The dreaded "Rabbids" came up in the Wii era and stole Rayman's shine... Ubisoft really tried everything they could to keep Rayman relevant but he could never quite made the comback he was suppose to have.

Ubisoft is the real villain in the story for excluding Rayman, not the rabbids: Wario, Donkey Kong, Luigi, Peach and Yoshi got their own serie but it didn't hurt Mario at all.
Plus, Rayman forgave and befriended them in Mario + Rabbids 2.
