I followed this guide exactly but when I got back to the Windows Setup page and selected my USB in the browser, it did not recognize anything. To solve this, what I did was add the entire RTS folder to a new clean USB. then connect both USBs to the new laptop. Then in the Windows Setup page browser I selected the VMD folder and that worked for me.
Thanks for sharing this to help other viewers out, really appreciate it!
I had the same problem and this fix worked for me. Thank you!
Glad the video helped you out!@@pox1151
You are a legend broo!!!!! Thanks so fking much
Thank you I was about to pull my hair out and curl up into a fetal position
damn, it worked.
PLEASE NOTE: Put the entire RTS folder in the USB, and when searching the drivers, go inside the folders (when installing) until you reach VMD folder and simply select it. It will then show you waht the video show at min 04:16 . Select VMD Controller and then Next. It will load many times (the green bar on bottom) and then you'll see partitions.
Thanks for sharing!
Always a random comment saving the day, thank you !

Hi, I did this and it worked and I got the clean wipes and install but then on the windows 11 set up process it's not showing my router and only giving the lan option. Does this mean my WiFi driver is gone and I need to bring my pc downstairs just to connect ethernet to set up and download WiFi driver ? Thanks btw
The fix didn't work I have a asus vivobook br1504za-bq361, and starting without boot usb i find the info regarding the SSD: WD PC SN560 SSD PNQE-1T00-1102 and X1504ZA. The ASUS support video solved it ua-cam.com/video/HuCY0ChsqAM/v-deo.html

Yoooo man, I'm so glad I could help solve your problem! Always a pleasure and thanks for your comment! 😃
Thank you so much homie! Struggled for several days and couldn't find any solutions. I had to put the whole VMD folder on the USB and that worked!
Great! I'm glad I could help you out 😎
This video and this comment saved me! F*** yes!
Awesome! I'm glad the guide helped you out! 😀@@martindragland8585
This.
THIS ! do this guys. Copy the whole folder with every file that was extracted. Thanks a million ❤
THANK YOU!! 6 hours into troubleshooting and your video worked perfectly! I followed the others and copied the RTS folder. Just wished I found it sooner. Thanks again!
You're a lifesaver man. Good work
Glad to hear it! Thanks.
Hey thank you so much, I tried a lot of things to get this fixed. Nothing worked.
Tried through the IRST driver and it worked. Happy to share the feedback as it worked for me.
Glad I could help and that you found the video useful!
you are amazing ! can't believe have to go through all that though just to install a driver while trying to install windows in this day and age..
Yeah it's crazy hey!
It would help to note to copy and paste the whole VMD folder from RST into the flash drive instead of just the IAstorvd.sys. But thanks man your a real life saver. There were other videos like this about getting the SATA software driver update from Intel but they were old and outdated in how you had to extract and download them.
Yeah if I knew about it during the making of the video I would've copied the whole folder, but my awesome community has left a lot of comments saying to copy the whole folder, hopefully people come down here to read the comments!
Legend
Thank you so much, that was incredibly helpful ! =]
You're very welcome!
Didn't worked until I copied full RST folder with all files, and my system wanted to INF file, not SYS. Maybe that information will be useful for someone. Anyway, thanks for your guide!
Pleasure, thanks for sharing how you managed to fix your issue!
thank you , it did save my life also :D
Awesome, glad to hear that!@@mitil2044
I did not copy the whole RST File but I did copy the VMD file over and then it found the driver also titled with the inf. Thanks for doing that!
you a life saver bro
It was the best educational method that I have seen for this problem. Thank you for taking the time to make this tutorial
You're very welcome!
Thanks so much it was just what I needed. When I tried to use the first version with the Microsoft download, I put it in a folder named Drivers and copied it to the Windows 11 usb boot drive and it couldn't find the drivers though I could see the Drivers folder. Then I took the drivers out of the folder and put them right in the main Windows 11 directory. Still didn't work but I could see the driver files. So then I went to Asus, my motherboard, to download what I thought would be the necessary drivers and copied them into the main Win 11 directory and finally I got the files you had on the screen. Yay! Thanks for knowing we might need a plan B.
Thanks for your detailed explanation! Glad you got it sorted out.
A life saver❤ thank you so so much bro, much love from South Africa
Thank you! Appreciate it!
It worked like magic! Thanks brotha! ❤️
Thanks, man! It helped me with an issue on a laptop that I'm working on.
Great to hear!
Thanks buddy! Your tutorials have helped me a lot. I also watched your tutorial on how to create a Windows 11 installation USB using Rufus, then I had this error here haha. One thing I can confirm at least for me is that it DOES work on Acer PC's, so anyone seeing this should not be automatically discouraged based on what another commenter here stated. I know for a FACT that my Acer has a proprietary motherboard, and I had no issues. I did read the comments beforehand and copied the entire VMD folder onto the USB haha, so there's that. So we can delete the TEMP and RST folders after we're done, right? This is just a one time thing, correct?
Thanks so much for your comment! I'm so glad you got it working on your Acer pc. Yeah, when you're done you can delete those folders.
@@memstechtips Thanks brother! I appreciate it! And you're welcome 😃. I subbed! Well I subbed yesterday when I wrote the comment, but you get my drift haha
A year later and this perfectly solved my problem. Thank you so much!

