- Quinn playing at Buddy Guy's Legend Club in Chicago with Phil Guy, Buddy's brother. They rip out an incredible version of Stevie Ray Vaughn's Texas Flood. Look for Quinn this summer on Buddy Guy's new CD!!!!
Quinn is amazing. AND very cool of Buddy to acknowledge & give him such great opportunity.
Thanks so much for adding the new Quinn Sullivan videos - I love this kid ! He is going to be so famous and deserves it ! I love his soul.
i luv this kid's stage presence, and u gotta hand it to buddy guy for giving the kid a chance to shine. i hope we see a lot more of both of them
You rock Quinn, Your parents are doing an outstanding job of supporting your music !!!! 100 Stars my guitar friend .Keep playing, I hope someday I get the chance to play with you.I'm also 9 and play the guitar. The funny thing is my name is Quin too.:)
holy crap, the last time I saw this kid play was a year ago and its mind blowing how much better he's become!!!
Love ya Quinn!
still great for a 9 year old
Yeeeeeeeeaaaah,baby-blues 4ever!Braaaaaaaaavoooooooooo Quinn S.!!woooooow
PHIL GUY is singing on this. GOD BLESS him. he passed on this year.
He's 9, for his age he's super good.
That kid's got it man...
to quinn's father: although your son makes a wonders with his squier, it's about time you bought him a strat!
Search SRV's Texas Flood. He gets right into lead right at the beginning as well... This kid has an exciting road ahead of him regardless.
its amazing how jealous people who have no skills can be the kids brillant
SRV Jr, right thurr...
soon they;ll have a Squier QS Strat, hahahaa
jeez...all i have is a 90 dollar washburn starter set that i've been "starting" on for like, 6 years...man...
PHIL GUY !!!!! he passed away this year. God Bless brother Phil.
this kid can probaly challenge the blues greats alive today for their titles in a few years. examples, john Mayer, buddy guy, Robert cray etc
The kid almost has SRV's tone! Nice playing!
For crying out loud, he's only 9. He'll learn when to sit back, and when to make that baby cry as he gets older and gains experience. If I coulda done that at his age, I woulda gone way more overboard than Quinn is.
OMFG! Reincarnation is for real! Stevie Ray is back!
quinn will eventually learn that a song has a beginning a middle and an end, he is young/ A CHILD and has a sugarrush in this vid (this is an old vid by the way), he will start to eventually connect with the stories behind the music eventually, once he has good musicians who can guide him and tell him to slow down and LISTEN, 90% of this music is listening and 10% is playin. He will gain alot of experience, and learn to complement what he hears. Keep on pickin young man.
Exactly! that's a good point.
it said something about Hendrix once saying "It's easy to play the blues, its the spaces in between the notes thats hard"
the kid will learn in time.
What's probly trure? this is pure Shock and AWE! Bravo boy.
100% agreed!
hmmm.... the soul comes through. Seems to be Quinn's gift. Bet people said Mozart didn't have the years or experience either--gifted is gifted. A little support and the kid could do some far out things
the kid is great for his age..thats no guarantee that he'll be a great some day though, so i say just enjoy what he can do now in the present
I disagree - "the blues" is like any kind of art - writing, music, painting: sometimes you find something that you just relate to and you don't know why. He's not just stringing riffs together, he's got a great sense of phrasing and feel. Some people seem born to do certain things. Maybe this guy's one of 'em.
9!!!
the kid is great!,he could let the music breath some more is all i think though, but i guess when yuh young and excited and playing amounce some of best, you wonna let it all out and show what you got.Quinn has places to good once he's under the right guidance.Well done
maybe he plays lead over everything cuz thats what he wanted to learn to play. that what i do i find something i wana play and i learn it and play it. give the kid some slack people on here are just mad they couldnt play that good at 6
Wish the picture quality was as good as the players!!
