The UK roads are nothing compared to Indonesia- roads are very often too small for two little hatchbacks to pass by😳 I have a friend who’s scuba’d here in Lembongan- he said it’s mind blowing!
Close as we got in the Navy in 1974 was Singapore...
We just returned from 14 nights in Bali - 5 of which were on Nusa Lembongan & this video perfectly captures the experience we had. Thanks guys 😊
Off the beaten path is the way to go. My in-laws in Spain did that to me , it was fun doing as they would do. Again you and Monika are adventurous.
Wow. Spent a week on Nusa Lembogan 25 years ago. Nothing but surfers and seaweed collectors in the lagoon, just a couple places to stay. Only one little path and a couple of cars. You had to take an outboard boat with outriggers to get there. My it has changed. Years ago the Japanese went around to islands around Indonesia and set up these seaweed “farms.” If you look closely you’ll see a rope grid through the whole basin where the weeds grow and are periodically stripped then dried and sold to the wholesalers. It seriously changed the flow through the lagoon and caused a lot of beach erosion but it looks like it is much less active than it was.
Fascinating you mention this! Four years ago when we were last here there no seaweed farmers inbetween the two island
and there were pristine white sandy beaches. Those beaches have now disappeared and been replaced with sludge- I think because of the effect the seaweed farms have had on the water flow.
@@FreddieDobbs Teluk Sanglambung is the old surfing bay on the west side of the big island and that was where all the nets were placed and the beach was all gone. Looks like those are gone now and the beach is back and they’ve moved the nets to the north coast and between the islands. Back then the north coast was completely undeveloped, just a path all the way to the end.
Looks stunning! But I know my limitations - just too hot for me! I’ll stick to touring the UK! 😅
I’ve just accepted a constant state of being unconfortable😆🥵
Simply stunning! keep living the dream guy's!
Damn that looks so fantastic. I'm back in India surrounded by garbage and cow s**t 🤣🤣 and all phone services are suspended for the weekend by the government. Thank goodness the hotel has Internet!!!!!!
You paint a rosy picture, Colin!😆
Are you sure it's cow shit?
Loved the music. I wanted to get out of bed and do the “cha cha cha” 🤣🤣🤣. Bali looks lovely by the way xxx
Wow looks amazing a real eye opener to somewhere different. Cheers Freddie and Monica
I grew up on the Tanzanian coast, where there were beautiful coral reefs. Red coral, like the large piece you picked up, was a rare site! The largest pieces we found on the beaches were thumbnail sizes, and very much cherished. Thanks so much Freddie, have fun you two.👍 Pete(UK)
WOW! What a place to grow up! I couldn’t believe the amount of washed up coral of all different shapes and sizes- I’ve never seen anything like it
Stunning place and such a well filmed video ❤
Thanks Robert🙂
Your enthusiasm is delightful, thanks for a great video, me and my family are heading to Bali in 5 weeks, from Melbourne.
Fair play you and Monica are living your best life very inspirational 😊
Lovely vlog and great honest reviews, I missed my holidays & diving in Lembongan. U have just got yourself another new subscriber mate, thank u Freddie
Check out Lombok. Wild terrain not to busy a real task of Indonesia. Lovin you're videos, Brings back memories of touring round the islands 20 years ago
I think Lombok will be next and I’m hoping it may be like Bali 20 years ago🙂
Glad u like N max. It’s true the seats are terrific. Having been the owner of an x max250 . They are Terrie machines. No chain to maintain. Great weather protection. 70 mph cruise. Looks like paradise. I went to Dubai in humid season and as soon as went outside from air conditioning was soaked through. Not a nice sight in a suit
I’m wondering if I should just go all out and get an a max next. This is the ultimate💪🏼
I genuinely would not be able to wear a suit in Dubai or Bali😳🥵
@@FreddieDobbs wonderful for a pillion
Freddie this scoots got the hallowed number of 46 it must be the fastest on the island 😁looks cool like the blue lights .So do they drive on the left like us Freddie ? not that the roads ever seem to have any markings nor are they more than one lane really .Now those islands look more of what I expected Bali to be like as far as being a sort of paradise .Very nice place and very good value too well done guys .👌👍
I think it probably was one of the fastest bikes on the island!😆 you’re spot on; riding in the left, no road markings, no road signs, no obvious rules of any kind!
