Lights out that fast, right next to a human, non-responsive to human touch and continuing to sleep through it. That’s not just tired. That’s exhaustion.
The fact that he took him to a different island, got it some food and avoided using his motor so it could sleep earns my respect lol what an awesome guy!!!
Except the raccoon was prob like "Bruh, I thought you were giving me a lift to my destination where the fam is waiting for me, now I don't know where tf I am..." And now he will just have to start his trek over except now he has to swim much farther to get to where he was going. Just leave nature alone we disturb it enough as it is.
@@matthewhall9692 idk i doubt he'd try to swim back, or get anywhere near the water again after that. raccoons are very smart animals so im sure he will be fine where he is now. the poor thing probably would have drowned trying to swim to that small island, so its a good thing this guy helped lil bro out.
I ain't mad at saving a trash panda, I used to work overnight security for a few years and they were always super friendly to me. Had one stand up on its hind legs one night making raccoon noises while moving his hands like he was an Italian speaking to me for about 30 seconds, still makes me smile to this day
That reminded me of an early morning drive to work in 1956. Came on 2 raccoons crossing the road. I stopped and when they got into my lane, the male stood up on his hind legs and hissed at me (waving his paws as you said) untill his mate got off onto the berm safely, then he too finished crossing and they went into the bushes. Id nearly forgotten. Thanks for that.
A person who takes their entire day just to help someone else or an animal when they weren’t obligated to, is the type of person the world could use more of. Thanks.
For some reason, this happens to me too much I have saved 3 pigeons and two birds 2 dogs and a couple of mice that I found in my home in the winter so I keep the mice till spring and released them
Raccoons are good swimmers. But, they're nocturnal. So, your little guy was certainly exhausted. With sharks around, you probably saved it's life. Thank you.
He or she* I've always found it strange how whenever there's a video of an animal, everyone in the comments always assumes it's male, despite it having a 50% chance of being female, lol
this man is so nice that even didn’t force the raccoon out of the kayak, got him food, was a happy kayak uber, and didn’t use his motor so the raccoon could sleep
What worry’s me is this raccoon seems way to tame, after he woke up he just watched the guy pet him, a wild raccoon would almost never do that, I bet this was someone’s “pet” raccoon that they realized was to much to deal with as a house pet so they released him
@@Litfilmz Not necessarily. He's exhausted and most raccoons that are young will take to people if they are kind to them. It's much easier to get a raccoon to trust you...than a feral cat for example (raccoon & cat person here). Love dogs & other animals too, both domestic & wild..but I've dealt with many wild raccoons & stray to feral kitties too
@litfilmz Ya that's not true at all. I spend a lot of time camping and fishing and can't tell you the number of raccoons that have played nice. Had one fall asleep right next to my head just on the other side of my tent wall. I've had others straight up walk up to me and sit next to me while making dinner at the campsite. They're very curious animals. If they get aggressive, that's when you have to be concerned about rabies. Just don't treat them like a pet, or act like they're done sorry of plushy and they usually won't react to you negatively.
@@mmancino1982 They are very nice. I see them every night. Some of the babies like to climb on my legs to say hello. The idea that it has rabies...those numbers are sooooo small but people constantly bring it up like it's a factor. (I don't mean you but the ones who don't understand raccoons). It simply is not a factor and most people in their lifetime will never ever come across a raccoon with rabies. And they have the mistaken belief that if a raccoon is out during the day, then it likely has rabies. That is absolutely ridiculous, lol. Many mother raccoons come out during the day... and other raccoons as well. But mothers, particularly do it because their babies are asleep and they have some alone time to go find some food. Mother raccoons are very good moms and work hard. Anyone who watches baby raccoons or baby bears know that they would be exhausting. 😂 Imagine keeping track of 4 playful tumbling, climbing, curious children all night long 🤣🤣 They are exhausted. So that's when they use the day to go forage in peace when the babies are sleeping. They are very sweet animals & not looking for a fight. And they are much more afraid of us... But when you do get them to trust you, they are a lot of fun and very easy going. They just want food & to say hello to their person
Poor little guy was probably exhausted. No telling how long it had been trying to swim to safety. Thanks for keeping it from being a shark's lunch! 👏👏👏
Their little legs are their downfall in the water and you can see they get tired so fast , they don't stand a chance. They do love to swim though when the water is safe. I've been lucky enough to see a Mom take her kits to swim once, but my Dog quickly ruined the majestic moment.
Poor exhausted little guy, you are such a good person for rescuing him. If he slept for hours around you, then he was out swimming to the point of no return. Who knows what drove him way out there.
Rearranged his entire day for an adorable little random raccoon in the ocean. Such a kind soul, all the decisions he made to accommodate his new furry friend. Letting him sleep on all his lures, not dropping him off at that tiny desolate island, standing around past sunset to let him just ease his way off into the wild on his own. All of it!! He deserves an “Our Favorite Human” medal!
It's weird isn't it, I mean the perspective wise, how you look at the story, changes everything. For the fish's perspective, it was the worst and the last day of its life. Everything was fine and suddenly nets appeared around it, nothing it can do... Sharks, well they are denied of a raccoon today. Weird that if you choose to save the raccoon you're a good guy, if you feed the sharks with the raccoon, you'll be called as a monster probably. If you feed a raccoon with a fish after saving, you're the best...
yea, so great... thank god it was so used to people already. almost as if it wasn't even wild and this wasn't a real rescue and he nearly drowned it to get yt clicks. Yes, idiots. Thats how these videos are made. you think baby racoons try to go swimming in the ocean (in SALTWATER, you absolute dummy)?!?!?

