that moment at @1:41 no gloves and no oil spill on hand says he is knows his car good.... thank you for this i did oil change on my 2016 v6 yesterday- You got a new subscriber :D
I have a question. Once you started the 300 after the new oil was in, why did you check the level so soon? I usually wait 15-20 minutes to let oil settle when checking oil level.
We checked it quickly the first time because we knew we were probably going to need to add more oil after the it circulated and filled the oil filter. Our last check was when it was on the ground and more oil had been added. Really just personal preference. Thanks for the comment.
Synthetic blend oil is a mixture of conventional motor oil and fully synthetic motor oil. What we're saying is try your best not to mix and match if you don't have to. But you're welcome to do as you please. Thanks for the comment!
Not a drop spilled besides when you were showing the oil filter cap, me on the other hand spilled a shit load of oil when removing the oil drain plug lol 2 month old driveway smh thanks for the informative video!!
It was all good until the fuzzy wuzzy steering wheel cover. LOL. Kidding aside. Thanks for this. About to change my first oil change for my Chrysler 300. Great video, and right to the point. Subscribed.
Without having put it in yourself it can be hard to tell when draining it but you may be able to tell due to full synthetic oil being generally clearer and has a more consistent texture than conventional oil which can be thicker. But again, hard to tell without having previous knowledge.
Personally, I love mine! Depending on your driving style and general commute you may want to get the V6. There still plenty of power there to have fun with but you wont kill your bank account by continuously stopping at the gas station. If you don't drive long distances the V8 is great fun. A close friend has one and it's quick! A cold air intake also makes a serious difference in the throttle response, you can check out our video on how to install that if you'd like. Hope this helped!
I get 28MPG and I have a 50 mile commute daily. I get on it from time to time so that will fluctuate but generally speaking in the summer it says above 25MPG. In the winter when my AWD kicks in it'll drop to about 21-22MPG but those are also mostly highway miles. In more stop and go traffic I wouldn't bank on having the best fuel economy.
Debating on going to Chrysler for an oil change and getting charged like $55-75 plus the extra price for cabin and air filters they always try and make me get or just doing it myself
Yea, the up sells always get ya at places like that. If you feel confident in doing it yourself I would say go for it! Save yourself a couple of bucks and have the piece of mind of knowing it was done properly.
Renegade Rebuilds so I went to a regular mechanic instead of the dealer for all my filters (cabin and air and oil) and for full synthetic oil it was $60. Not too bad. However they only did 5 quarts? Then I realized the dealers also do 5 quarts instead of 6? It’s a v6 so shouldn’t it be 6 quarts? Or do these places do 5 so you have to come back and change your oil sooner?
I used the 5w 20 recomended on my 2015 3.6 300 It seems so thin compared to all the other oils I have used before Just wondering about the message on the dash Now that I have done the oil change It is still on Any suggestions as I dont see the option to reset.
Hey Terry, at the end of the video we should you how to reset this. You will use the arrows on your steering wheel and once you scroll over to the oil life you can press and hold 'ok' and it should reset. If you fast forward to the last minute or two of the video you'll see exactly what I'm referring to. Hope this helps!
Correct, they can be mixed but just for people (beginners) who don't really know much about vehicles its best to tell them to stick to using one or the other and not mix them. This video was intended for people who might be doing this kind of thing for the first time, not professionals. Hope you enjoyed the video regardless of the synthetic/non-synthetic comment. Thanks for the comment Cave!
@@renegaderebuilds yes the video was helpful. But I still strongly disagree, you shouldn't tell anyone misinformation, especially beginners. They're the ones who need accurate information the most. It is completely fine to mix standard and synthetic oil in any ratio.
It's recommended 6 qt of oil. I put 6 qts in and the dip stick still shows I need 1 more qt? Even when the engine is still warm, and I let the car sit for 10 minutes...to let the oil drain to the oil pan, before checking oil level. It still shows I need exactly 1 more qt. No sign of oil leak anywhere. Can someone shed some light on this weirdness? 2015 300 limited with v6.
You risk damaging the underside of your car. Personally my skid plate has saved me a few times but it's your choice if you reinstall it or not. Hope that helps!
@@renegaderebuilds I change my own oil and have a 2013 Ford Taurus and I think I have seen them with a skid plate but mine that I bought used has none as I assume someone left it off. I have now had the car for over 5 hears and no damage. Is the Chrysler unique for damage without a skid plate.
Hey I have a question. I have a 2017 chrysler 300S 3.6. I am currently using Mobile 1 Synthetic 5W20 with a Fram Ultra synthetic filter. Is it safe to continue to use this oil and filter or go with a different brand like Mopar. Even though all the oil is bottled by one manufacturer does it really make a difference?
If you're using synthetic oil you should continue to use synthetic, you shouldn't switch to regular oil. In regards to the oil filter, as long as it is compatible with the 2017 300S you can use it regardless of the oil filter manufacturer. Hope this helps to answer your question! If not, reach back out and we'll do what we can to help.
Stick with Mobile 1 it is one if not the best out there. I live in the desert, and I try to change my filters out ever 3 to 5k and add as needed. I will then do a complete change when it calls for it. Now the summers are hot here, so if I am on the road a lot or run the car hard, I'll do a complete change when it say 25% left.
Nice! Sounds like you have a good routine when it comes to making sure you're taking car of your vehicle. You'll have to keep me updated on how it does in those hotter climates.
Anyone freak out when they pulled their dipstick out and it had like 20 twists in it? Lol it's the first car I've ever had that didn't have a straight one with one twist on the end.
@@renegaderebuilds Usually with cartridge style filters there is some oil that stays in the filter housing and when you remove the filter it drains into the pan. So by changing the filter first you would get all of the old oil out when you drain the oil after.

Is it important which way the filter goes in? This was opposite of what I found.
It only goes in one way. You really can't put it in the other way without noticing its being done wrong. Thanks for the comment.