Oh my. Thank you.
Looking at that painted scooter, reminded me of my grandfather. He would take anything new and paint it yellow or dip it in red paint. Then take a dremal and age it. I asked, why? He asked me, would you want to steal it now? I answered, No. He responded, exactly! It's still new under all the paint and grindings.
I’ve never heard anything like this, but I love it! Your grandfather sounds like a real character😆
@@FreddieDobbs he was an amazing grandfather. He was the first inventor I ever met. He was simple but a great man. He found a great woman, and the stories she would tell about him was always supportive of him. Last of the good ones. Wish we still had men and women like that as I try to emulate him each day.
Astonishing views!
Top video, love the fact you're getting out into the rural area's and not concentrating on the tourist places like Kuta.
We did a tour a few year's ago visited Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and then Bali. The latter was my favourite place, so chilled (well, except the traffic) around towns. Thanks for showing the islands we regretted not visiting these as they were our view each morning.
It was very nice getting away from the relentless Bali traffic! We’ll have the same problem as you I think; trying to decide on what places to visit, and what we won’t have time to see this time.
Morning Freddie and Monika 😊. Really enjoying your Bali adventures!
Delighted you’re enjoying it, thank you Lynn. Have a great day🙂
Fabulous place and the sense of freedom is palpable. Great choice of music and thanks for listing the titles. Going to download some and have it piped into my helmet on my ride out today in a damp peak district. 😊
This has to be 1 of the best videos you’ve done to date 👊😎👍
Really glad you enjoyed it!🙂🙌🏻
Love your videos guys. Keep them coming...
What a beautiful place and so nice to come across these gems, we found a little island off San Andres many years ago. Also great to see how others live in these places, to them it's just home. Great video
There’s something special about islands, whether Tenerife, Ceningan or the Isle of Wight. All with a very definite island vibe (that I can’t properly explain!)
@@FreddieDobbs I think has a lot to do with big business not wanting to settle there due to transportation costs, so the place doesn't get spoilt by so called investment, which has a knock on effect that politicians can't influence them either, making islands chilled and relatively self organised and so a happier place.
A total delight, thank you very much for showing us this.
Thanks Ian🙂
A stunning place. Good to visit for a couple of weeks. Certainly a stylish place. Only 30 minutes away from Bali. Useful to know. Punchy little engine, that 155, isn't it. Same one as in my Aerox.
Wonderful dynamic between both of you. Genuine content 👍
Not enough "motorcycle backpacks" have helmet carry features.
Scooter with a surfboard 🏄♂️ !!!
Really glad you enjoyed it, thanks Arnold! I think this is the first backpack I’ve seen with a helmet pouch🙂👌🏻
These vids are sooooo good! Thanks for sharing!
Looked fab, guys! The beach and sea views reminded me of a trip I made in '92 to Bermuda. To see my sister, she was working as an accountant there.
What a place to visit… and WHAT a place to be an accountant🏝️😃
@Freddie Dobbs haha! It was lost on accountants, Freddie, but for an insurance industry, person like myself, it was fully appreciated! Rum swizzle, anyone?
Wonderful video guys, would love to visit that part of the world one day,I to like to go off the beaten track & away from the hustle of tourist & see the real country & it’s people’s & culture you learn a lot more for sure!
New subscriber Freddie, you and Monica are doing a cracking great job with your videos. Very entertaining and I am glad you are both living your best lives doing what you love! Cheers 🥂
Gorgeous
What a beautiful place the coral was amazing loving your trip
Loving the videos as always Freddie. We eat seaweed in Wales. It’s a traditional dish called laverbread served with a cooked breakfast. You must try it when you come to South Wales
I’ve never heard of this, but I will specifically ask for this when I’m next in Wales🙂🏴
Thank you, Freddie, and Monica for a beautiful vlog. Love 💕 seeing your adventures in and around Bali.
Thank you so much!🙂
İ have just seen your channel. I really liked. I am fan of motorcycle and also I have been learning English one year. I am Watching motorcycle videos and improve my listening skills. I have to say thank you.