@@Shield954 Well true but it's definitely been an unspoken rule in our language. I don't think the person who does it means any harm but in practice I salute you
Poor little guy was probably close to drowning from exhaustion. To instantly fall asleep that way, who knows how long he was out there. Thank you for not just dropping him off on that tiny little remote island. He probably would have died there. Glad he was sleeping and you took him back to civilization with you. At least he has a chance of survival. Thank you for being a compassionate human being and saving his life. You are a true hero.
Oh, he would have definitely have died on that death trap island. I doubt there was ANY fresh water, which the little fella was in dire need of due to extreme dehydration, probably extreme sunburn, and extreme exhaustion. The little guy was severely lacking in nutrients and water, 100%... I was praying to the end of the video that the little raccoon would make it to the mainland or biggest of islands... Just look at how exhausted and sick that poor little guy was the whole time and how instantly he passed out hard too!!! That's hard to imagine being possible at all, especially as a tiny baby creature that is not familiarized with human beings with it's guards likely on high... Just that little bit of kindness from something, someone, it just goes to show how sick, helpless, but grateful he really was, to drop his guards down like that, instantaneously.. His life was definitely on the line, but God sent him rescue!!! He sent a boat and someone, a fisherman who even fished for him, kind enough to get him to a safe place and not to just any random death trap island... What a cool experience... I don't think I could have NOT taken him home to help him recover and let him stay if he wanted to stay... That's one cool story to tell about how you met your pet raccoon!!!
seems he didn't really want to. He did the right thing in the end but he isn't so amazing. Had that lil guy had enough strength to make it to the abandoned "island" the man would have happily left it there
The racoon seemed to be deaf? I wonder if he was. He didn't react to any noise at all, especially when he was swimming. He only acknowledged the kayak when he observed it out of his eye even though the kayaker was shouting
@@VMM34raccoons go into a torpor in the winter seasons. I wouldn’t be surprised if under great stress the don’t go into a mini torpor to preserve energy.
You'll remember this raccoon longer than you would've remembered any fish you might've caught had you just dumped him at that first tiny island. Hope you receive the same kindness you extended to this little fella. Well done.
I cannot imagine how frightened that critter was, lost on the water. Thank you for rescuing him. You can always fish another time, but it’s not often that you get the chance be a guardian angel to an animal in dire need.
He was so exhausted! Thank you so much for helping him. Can u imagine how exhausted he must have been to pass out so fast in an environment that he would have been terrified to be in awake let alone asleep. Love that you let him sleep, caught him some dinner and kept the motor off so he could sleep. You are an awesome man and we thank you for saving this cute little guy.
I am glad you picked him up because I don’t think that first mangrove patch holds fresh water or much food. There will always be time for another fishing day.
Im willing to bet he has not slept that good since being near his mom. Wild animals don’t get a break, constantly surviving, always looking over their shoulder. Bless you for helping the little friend
at this point Id take this little fecker with me. Respect and trust is something a wild animal will never forget once it has it. Could honestly cost its life down the road when he trusts the wrong human.
I thought exactly the same! He's (or she?) felt so safe in the little box surrounded only by water and somehow knowing that no preditors can get to him on the boat. He's decided to use the opportunity, who knows if he'll get another chance like this. 🙂 He'd been super lucky encountering such a good man! 🧡