MARAVILLOSO
does anyone have the video when he was on the oprah show
may 12 2008
i want to see it real bad
how many 9 year old can play any instrument at all?
He is like a new Bonamassa!
More like you're looking at a mini
John Lennon but hearing Stevie Ray Vaughn!
Tell me about it... But I would say actually the next SRV!
Not hard to do since Buddy wasn't playing. That's his brother Phil.
Ha Ha Ha! That's funny ...
the young boy, just needs to let the music BREATH and under stand phrasin',needs to listen to the music some more and not himself, then he'll be alright, thats where the older heads come in to motivate, guide his talent so he is directed properly. You could play a million licks and haven't said anything yet for the night.Just listen to albert king and b.b.king,these guys play 3 notes, but you get the story, yuh dig it ;).Lookin forward to hearing much more of quinn Sullivan in the near future.
When he was 9 he was playing ( much better tha quinn) with the Allmans. Thats the prod I speak of
and for the love of god its VAUGHAN not vaughn
I seen magic work in this world .Who do U think is behind it? The master of music(The Fallen Angel). He should leave the kids alone.
no shit, but can't you see that the kid is pretty goddamn amazing?
Man , this Kid Is Gewd....
Just wish Buddy'd rub off some of that "More is not always better" style onto him, instead of stacking up the Notes so much .
But Man- this Boy cn PLAYy...
Derek Trucks is the best prodigy hands down.
Du bist gut.! Weiter so !
How is the Albert Collins look-a-like?
i guess the only thing i can really critique is that his tone is only OK? haha, but even that's a matter of opinion! i hope this kid stays modest and keeps in touch with what got him where he is
he knows the blues riffs. but he doesn't play it with feeling. it comes across in the off key bends...
ya thats probably true. good point.
@SABRE799 its not him who posted the video its proboley some one else but his still i good player i mean god
note to self: NEVER play in a band with a 9 year old
come on..youre crazy...I am sure he is there because Buddy wants to "feature" his talents, thats why he is the main focus..the kid can rip..admit it
He's better than Hendrix was when he was 8.
Most kids do that in blues jams. It gets bad after the cute factor wears off.
buddy guys brother plays a bit like Albert Collins
i dont think there was a part in that song where quinn played a slow, grinding solo like mostblues players, it seems like hes mostly into the flash instead of feeling the song and what hes playing
hey, but mabye when hes 25 he will be better then hendrix
im just saying dont start compering him to hendrix cause he has a long way, im not saying that as an 8 year-old he is not better, i think he might be the best 8 year-old guitarist ever just dont comper him to hendrix
P.S. especially if he kicks major ass
Facial expressions would be nice maybe a little John Mayer the girls would dig him he would look like hes in pain and they would want to help lol
O.O
He's an adult, therefore not a prodigy.
mozart da quitarra
and why is that a reason to criticise?
It looks to me like the young master guitarist was being discreet.
He could eat this old blues boy for lunch.
If you had a brain you could see that.
Shut up and listen.
Anyway,...someone has to play the rythmn part.
Guitar hero is making everyone's ear a mess.
I quit!!!
Quinn.....You sound great!
Keep it up!!!
oh dont go there..at least not untill he will start to write some songs cause hendrixs songs were geniausly writen
That's not Buddy. It's his brother Phil. But I agree, he should back off on the over-playing. Hell, he's only 9, he'll learn.
Ah Man..C'mon! I was playing Little Wing when I was 18...MONTHS! This kid's got nothin'...NOTHIN'! Just kiddin'. To all the haters..go on back to your garages and keep butchering Mustang Sally with your buddies while this kid throws down Texas Flood with THE Buddy. I hate to see what he's going to play like when he experiences some real-life heartbreak, like dropping an ice cream cone on a hot day or something. Watch your back, Kenny!
Hendrix started playing at 15...so the kid has to be a better guitar player than him at 8 years old.
start playing some more rhythm bro you wont let Buddy play
xDDDD
