Hands down favorite stout of mine is bourbon barrel aged dragons milk. People always say “drink this, it’ll put hair on ya chest” but can’t even down a swig of THAT stuff! Not just my favorite stout but also my main go to drink when I’m buying brews. Great video, very educational and well put together
Dragon's Milk is one of my favorite stouts, but I must recommend Snake Eyes stout from West Sixth Brewing. It was described to me as "pouring like motor oil." Lol. I think it's wonderful.
I don’t consider myself a beer connoisseur, and I know nothing about the nuance of these different drinks, but stouts are my favorite. I drink them all the time. They’re so tasty, especially these chocolate and peanut butter variants.
Guinness draught or extra stout is a favorite stout, however if I had to choose between them I would pick the draught. It's the smoothest of the two. I like to say that" Guinness is like mother's milk to me"
Coffee stout is my favorite, always love a peanut butter or interesting flavor as well but nothing really beats a room temperature pint from the tap in Galway
My favorite style of stouts are the Russian Imperial Stout and Barrel-Aged Stouts. My personal best are the Stubborn Russian, Founder's Kentucky Breakfast Stout, Lakeman's Hairy Bogan, Boatrocker's Ramjet, and Brewdog's Cocoa Psycho.
There is a bad ass brewery here in TX called Ingenious Brewing. If you guy ever come across an Ingenious beer stout. Do give them a try! Definitely their stouts are unique and delicious! Great video!!
I’ve come back home to Guinness Extra Stout this winter. I remember thinking it was bitter back when I was younger and much preferring the new at the time draught cans. Now I know the better ale was there all the time haha
Guinness (West Indies) Porter in my 500ml Craft/ stout glass, Not over chilled though 👌. And love a Guinness Draft or Murphys draft. If at home from a can both chilled in my Guinness M07 or M14 glass. There my go to choices. But trying different often. Cheers Grant 😁
Being from Texas I can say that Guinness runs through my veins. I counted it up the other night and I literally have more Guinness running through me than I do blood. I love the liquid gold and I am proud of my Chezk/ irish lineage and all of the Irish there making this beautiful product. Slainte/prosit Keep it coming brothers and sisters
My first Stout was in 1998, and it was a Guinness , and I had it made into a Black and Tan, So that probably doesn't count, then the next one was 2 years ago, and I thought my mouth had been violated, I cant even remember which one it was, but later found out it was a good quality Stout, my Taste buds just weren't ready for it , I Love em now, Sorry, I know that wasnt really what you were wanting comments about, Very interesting Video of the Stout History, you had my undivided attention , Cheers Ryan, I destroyed the Like Button
A stout a day keeps the doctor away. Stouts are what made me love beer. I have a guinness every day at dinner and two on weekends. It always saddens me when im empty though
This is a great video! I love finding videos that have histories over everyday items that I love. Thank you for doing this. My favorite stout is West 6th Snake Eyes. Cheers, -J.O.
As someone who actually didn’t like beer, or as I call it American piss water. I was in England for a couple weeks in 92 and decided to try their beers with out much hope I would enjoy it. Was I wrong, the first time I tried Guinness seeing this in the glass all brown and looking almost alive until it settled down and turned black i was wondering what the hell did I order. One sip and I was hooked. To this day when I go to a bar I ask if they either Guinness or New Castle, if the answer is no I order a coke.
Guinness is actually piss beer lol. For a real stout, try Sierra Nevada Narwhal,Oskar Blues Ten Fidy,North Coast Brewing Old Rasputin....all run circles around Guinness (and American made on top of that).
@@unknowntosociety01 Founders Breakfast is good, but not on the same level as the 3 I mentioned, still worlds better than Guinness though. Their Porter is phenomenal, and I've heard their Imperial Stout was outstanding, though I think they discontinued it Haven't had Wreck Alley, but I will keep my eyes peeled for it 🍻

Another great vid. Comrade Bill Bartram's Egalitarian Anti-Imperialist Soviet Stout is one of my personal favourites. At 6.9% not a session beer. Cheers.
My Grandmother was a tea-totaller. Then one day her Doctor recommended a diet including stout. To my amazement, I watched her down a pint in record time.
Mmmmmm, stout stout stout! Personal favorite: Guinness on the extra cold tap! Only the extra cold. I miss the extra cold... Still waiting to try that LiftBridge Irish Coffee Stout, though...
Good video, it was my understanding that stout was originally made accidentally when the barley was forgotten and burned while being roasted. Hi Ryan, thanks for this awesome video! Would you be able to share some of your sources for this information with me? I am working on a university project about brewing stout and I'm looking for some historical information. As well, if you've come across any historical recipes please let me know! Part of the project involves brewing from a historical recipe. :)
Titanic - Plum Porter, Shepherds Neame - Double Stout (oldest brewer in Britain founded 1698 but brewery already existed before this but records don't say when this was founded)
1) Swan Brewing, Lakeland FL - Champurrado (Mexican Hot Chocolate) chocolate & chili Imperial Stout. 2) Grand Avenue Brewing, Phoenix AZ -- Grand Avenue Stout (imperial) Normally I'd just give the Grand Avenue Brewery stout first place. I generally dislike chocolate, chile additions or flavorants of any kind, but 'damn' Swan absolutely killed it. Perhaps the best beer I've ever had. Swan usually has its winner, but Grand Avenue Stout isn't always on tap. I'm very disappointed when it's not, but both have wonderful selections. And as far as types go, i like all types. But my preference is stouts. Oddly I'm not that fond of Porters as many tend to be too sweet, but I won't turn up my nose at a Porter either. I just don't like things too sweet. I like a good cider and even a good mead, but it's awful hard to find these that aren't overly sweet. No doubt there are plenty of excellent sweetish drafts, but they're just not to my taste.
Good one I would rather drink something else just hate the coffee taste but some r better than others thanks for the vid.........................CHEERS
So many different flavors added to stouts now its hard to pick a favorite "standard" stout. Porters are easier in that regard. Great Lakes, Edmund Fitzgerald.

Stouts and porters are what convinced me beer can actually taste good. Prior to trying them, my only beer experience was with light macro lagers.
Seems to be a lot of people's entry point. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!
For me it's IPA first, then Porter. But for fitness reason, if I drink alcohol, I only drink half a IPA or porter/stout
Yes the y taste amazing they are by my favorite beer and if you want another good tasting beer I will recommend Belgium beer

That`s why I love Guinness
Too right, Guinness is always a good choice
It's too strong for me but hopefully itll grow on me
Murphy`s Draught in a can is a very nice drink. Alway produces a beautiful head with creamy coffee choco malt.
From what I heard Stout these days is more bitter than Porter
WOT? Guinness is one of the worse out there, more so as it now all brewed in Dublin. London Guinness was far better
Old Rasputin has to be one of the best out there in my opinion.
A classic beer for sure. Cheers!
Eugene Cosentino I love Old Rasputin also. But I also love Founder’s Kentucky Breakfast Stout.
Agreed
I just got some to try I'm very excited
just tried my first porter today fell in love with it
Drinking Guinness while watching this. Cheers!