I love how hes talking to the baby raccoon like its his teenage son. Loving and would do anything in the world for him yet slightly annoyed he's sleeping all day lmao.
He could have definitely been a lot nicer to the poor animal which was likely dehydrated, exhausted, burning up from a sunburn being in that hot sun and on the reflective water swimming to no end for God only knows how long. With sharks everywhere, who knows if he wasn't harassed by them?! To his defense, did stop, pick him up and let him ride in the shade of the toolbox without turning over the motor all the time he had the raccoon. He did catch him a snack... I believe he slept the whole time because he was sick from nearly drowning, exhaustion, dehydration, sunburn, and likely panicking to death nearly being out there and afraid in the water. My muscles will hurt so bad if I'm out in the ocean all day or just a few hours where there is a strong current. The poor raccoon probably had to fight some currents. Also, the sun will burn me up and make me so tired and give me chills when the sun sets after being in the sun, especially in the water, for a few small hours... If it's all day, it's much worse... Also, I would not have even thought about dropping him off on that first island and only the second island if he/she were panicking and going wild from fear and panic... So, only if it was an emergency and necessary. That raccoon would have starved and dehydrated in just hours on that dead, tiny island he was swimming towards. But the raccoon knew no better, it was just trying to reach land to rest... Without water or food, who knows if it could have ever gained it's strength to swim elsewhere fast enough and lucky enough to not be eaten by sharks. They were literally everywhere in those waters. Maybe it's just me and my wife's sensitivity for the survival of helpless creatures of God and wanting to have a hand in that personally when possible, but I really do believe we would have most definitely have adopted the little raccoon and would have taken him/her home to give him/her proper water and food, then likely kept the little guy or girl as a new addition to our small family, if it wanted to stay... Just the way it kept trying to sleep in that toolbox as long as absolutely possible, I don't believe we could have taken it out of there and it would have ended up in our car. What he did was a good thing. If only he had offered the poor thing some fresh water... And if he didn't keep attempting to get it out on the smaller islands during the day and just hung out with the little raccoon... Oh and if he didn't keep saying that it was time to leave, that he wanted to fish, that the ride ends here, and things like that it was time wake up and go to school, etcetera... He "rescued" the raccoon from very terrible, nearly tragic situation... If you are going to start something, then go through with it and get the raccoon to the safest possible place and try to just understand why it was so tired and passed out like that, because it was sick and in need of rest, water, and nutrients... I am happy that the raccoon did have enough energy to get out of the toolbox by itself and hopefully it found water and safety for the night, considering possible predators and the safe spaces available for the raccoon to rest up and gain some energy and wellness. Hopefully it got to a good spot and had time to recover from nearly dying... Sometimes God's creatures need us people to go the extra mile and help them survive... It's a kind thing to do, to respect nature and it's inhabitants as well... Look at all of the animals that have gone totally extinct and that have had to learn how adapt due to mankind and the pain we are capable of causing without even knowing it... It's a blessing to be able to be a hero, even to a baby raccoon stuck in the ocean... Think about the rescue God does for us all every single day... It's a blessing to be able to give back, if only to a little baby raccoon...

The way that he literally passed out, as soon as he knew he was safe, was very touching. I can’t imagine the fear, and exhaustion that he must have been experiencing out there. Bless your heart, Sir!
Little guy is gonna have some amazing stories to tell his buddies after this. "There I was, on me last breath in the open ocean, nare a soul in sight. As I was saying me goodbyes a giant appeared and rescued me on his magic carpet. I fell into the deepest slumber of me life and when I awoke I was back on land." You're gonna be a god to these guys.

He needed that nap and you definitely saved his life. He was probably only 12-16 weeks old. Needed a little help.
That must have been a terrifying experience for the raccoon. For him to pass out so quickly, he must have been using the last bit of strength he had to pull himself aboard. Poor little guy... I'm glad you were there to help him.

Raccoons are nocturnal. They sleep during the day. It’s no wonder he was tired. He’d probably been up all night and was exhausted. You’re a kind man, with how you treated him. Take care
actually there's pretty large populations of raccoons on a lot of mangrove islands, all over the Caribbean as far out as Barbados. There are multiple recognized subspecies of island raccoons.

