How to cook Birthday Mee - A Penang family tradition

  • It is customary for Chinese families to serve noodles at birthday dinners as the long noodles symbolize longevity.
    Anne learnt how to make this particular noodle dish from her aunts who are Penang Hokkiens. This is the “Birthday Mee” which gives our family vivid memories of sitting at our Ah Ma’s dining table on special days, savouring this delicious noodles!
    We enjoyed this dish a fortnight ago when we celebrated our dad’s birthday. Perhaps you can cook it for your loved one too!

      Sorry for the late reply. Our mum doesn’t boil it. She washes the fish cake & shallow fry. Hope that helps.