Thank you for showing in easy Way - Worked
Thanks, IRST driver method worked.
Omg you helped me so much, i dont know if it will actually work, but at least it finally showed my drives. For anyone else, i copied the whole rst folder onto the usb and then went through the folders in the installation and then chose the first driver.
Thank you for the helpful solution!
My pleasure!
Finally a tutorial that worked. Many thx
This video was extremely helpful !
Glad it helped!
Lots of heart to you mate...
Just saved my day...

worked! you have to disable the VMD in BIOS if possible in order for it to work.
Yes, I did it the same for ASUS laptop vivobook 15 ..... Just disable VMD in BIOS and the HHD became visible for WIndows installation. Now I see this comment and can confirm that this work in some cases.
Absolutely one of the best instruction videos, perfect from beginning to the end, step-by-step instructions.
thanks man,
You're welcome & I'm so glad you liked it. Thanks for your kind comment, I really appreciate it!

You're welcome! Thanks so much for your comment, it helps a lot to know that I'm explaining things properly and thoroughly. Appreciate it! 😃
@@memstechtipscan you please help me. I accidentally deleted my drive with windows and is now facing this problem, do you think this method will work for me?
Did not work for my case, but found out that a BIOS setting was on allowing RAID. Flipped that to AHCI/NVMe, and without the drivers was able to see the drives. This is for a Dell laptop, and I have seen this problem on many Dell computers that may have RAID enabled by default. Hope this saves someone hours of struggling :)
I'm sure this comment will help someone! Yeah I've noticed that on DELL laptops and also on the new Lenovo's, VMD is enabled by default, also causing the drives not to be seen by the drivers. I just disable it.
Your comment helped me!

The tutorial did not resolve my case and finally I guessed I need to change my bios storage (of a Ubuntu DEll Vostro 3420 laptop) from RAID On to AHCI/NVME.
I'm far from understanding why/what I did but it worked out.
Thanks a lot for your tutorial

thanks this worked for me... so many hoops for windows
Thank you sooooo😄😄😄😄 much worked for me
You're welcome! Glad I could help.
Adding the whole RST folder to the usb worked for me.
Thanks for the feedback.
Hi friend, the video is indeed useful but copying sys file alone won't work at all, you also need to copy 'inf' file along with sys files to let 'load driver' screen recognize the storage controller and the drive. Thanks anyway!
Thanks! Yeah, a lot of people have commented that exact same thing! Thanks though!
thank you. big help
Glad it helped
What drivers would work for a xeon 2135?
I’ve tried everything as in your written guide. When I execute the extraction code my intel Rapid Storage stops working and nothing happens. Please advise.
Sorry, but I can't help any more than I already do in the video...
Unfortunately this will not work for proprietary hardware like office computers like Dell or Acer.
For these you will need the custom os install disk or iso as trying to do it this way doesn't work due to the proprietary system design, I learnt this the hard way with HP, DELL and Acer office computers as I tried this with all 3 and it never worked.
As a result I advise everyone to steer clear of proprietary desktop builds and for laptops to create a recovery disk or usb drive device when you first use it after purchase and keep that labelled device in a safe place.
Yeah, you're right about that, but I assume that is only for desktops, or is it the same for laptops?
@@memstechtips same for laptops, actually even more so unfortunately!
Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it. 😀@@paulfrayne6519

