Terry, not long ago, a big insurance company here in the US did a series of TV ads featuring a Sasquatch family! I always thought they were so creative to come up with such a thing. Perhaps, they weren't all that creative after all. Always enjoy your videos. Thanks. mate!
I probably need to see Open Your Eyes someday, since I once sat myself through Vanilla Sky. Thanks for a shout out to Richard Kadrey, a talent found here in my hometown of Pittsburgh. For me the title Pulse may always describe a mild 1988 thriller about an "evil electricity" that possesses a highly automated house. Thanks, Ter.
Rob Hood recommended Pulse to me as a film that even scared him. I highly recommend Cure which was Kurosawa Kiyoshi’s breakthrough on the festival circuit. I saw it at the Sydney Film Festival and it blew me away. I feel Pulse, Cure & Charisma (which is more obscure) form a kind of loose trilogy. Anyway, I think KK is one of the great current horror directors and it’s well worth seeking out his other films. In fact he did a remake of Seance on a Wet Afternoon - called Seance - that’s worth seeing. Remakes going the other way for once.
Has a commenter who sometimes gets carried away, and sometimes is misunderstood. . . I'm really sorry you had to deal with that ugliness, that probably was not anything like me getting carried away or me getting misunderstood.😢 Still I sympathize. I like your list, I like seeing the stuff. I remember really liking "Abra Los Ojos" , and being surprised, when I eventually was forced to watch Vanilla Sky, that unlike most American language adaptations, it actually had added value and tried to say some new things. It didn't necessarily make it better but I appreciate them trying as supposed to just translating and leading the wrong actors through somebody else's movie.
I much prefer the original version. The person I was mentioning went on a transphobic rant and accused me of hating and berating men. He was someone who wasn't getting the mental health care he needed.
@terrytalksmovies I figured. Still, I'm sorry you had to deal with it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not pushing Tom Cruise on you. I'm just saying that they surprisingly try to do something more. I think it's kind of interesting to watch Penelope Cruz recreating her role. That is if you find yourself forced to watch it. 🤣 I don't get to comment before then, happy holidays! Is Christmas there hot enough to make eggnog ice cream appropriate? A Christmas morning affogato?
Saw Pulse a long time ago and I have to admit I did not like it. Maybe I was not in the right headspace at the time. But I totally agree about those American remakes. Especially if the original was great. Americans need to learn how to read subtitles...
Sounds like my experience with the OG Suspiria. I couldn't handle it until five years ago when I retried. Our mental states are important to consider with some movies.

My pleasure, Philo. We're looking forward to seeing Sasquatch Sunset.

Pulse is REALLY good. The atmosphere escalates brilliantly and the world it creates us laid over the real world in a spooky AF way.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
I bought Pulse on DVD a long time ago. I'll have to give it a rewatch now.
It's underrated or else disregarded. Linking science fiction, horror and social problems is a great combination and this movie hits it.
And thanks for putting me on to Birdeater
My pleasure, Iain. It's a great first feature for those guys.

Rob is always a source of the good stuff. KK is a great director and I'm happy Umbrella is giving him some respect and oxygen, too.

A Christmas morning affogato?
Pulse sounds fascinating. Thanks Terry.
My pleasure, Steve. It's worth finding and watching.
I haven't watched Pulse for years. I remember finding it very creepy. I need to dig it out of the cupboard.
It's worth a rewatch. It evokes a world of loneliness incredibly well.
Have you ever considered a program about the cat “Luna”
You could title it
“Houseguest “?
Nah. Filming the beast is difficult. She rarely sits still long enough.