Good Morning Freddie and Monika from Malta. Enjoy your experience. Watching with a cup of tea, you start my Sunday with a good vibe.
Thank you Mark and great to hear from you over in Malta!🇲🇹☕️
Once again, another fantistic video and presented in such a super way. Both of you keep up the great work!!!
So glad you enjoyed it, thank you!🙂
Just stunning!
Freddie this is fantastic. I love it. I am now going to plan a trip to Indonesia now to escape winter next year! Keep on travelling...
I can’t recommend these little islands enough, Ric!🙂🏝️
You look like happy holiday makers from G. Ezra song "Shotgun" 😊 Paradise around... Maybe you are planning to see Comodo beasts😂
I had George Ezra playing in my head while riding around the island😃🎶
Monika has a big lizard phobia, so the thought of Komodo is enough to make her pass out with fear😆
beautifull,paradise,❤
That Rossi 46 sticker is good for a 10 mph increase in top speed! I checked on that XLMoto bag but they don’t ship to the US.
I thought so too!😆🏇
Ahhh I know- it’s such a shame XLMOTO don’t ship to North America!
More sunny corners of paradise to see with you two, brilliant.
Seaweed is so delicious in SE asian cuisine and extremely nutritious too. Loveit.
I share your love of seaweed! Weirdly though, not one meal actually had any seaweed in it😆🤷♂️
Morning Freddie and Monika! 🏴
Morning Mike, have a great day!
Love this video !we are expecting to see you guys doing a Bali local market tasting video ,it’s gonna be so fun 🎉
They do have some great markets here, so we’ll try and show some🙂 Really glad you enjoyed the video!
finally got the nmax ❤
I couldn’t believe it when he walked me over to it- very good bike!💪🏼 I may rent one as the long term bike for here in Bali👌🏻
solid bike, I own a 2018 125cc one as it's more common in Italy than his 155cc big brother, I've put 52.000km on mine and still runs like day 1
I've never heard someone describe the sea as room temperature before 😂
Looking back, this was a bit ridiculous!😆
Any scooter with the sticker 46 on it, for sure its been driven to extreme 😂 loving the Vids Freddie
This is true!😆🏇
Ohh Freddie & Monika the number 46 makes both of you scooter legends 😉😎 Enjoy your island holidays & beautiful experiences together 👌… with Valentino Rossi😂😂😎
How did I overlook this!?😳 Of course- Dottore🏍️🙌🏻🙌🏻
@@FreddieDobbs he’s cool, however both of you are very much way cooler 🤙
Mate your vlogin is streaks ahead of the competition. As far as high calibre quality content goes, built upon your productions unique style of presentation. Motorcycle travels & reviews, never looked so good.
In tandem with your informative yet very natural flare for having great dialog, audio & camera work too.
Seriously, that is nek level gear shifting dynamics, involving prep & planning with meticulous attention to detail, objectives, destinations and locations.
I might add... Consistently so too.
There any questions?
Did I cover that all adequately enough to commend your work?
I mean to say even in the marketing department, endorsements & editing... is it any surprise... the rise in viewership of your channel and subscriptions follow to your credit.
Few reality television shows manage to tick all those boxes.
Hosted better than anyone else I'd rate, nor could they near match the way the two of you interact & engage your audience in the moment.
Unscripted and natural flowing narratives. Keeping it organically true to be... Really Real reviews, real people...
Must be hands down amongst the best on UA-cam to date.
Love to hook you up over my way sometime for a ride to write home about.
Please feel free to look me up when you're back in Indonesia again, Freddy & Mon.
I live in Bandung, West Java, where traffic is mental as anything, but it's also of the ubiquitous kind of unique, as is the scenery besides to.see, on a motor...
You’ve made my day reading this, Zain, hugely appreciated!🙂🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
We have considered taking the ferry over to Java, so I’ll remember this.
Thank you for the support, Zain🙌🏻🤜🏼🤛🏼
Seeying al the tourists riding left right…
The goverment is going to forbid, renting and riding scooters to tourist..
I saw a surfboard on the scooter.. Nice video and Tour Freddy as always..👍🏽
I’ll be fascinated to see how things play out with this potential upcoming scooter ban.