Brother I have intel i5-6th generation hp Laptop and what you recommend doesn't work for me Plz help me Because without drivers It's bot skipping to next It's required for the windows to install because i am installing windows 11 ltsc version.
Its actually saying "Install driver for Displaying hardware so that your device will be discoverable"
Plz tell me what's the solution Thankyu
Thank you sir, that saved me❤
Had to move the whole vmd folder tho
Thanks for letting me know!
This worked. Thank you.
can u put the drivers into the same bootable rufus usb drive? or it has to be a different drive
I followed these instructions, i even put all the drivers from VMD into the usb and couldnt get windows to acknowledge that i have any drivers in the usb.
Can you recommend any next steps?
What computer are you using? If it's a fairly new one, go into your bios settings and disable any settings you see labeled "VMD" - It should work then without even having to install additional drivers.
I'm going to try this soon since my laptop doesn't want to detect my old SSD that I put in. I hope it works!
EDIT: Worked like a charm! Thank you for that PowerShell explanation, I would have never understood where and how to extract the drivers since I can't access my laptop.
Great! Have you tried it yet? Excited to hear if it worked or not?
@@memstechtips Yes, it did! Thank you so much!

Sorry my friend, but other than this video I can't provide any other support.
So why cant we just share the file?
this is what a wizard looks like people. thank you sir your magics have saved my time and youth
For laptops you can just try turning off vmd control in bios it worked for me
Thank you.
OMG thank you so fkn much for this! ❤
No problem, so glad the video could help you out! 😀
thank you!
Welcome!
it is the best video i filnd just a tip
in my device it dednt read just the sys file i had to copy all of files in vdm folder on a difrent flash drive
If the first solution didnt work try the second will when you look up your drivers for the motherboard make sure you look for vmd drivers then you put thst whole folder into the usb and it will show up and work
Thanks for this 👍🏻
I only ran into this issue when I downloaded the ISO file and used another iso to usb software, instead of allowing media creation tool to burn the iso.
Sweet! Thanks alot!
My pleasure! 😁
I love you, man, you saved me, thank you

I have a solution for Those who have this problem. I also solve it with an unique solution. Just booth two usb-pendrive and connect them together. Then boot from one, if didn’t solve the problem then restart and boot from another. Hopefully It will solve this problem.

Okay, so are you saying there is something wrong with the Windows installation media?
yes, kinnda
Actually command should be as follows
PS C:\TEMP > .\SetupRST.exe -extractdrivers /f C:\RST\
Usage /s /e /f
-s Un-package the package in silent mode (not showing the user interaction UI)
-f Runtime switch that overrides the default target path specified in the build time.
- e Prevent execution of the default executable file specified in the build time.
used this and it didnt work

Does it work for AMD builds?
my pc says an operating system was not found once i inserted my drive. any help ?
Did you install Windows to that drive yet? If yes, try and look at your BIOS settings and change settings related to Legacy or UEFI boot and SATA controllers.
TLDR: Wasn't driver problem for me, ASUS Tuf Gaming laptop had RAID enabled in the BIOS so I turned it off and the drives came straight up.
Disable the Intel Volume Management Device (VMD) technology which is in the advanced settings of the BIOS on Asus laptops and the drives should appear.
You're absolutely right, this doesn't just affect ASUS laptops, it's basically any new laptop that has VMD enabled in the BIOS. Thanks for your comment!
