I made this bag. Thank you. The most difficult part was the strap. Would you be doing a tutorial specifically for the strap only. I would love to see your step by step process.
This is what I needed to give me the confidence to make a crochet bag. The usual thinner straps have concerned me in the past. Thanks for taking the time to share 🌼❤️
You’re very welcome! Glad this could help give you the confidence 💕 Making strong straps is something I’m always mindful of when designing my crochet bags 🧶👍🏻
I made this bag and the strap pulled on one side causing some curling. Looking back, I wish I had taken a whole other approach to the strap and worked it differently. I spent a lot of time on the bag, including a fabric lining so I couldn’t go back to fix it. I probably would do a strap separate from the bag. It was a gift for my daughter and she loved the bag.
What a special gift - I’m so happy to hear that she loved the bag 💕 Some people do not like the tightness of the waistcoat stitches, but single crochet stitches work too! Blocking the straps really helps to relax the fibers and take away the curling too!
I do my straps using chainless foundation SC. When i get to the part where the strap isnt attached to the bag i start doing CFSC & then i don't have that awful tightness a chain can make plus it stops the edges from curling. Also its denser than a chain & SC row 😊
If you’ve already crocheted them separately, then I would probably try and whip stitch them onto the bag, going back and forth multiple times. If possible, I would then try and slip stitch around the edge of the straps and edge of the bag to “join” them together and make it stronger!
The waistcoat stitch is the single crochet stitch placed in a certain area 👍🏻 Rather than working the single crochet in the front and back loops, you insert your hook into the middle of the V of the stitch below!
Can you tell me the yarn that you used for this crochet bag and the hook. What weight or ply yarn should I take and what hooks should I use? Are you using one hook throughout or as you said that you changed the hook, then what hook did you use for granny squares?
Hi there - thanks for your interest 💕 You can find all those details in the materials section in the pattern - it’s free on my blog ☺️ You can look for the “Breezy Days Daisy Bag” pattern ❤️
The only difference is where you insert your crochet hook! Rather than inserting your hook into the front and back loops (like for single crochets), you insert your hook into the middle of the V for the waistcoat stitch. I demonstrate how to do this in the “Breezy Days Daisy Bag” UA-cam tutorial ☺️
heyy that a beautiful bag!! can you please tell me the name of the yarn you r using is it something different from the normal yarn? I'm a beginner Thank you ❤
I made a tote bag but it is so weak any suggestions to make it stronger? Will making the strap stronger make the bag stronger? Can it hold heavy things?
Hi there! To make a tote bag stronger, it’s important to use strong yarn that will not stretch out too much. I love using 100% mercerized cotton as it is very strong and durable. It also depends on the type of stitches that you are using. It’s best to use tight and dense stitches with a smaller crochet hook to reduce the stretch. You could also line the inside of the crochet bag with fabric to make it stronger!

Yes I have made a tutorial for the strap! You can find it in the UA-cam video for this bag!
What's the name of do you have a link ?
What’s the best yarn for this bag? I can use cotton
What yarn could I use? I can’t use cotton. It hurts my hands
@@maryoneil1468 acrylic or a acrylic and cotton blend, it will hurt your hands less, or any natural fibre would be better than acrylic

This strap would be nice too for a top for us well endowed girlies 😁
Ooh yes this would be a nice strap for a top!
I used your method to make the straps and I learned the waistcoat stitch from you. Thank you so much.

I am currently making a bag and am using thermal stitch for the straps
I’ve heard that the thermal stitch is a great one to use for straps 🙌🏻 Thx for sharing!
Wow nice
Thanks so much 💕
Sorry but could you make a tut on how to attach the crochet straps onto a crochet bag? I made a mistake by doing it separately

Is the waistcoat stitch the same as a single crochet?

Hi I’m new here! What kind of yarn are you using for this particular bag?
Hi there! Welcome 🙋🏻♀️ I used 24/7 Cotton for this bag - it’s a very strong 100% mercerized cotton. I love using it to crochet all my bag designs 🩷

Do you sell these?
I only offer the crochet pattern, no finished items!
Hi is this made of cotton yarn ty
Yes I used 100% mercerized cotton called “24/7 Cotton” by Lion Brand!
After making this… is there any possible way to thicken the strap even more without ruining it? The straps are still thin for me..
You could try adding some slip stitch rounds to thicken the strap! Some people like to line the straps with fabric or sew rope onto it too!
@@AllAboutAmiBlog great idea! Thank you!