Thank you🙂
Wow, what a place...hope you proposed to Monika when you were there. Ooops! I just couldn't help myself 👃Mr. Nosey Parker!
Monika read this before I did and she mentioned it over my morning coffee! Thanks for this😆
I love it, nuff said.
Those two fixing the potholes in the road, you couldn’t ask them if they want a job back in London?😂
Lovely video, but it’s time for you two heading back home ❤😂
We just need to get past the March weather and then I’m happy in England😆
Looks virtually car free Ideal scooter territory to get to the nook and crannies. Wonder what that crane in the bay was for? Looks a good place to chill for a short while and as always so cheap relatively speaking for that part of the world.
I think the only cars on the smaller of the two islands were a handful of carts to carry passengers to hotels. I was trying to figure out what the crane was- I couldn’t figure it out
@@FreddieDobbs looking it up apparently it’s a supply barge used for materials for rebuilding works which broke free from its tug and run aground on a notorious part of the reef which is called shipwreck as a large cargo ship also ran aground here in the exact same spot in the late 60s surfers love it apparently because of how it breaks the surf. Been there for a couple of years now!!
Stunning video again guys. Enjoy the Nmax and hope you both stay well. ☀️
Thanks very much!🙂
Freddie can you do an impression of Rick from the Young Ones please. I reckon you’d be bwilliant!
What a gorgeous little island paradise, why on earth didn't you both just put the camera down and have a refreshing dip at Dream Beach, would love to have a month's holiday touring those island's, completely stress free Bliss.
It’s a genuine laid back, sleepy paradise. We had two days of swimming a gorging (on my part😆) after this👌🏻
I have my bags packed! 😂
You won’t regret it!😃🏝️
Freddie, Great video. Sunday Times last week..Bali to ban all tourist rental motorcycles. Accident and injury rates very high with tourist poor riding skills as the problem. Have you heard about this in Bali ?
Lovely video. Cant say I've noticed a filling station yet, are there many or enough for island travel?
I think there’s one petrol station currently being built, but the only ones I saw were hand pump ones. There are so few people that there was never a queue at any of them
Where are you off to next and how long is your travel? If you come to Vietnam, let me know😄
Just a couple more Indonesian islands I think and then back to the UK at the end of April. I unfortunately we won’t make it to Vietnam this time! I must visit soon though!🙂🤜🏼🤛🏼
@@FreddieDobbs that’s a good amount of time to explore parts of indo, enjoy! If you make it to Vietnam I’d be happy to lend you my Triumph Street Twin for a day to explore around
Heard about Bali's proposed two-wheeler rental ban for international tourists a few days ago ..... Hope they don't go through with it.... Really enjoying your videos and would love to travel there myself in the near future🤞🏻
I really hope they have a change of heart, but I’m genuinely worried that they really may ban all tourists from renting bikes😳
Good Morning Freddie and Monika
Hello Julian!🙂
Please do a review of royal Enfield hunter 350. Waiting for your review of it🍻
Great video. But the backpack you are talking about I can't find it on there website unfortunately 😢
Fab vid..what a gorgeous place..are cards accepted everywhere or do you need cash? How does Monika find the accommodation?
Good question re cards; 95% of places accept cards here (maybe one in 10 places have wifi too poor to actually take payment). Booking.com, AirBnB and Agoda a Monika’s picks for finding places🙂👌🏻
Hey Freddie, what do you think of the moped/motorbike ban coming into Bali this year. Be very interested to get your views on this and other tourists
I’ll try and add this into a video- I cannot see any way it can possibly work. The roads are far, far too small for cars and there’s no car parking, no public transport and almost no pavements too😳
Honda Click 160 is more practical and reliable than the Yamaha N Max because you have a hook to hang your shopping and the floor to carry things on between your feet.
This is an extremely good point that I’d missed- the Nmax is not a step through😳
I got my snacks ready!! Let's gooo
Are you going over to Nusa Penida at all? We are booked there in late July/early August...
We’ve got Penida, Lombok and the Gilis or our shortlist- we hope to do them all🙂
Was considering Bali as a holiday destination but must admit you vlogg has put me right off the moped jams seem to spoil it and food poisoning issues
Head to islands like these, or get into the countryside. All the videos of traffic jams are in the suburbs of Denpasar
