    Self taught at 3, can't read music and learns how to play by listening...yes all you haters are right?? Quinn has a gift and could match licks with Buddy Guy at 7 years old...Kid is crazy good and I dig his vibe!

    Those that can, DO.
    Those that can't, post comments on You Tube, criticize or compare the artist to others instead of celebrating each artist in their own right.
    For all those criticizing Quinn, may I point out that 4 days after this gig in New Jersey, he was playing with the great Buddy Guy at the Hollywood Bowl. --------->

    Never judge the emotional feeling or musical expression Quinn projects. When BUDDY GUY says this kid has it all I take that AS GOSPEL. I am from Chicago and I am 63 I have seen Hendrix and all the blues greats who have played or come from Chicago..And I play guitar this kid is far in his talent..They said the same thing about Joe Bonamasssa .and his dream was to play the Royal Albert Hall in 20 years and he made it happen.. So Wisdom is needed here then judgement only he knows the way he feels can anyone here say that? Have You all figured out all the riddles of life and have the answer?. Do you think You can judge brilliance can you play what he does here?

      Mike O'Brien From experience producing concerts and managing touring Rocking Blues groups, playing with friends from BB to Papa John Creach, Muddy Waters and other lesser lights who are (or were) just as good doing our shows as the Dave Perkins Band, I find a lot of people writing posts through this pages that don't know what the heck they're talking about. Being a critic is easy. Being someone who really has something worth saying and reading is a much harder hill to climb.This kid was (and still is) a young teenager. How many of the people writing crap on here could even tune his guitar? I have a feeling they're mostly silly wannabes.

    His guitar playing is impeccable... his life experience will grow with time... and someday we will hear Quinn "Play the Blues." because life has a way about it of maturing even the greenest and freshest of us... but in the meantime... let him be a young extremely talented guitar player learning about his life... you can't really expect him to sing about 60 years of hard living when he is still a teenager... But I believe that if given a chance... He Will..

    • @kc8ntp
      @kc8ntp 9 років тому +5

      Exactly what I was thinking. Once he gains experience and loses innocence, his playing will evolve. I was one of those teenage Blues players and look back and see what my playing used to be, and what a difference that life-experience has made.

    Playing the blues takes a certain "feel" You don't have to have a suffering life to play the blues. It is music...if you have the feel for it and (this kid definitely has it) you can play it well. Just imagine when this kid gets more experience learning from some of the blues legends he is playing with(Buudy Guy , BB King) - He will keep this great music alive for years to come.

      Wrong. BB king not easy to play. This kid has no soul. I'm sorry your wrong? This band and kid wreck this song. White guys don't have it? Jimi Hendrix was gift it. Jimi Hendrix told BB king I listen to you a lot. That's why Hendrix is good. You learn how to play the blues to have soul in it by turning the amp down? Its not easy? Because it has a lot of soul in it? By turn it down? It help you learn to play it better when you turn the amp up. Its the drive on the amp? You turning it down or up. I know this ? I'm guitarist my self. A lot great guitarist today can't play the Blues when the drive is down? They suck at it and trying to be fast at it and not done right to be fast at it. They been using drive amp up all the time. If u have a ear hear you can hear how bad this is in Rock music or so call White guys blues rock greats? How much they suck and can't play guitar right? Soul some times it's a gift to play the guitar. It's makes the guitar playing sound better. That's why Handrix is Number 1# in rock and hard rock and blues rock and Jimi slams over being Number #1 over dumb ass Heavy Metal Guitarist? Heavy Metal Music is Stupid rock? In blues Jimi hendrix is in the top ten. Man you got to have soul in your guitar playing? It's a gifted? I like King Fish he has soul in his guitar playing. He is young guy to? Google it or UA-cam it? King Fish?

    You make all of us 60 plus year olds very happy! To see the younger generation playing the blues and actually have talent is a God send. I’ve seen your YT videos with Buddy Guy and I’m so looking forward to see what you do in future. You’ve come along way, but like Albert King said to Stevie Ray when they first played together, “son, your good but your gonna be even better”! Best wishes young man.
    PS. Best cover of Thrill is Gone I’ve ever heard! Love it!!

    This kid truly has an amazing talent and especially for only being 14 years old!!! I don't think he should be compared to Srv, Jimi Hendrix or Eric Clapton because these guys are guitar gods and they have all taken their playing styles to the absolute highest standards possible. I love seeing the the passion coming out of Quinn's playing, I hope he never stops and always keeps going, it will be interesting to see what the future will bring.