@@KahurangiSteezit’s very likely that the baby raccoon simply got washed away or got separated from its mother, or swam into the water to try and find safety from a potential threat. if the raccoon had been out there intentionally it would not have been that tired and would have absolutely attacked the person in an attempt to protect itself. it’s crazy how you managed to lie to yourself

Good people are becoming a rarety in this world. My very best to you and yours. Stay happy and stay healthy. No one is here forever.
Me toooo! Especially when the little guy jumped aboard so quickly. The fact that the guy went to the first island and said this is not a good spot for the raccoon and just let him keep going is amazing. What's even more amazing is that this guy normally kills fish right because he's fishing and this tiny animal had other plans so instead of fishing it was a paddle boat watching the sunset and the rescue. True Kismet instead of yanking a fish out of its home, he rescues and animal and returns it to home
Raccoons can be pretty vicious if you don’t respect their boundaries, but they’re really intelligent, and they can recognize when a human just wants to help if they need it.

@@AlanaeImontae ‘nice’ people are pretty common. Most people definitely have a significant capacity to do good given the right circumstance, but there’s ‘doing something good that helps your conscience more than it actually solves anything’, and then there’s doing something good that actually helps in a tangible way. This video is the latter, but a lot of the ways that the average person tries to help the poor or homeless or be more environmentally-friendly are the former. Animal rescue and rehabilitation is fantastic and it’s a field I’m considering working in eventually if I can get the training for it, but a lot of people out there have a certain degree of trouble empathizing with animals or understanding the basic behavior patterns of most of them. It’s easy to empathize with the cute fuzzy ones, but most people shy away a bit as soon as it’s anything not-that that’s actively in front of them.

Sharks don't eat much mammals anyway (still can happen of course) they are used to sea things and it's kinda rare for them to go out of their way to eat something strange and maybe dangerous like a land dweller the drowning after exhaustion is more likely (not sure if it's better)
@@ryomaanime4563 You do know you are completely wrong, right? There's all kinds of mammals in the ocean. Seals, sea lions, whales, dolphins, and plenty I can't think of! They eat land dwelling mammals all the time.
@@NoMoreBsPlease Sharks don't eat cetaceans (whales, dolphin). They don't even try to attack, except the super rare lone baby whale, and will flee swiftly against dolphins Seal/Sea lion is more complicated (and probably the most common encounter). Basically the big one eat the small one. A sea lion can jump in a swarm of medium sized shark and feast, but will of course be eaten by a great white Walrus as a kind of giant seal living in super cold water don't fear sharks except great white maybe? I don't know if otters can be considered marine mammals, more like semi aquatic. I guess that it's the same relation than sea lion's. Sea otter are kinda big and most sharks aren't And of course there's the killer whale. I would never bet on a shark, no matter the shark (i've heard that killer whale love shark liver). And that's all for marine mammals. but we were talking about land critters attacked by sharks while swimming edit : i guess they may eat the Sirenias (small group of herbivore cetacean called sea cow)

@Litfilmz Doubtful. Raccoons are very bold and typically docile. They tend to only get aggressive if they feel threatened.
@@Litfilmz
Not necessarily. He's exhausted and most raccoons that are young will take to people if they are kind to them.
It's much easier to get a raccoon to trust you...than a feral cat for example
(raccoon & cat person here).
@@mmancino1982
They are very nice.
😂 Imagine keeping track of 4 playful tumbling, climbing, curious children all night long 🤣🤣
They are exhausted. So that's when they use the day to go forage in peace when the babies are sleeping.
They are very sweet animals & not looking for a fight. And they are much more afraid of us... But when you do get them to trust you, they are a lot of fun and very easy going. They just want food & to say hello to their person

Outstanding my brother! That’s what we real men do, defend and protect the weak, where ever you find them.
I know this wasn’t exactly how you planned your day and must’ve been frustrating when he didn’t want to leave, but your kindness, compassion, and patience toward this scared, exhausted little guy is really touching. Thank you for being a great human.

