    Great video there last year i had a few traps were they would scatch around the pan and expose the pan cover that i used. Most of the time i thought it was a coon but never did catch them.

      What were you using as a pan cover? I've had mice dig at my polyfil under the pan before

      I was using latex pan covers. I was thinking it may have been possums too but mice makes sense too.

    Once again, great podcast, very good info, the only thing that would have made it better, in my opinion, is to insert/edit in a few images/vids, showing how you're bedding your traps, while you're describing it. You may want to consider adding these to the next videos, I think it would add a lot of additional content, as far as it would actually show the viewers what you're describing. Just food for thought. Enjoy all the videos, keep them coming.

      I debated on that, actually doing some bedding while I was doing the podcast. It would have definitely helped. I should have looked back through some old videos and found one of me bedding, I didn't think about that, good idea, thanks!

      No problem. I've found that most people can understand a technique by seeing it in action, rather than just hearing someone describe it. Kinda like learning a job by 'on the job training', by actually doing the job. Hope you'll put some in your next vid.

    Kris I listen to 3 podcast, Clint’s, Tim’s and Yours, I love how yours is all trapping, Don’t get me wrong I feel very like minded with Tim and Clint and love listening to there material, But I really enjoy someone hitting on trapping every episode, I wouldn’t mind seeing you do one on skinning knifes, I bought a meat trapper skinner, I really think I’m going like it, been playing with it some, it’s different, in a good way I think...

      Shoot its an honor to be listened to at all, much less considered along with those guys! I like the idea of discussing skinning knives. I've seen meat trappers and really like the logic behind that style of knife. Thanks

    I started using 16d penny nails and hooking the heads of the nail on the corners of the trap jaws and then pushing down on the nails. It hold the trap very solid.

    What works the best on coyote mb 450 or 550 or 650 ?

    • @coyotetrappingschool1575
      @coyotetrappingschool1575  5 років тому

      I'm a huge fan of the 550. 450 is a good fox/coyote trap, but if you're mainly targeting coyotes I think the 550 is a little better. I've only used the 650 a very little, it takes some getting used to if you're used to regular traps with dogs. Its a strong trap and I think a good option if you're up north and dealing with freezing ground. In the south I think the MB 550 is hard to beat

    What type of bedding material are you going to be using in Ohio when you come up here? Waxed dirt, Pete moss or just the surrounding dirt? Early season trapping is kinda tricky and frustrating in Ohio. Lots of weather changes. I use waxed dirt.

    • @coyotetrappingschool1575
      @coyotetrappingschool1575  6 років тому

      Waxed dirt, never used it before, we don't have a need for it often in the south

    • @poorboytrapper1960
      @poorboytrapper1960 6 років тому

      Coyote Trapping School it’s a little harder to bed in the waxed dirt. You’ll adapt to it. Let us all know how you do in Ohio. Good luck brother!! Keep up the great work!!

    Great video old buddy I am sure I have missed some digger cayots but I've always said you get there the first morning trap is dug up you reset go there the next morning Doug up again game on it almost makes a little extra Chase trying to catch that one. On the other hand you could maybe do it in another podcast about equipment but what are your thoughts on a cookie cutter I have gone back and forth about it. I have trapped for 20 years without one but have been contemplating about it. I do a lot of things old school but I'm willing to try things a little different if they work in the favor for me.

    • @coyotetrappingschool1575
      @coyotetrappingschool1575  6 років тому

      I need to try one out, I'm skeptical of how well it would work for me with our hard clay but I'm kinda in the same boat as you, never used one before but have heard people talk about it.

    • @CptRedneck
      @CptRedneck 6 років тому

      I’ve tried it, if you want it to work make your own, or find one custom made to the specific trap, the one I ordered was “for the size” of a mb 550, I didn’t like it, cuts a little to big, another part I’d rather not have on it is the side pieces that cut out your trap ears, I’d rather chip that out myself, I’m going make one for my k9 extremes and my mb 550s, I’m going make it fit the jaws perfectly,
