Guinness Extra Stout 🇮🇪 ☘️ - Review

- Our 2022 St Patrick's Day celebration kicks off with Guinness Extra Stout. Sharp and crisp to the taste, it's an entirely different experience from the smooth, creamy Guinness Draught and punchier Foreign Extra Stout, but the trademark Guinness flavors remain.

I'm Irish living now in Toronto! As a teenager I was practically bullied into drinking Guinness...until I worked in Germany and then my lifetime worship of Weissbier took hold.
That bracket will never close!!
beer bullying!
Nooooo the brackets must be closed!
What's your go-to Weissbier?
My go to in Toronto is Hacker Pschorr...it stands alone...though starting to hit the Schneider Weisse Aventinus recently as its ABV of 8.2% kicks ass!!!
@@niallmcdonagh1093 Hacker Pschorr's lager is one of my favorites. I tried the Aventinus for the first time on camera in one of our BBOTM episodes and was blown away, it's incredible. For something along the same lines, try the Holsten Maibok if you haven't already. You can find it in most LCBO's.
A world classic stout!
Have yet to try this. Looking forward to it very soon. Cheers!
It's not the easiest Guinness product to find, but if you can it's worth it! As long as you like very espresso-like dry stouts.
The foreign extra stout is amazing. Haven't seen the extra or the original before.
It's a very elusive, wild beer.
take a sip every time he says extra stout
Didn't know about those flavor packs, that's interesting. Just assumed all Guinness was imported from Ireland.
I have a bit of travel coming up the next few months and will have to keep an eye out for the foreign, because I haven’t found it anywhere in NM. Just drank some Extra Stouts for the first time in years and they are 👌🏻
I'm a whiskey guy but I said fuck it I'll try a Irish beer for st patty's along with some great irish whiskeys.
All I can say is I'm glad I chose this one
Great choice Jeff! Happy to hear you enjoyed it. Guinness makes some incredible beers. I would highly recommend trying the Foreign Extra Stout too if you can find it. Cheers and thank you for watching! 🍻
@@BeerBrackets and the Guinness West Indies is also superb.
I had this recent and I absolutely love it. Any other similar beers you’d recommend?
The foreign extra stout is fantastic but different. For beers similar to the extra, if you’re in North America you can probably find the St Ambroise oatmeal stout out of montreal Quebec which is worth trying. Founders breakfast stout is another.
Founders Breakfast Stout is a world class stout and smokes any Guinness, possible exception being Guinness off the tap in a good Irish pub, which I will experience for the first time in a couple of months.
@@ricks4361 There's nothing like a well poured, fresh pint of Guinness in a pub in Ireland. So jealous you'll be going in a few months!
I think this will be my next purchase. You sold it when you said it's missing something. That's exactly the beer I'm looking for. I only like my coffee black.
Let us know what you think once you try it! Enjoy 🍻
@@BeerBrackets I am really late. I finally tried it, and I love it! To me, it's not missing anything at all. Guinness Draught is TOO smooth for me. Just my opinion!
@@brianabbott6585 So happy you got to try it! Totally understand the draught being too smooth for someone's taste. A more classic dry stout like this one has so much more character if that's what you're looking for.
We have a 5% Extra Stout here in Montreal that is imported from Dublin by Diageo Distribution Qc. Also, I really like your channel😃...sláinte
That’s awesome! I just got that imported version here in Ontario too finally. Thanks for watching and Slainte!
They don’t even realize it isn’t nitro
Australian brewed has abominabley bitter aftertaste. Bliss whilst drinking though 🍫🍺
So does the Canadian brewed on! The Irish version is by far the best I’ve tried
This beer is mmm…good
SO good
I love Guinness Draught but the reason it’s so smooth is a 4.0. Doesn’t hit you like the Extra Stout at 5.0. Do you guys review them at room temperature?
They're not at room temperature by the time we get to filming the review, but they're definitely not freezing cold either. They've usually been out of storage for 30-60 minutes by the time they're opened.
I like to think of Guinness Extra Stout as like black coffee. Maybe try eating something sweet and that sweetnesses can fill the gap so to say. All though I still enjoy it by itself.
Great suggestion! It definitely pairs well with something sweet, that’s for sure.
Is it good for beginner?
Definitely! It's a very easy drinking stout, so if you're looking to dip your toes in the style it's a great starting point.
@@BeerBrackets is it light? Iam more into budweiser (canned one only) and would love smthng of that profile or maybe similar
Its 6% here in Australia 🇦🇺 😅
Whoa! That’s a hell of an extra stout
Usually you have to pay for that type of head
from tx the best what character