Raccoons are nocturnal. That little guy was up all night & swimming until you rescued him. What a nice man you are ❤️
Exactly my thought, he was trying to catch fish, got swept out away from land, and had been treading water that entire day until then.
@@le_th_ interesting how animals just takes things as they are. If tired and human no danger, then sleep. 🦝
@@Altinget wild animals don't have the safety like us humans do. we don't have to focus on survival, we have more time, freedom to survive and do other things. they're always in survival instinct mode. eat, sleep, reproduce, repeat.
You saved that little guys life. He obviously had been out there swimming lost a long time. And the sharks hadn’t gotten him. Ty so much for rescuing him and keeping him safe until he had some energy. You’re awesome
Sharks don't eat much mammals anyway (still can happen of course)
they are used to sea things and it's kinda rare for them to go out of their way to eat something strange and maybe dangerous like a land dweller
the drowning after exhaustion is more likely (not sure if it's better)
Little *gal’s life.
@@ryomaanime4563 You do know you are completely wrong, right? There's all kinds of mammals in the ocean. Seals, sea lions, whales, dolphins, and plenty I can't think of! They eat land dwelling mammals all the time.
@@NoMoreBsPleaseI think u need to reread what he said there bud. SHARKS is a key work
@@NoMoreBsPlease Sharks don't eat cetaceans (whales, dolphin).
They don't even try to attack, except the super rare lone baby whale, and will flee swiftly against dolphins
Seal/Sea lion is more complicated (and probably the most common encounter). Basically the big one eat the small one. A sea lion can jump in a swarm of medium sized shark and feast, but will of course be eaten by a great white
Walrus as a kind of giant seal living in super cold water don't fear sharks except great white maybe?
I don't know if otters can be considered marine mammals, more like semi aquatic. I guess that it's the same relation than sea lion's. Sea otter are kinda big and most sharks aren't
And of course there's the killer whale. I would never bet on a shark, no matter the shark (i've heard that killer whale love shark liver).
And that's all for marine mammals.
but we were talking about land critters attacked by sharks while swimming
edit : i guess they may eat the Sirenias (small group of herbivore cetacean called sea cow)
He immediately made a break for you, the second he saw you! THAT and the fact that he climbed aboard and passed out shows how exhausted he was! Thanks for being patient with him. He seemed really reluctant to leave, shows how comfortable he felt with him. Poor little guy. Hope he’s okay.
He was reluctant to leave, most likely, because he's been domesticated. Mean this video was faked, and sick.
@@1masterTEMPLAR
Or the thing could have just been fucking exhausted and in need of rest? Jesus christ you people are the worst.
It wasn’t fake the raccoon was extremely exhausted he travels Island to Island for food and their instincts knew that this man wasn’t malicious and he bout gave up his fishing to let him sleep and feed him a hungry animal isn’t going to turn down a meal if he was domesticated he wouldn’t had snapped at him he would had instantly crawled in, pay attention to details 😀

Bless his little heart ❤️ Who knows how long he was in the water, but luckily you came along in the nick of time. He was exhausted, and fell asleep quickly and deeply. I hope he’s still doing well being a little trash panda. Raccoons are too adorable. You have a kind heart.

ALso human: "Must. Pet. Too. CUTE!"
Thats why tigers are beautiful and soft. 😂
That baby trusts you so much it’s crazy. I know he’s exhausted but the level of trust in this little creature is heartwarming.
I don’t think it was trust. The animal was very likely on the verge of death that continued after it was in the boat. It COULDN’T move. I would only give this poor creature a 50/50 chance now. This is serious physical trauma that will take days to recover from if it can at all.
@@Bronte866 Well, yeah, duh, but the fact that it was so sweet and trusting and naive is more what I mean. He’s a little baby.
@@thetwistedsamurai yeah I mean raccoons in general can be pretty vicious, but they also pretty smart and only really care about food. If you feed a wild raccoon it will realize it has a stable food source and will become docile very quickly.

Hi! This is not 100%. Hydrophobia is not fearing water. Its a neurological response, making your throat muscles spasm when your drink water or swallow anything It doesn't make you scared of water
Edit: it was only called hydrophobia bc people didnt know why victims wouldnt swallow water.
Since raccoons are nocturnal, it's a miracle that you appeared on the little guy's horizon when you did. Leaving it on that first island would have been a death sentence. Paddling all day to save it was above and beyond the call of "duty!" I'm sure the little one thanks you. I know I do. 🙏😇❤️
@2000jago Not all day, but he did paddle back home rather than use the motor so as not to wake the raccoon.
Raccoons are diurnal, it's not unusual for healthy raccoons to be active when the sun is out.

I'm wondering why the raccoon was IN the sea?? 12:08 Great respect & love to the man angel.❤😊😊
He might have been chased into the water by a predator (or dropped by a hawk or eagle). They're normally very good swimmers so aren't shy about the water, but this guy clearly got way too far out. He probably came from where he ultimately dropped him off.
They go out during low tide and scavenge.