    If you didn't know, Quinn is already a legend. As Buddy Guy and B.B. King's apprentice, he has learned more than most of us guitar players will in our lifetimes! I've played almost 40 years and I'll never play as good as he does now. When Quinn plays this in 10 years, it will be so great you will post that you knew it all the time!

      You're an idiot JediDale! Is your comment just to make Quinn feel better when he sees it? You don't LEARN the blues by talking to people, you learn it by living it. Maybe in 20-40 years Quinn might be great.....

      @kc8ntp 9 років тому +1

      B Chand Agreed. I was a teenage Blues player back in the late 80s (been playing guitar for 31 years)--I thought I was hot-shit. Now, nearing 40-years-old, I realize I still don't know the bullshit and strife that some of these Blues men have had shape their playing and who they are.

    What a monster. Amazing talent. Can't wait until he puts his band together, hopefully of other young cats/uber musicians and starts making his own music. I'm not suggesting that he'll "graduate" from the blues, but as he ages it will remarkable to see him carve some space that's all his own.

Kid, you have a great gift and can gain fame and fortune if you want it and keeping working hard. Please don't allow drugs or alcohol steal this gift away from you and end your career short as it has done for so manny. Stay humble, be smart, and play every gig like it's your last, and you can have a wonderful life doing what you love to do and make huge impact in music.

      Where he does play ahead, it's on purpose. Quinn is nothing less than OUTSTANDING both, for his age and currently. Quinn's skill, feeling, and soul exceed his age. He hasn't been alive long enough to reach this level even if he practiced every day since he born. I've been playing for three decades.

His phrasing is better too, i think he's feeling the music more rather than just playing.

      I am a fan of drumming and grew up in the era of drum solos...some stupid-long...not many remain interesting and soon you hear the drummer doing moves just for other drummers to hear...that being said, I caught some of Benny Greb's videos on here, and he usually plays to music....it spoiled me, I don't want to hear a drummer by themselves any more..

      Mark Blethen The drummers I've known and produced live have been some of the best in business. They'll throw little flourishes in while they're building the pocket and carrying the foundation with their bass players. They've had me cracking up and shouting at their art when the people listing for lyrics they've heard before have it lilt, blast or float past them without knowing what they've heard. It's hard to call drum solos that stretch out much more than MAYBE 15 seconds much more than a "LOOK AT ME!" pat on their own backs. For people who know what a kit can do with a good pilot, a one and a half second flourish is more outstanding than a Buddy Rich spotlight.

    He is definitely a talent, but no one can ever replace Stevie Ray, never, ever...... Even if this kid has "more" talent than maybe stevie did, but you can't compare what so ever.

    The only problem with Quinn is his inability to play to the crowd like He does when He was playing to the Keyboardist, once He can draw on the Audience like he did the Keyboard Player, then He will be unstopable. and that will come with age.

    "Clapton is God " I was a kid saw that in a newspaper .,All the players comparisons ,he will be this and Clapton started this style of playing ,I wonder how Freddie King would of thought about that comment.Kinda weird stuff comparisons s its apples and bowlin balls . I remember being a giging house band in the same club connected to another club where Danny Gatton , Roy Buchanon would play jam there all the time and ppl would yell at those guys your the best theyd just
    laugh. Enjoy the kid hes not anyone but himself and hes talented, Good guitar plyers dime a dozen lets see how this kid does I think he will do just fine .

    I'm glad to hear that guitar players hear Clapton in this kids style. I really like this kid, look at him, he dresses like a kid, isn't flashy. He seems focused on the music and plays homage to all the great licks and guitar players. Let's not forget the great Buddy Guy, his influence and philosophy are just adding to this kid. He appears to have great respect for the other musicians on stage. He looked so funny that first time he appeared on stage with Buddy Guy but in that moment I saw what a giant Buddy Guy is. Buddy Guy is a very generous man and he recognized something great in this kid, I'll take his endorsement...this kid is something else!

    Quinn is just an amazing player already. Even if he stagnates, (which I doubt he will) he'll still be a great player. He still has to mature in age, as a musician and as a human being. It will be interesting to hear him in collaboration with Tal in about 5-6 years time, wouldn't it? In my opinion, no one is or will be the best (that's a label we put on them). When it comes to players of that calibre, their horizons are that much wider than ours. The more you know, the more you realize what there is out there!

    It's too bad that Quinn never got the chance to play this song and do some "cutting heads"with B.B. It would have been the classic meeting of the decade.
