These are sponsored fyi. TBH, imo he could cover these games more than some of the heavy blockbusters like GOW ragnarok (that is nearly identical to the ps5 release from a year ago) or diablo4 expansion when he clearly didn’t like any of the season patches. This is just my opinion though.
@@MrGainify doesn't matter to me, I still appreciate this a bunch over the umpteenth "AAA" "review". And to be fair to Mortem, he clearly discloses where he gets sponsored.
Y'know, what's wild to me is that this passion project in particular came from a couple of older gents from my hometown, which all else aside, I'm just glad that the indie space is such that folks who have a passion project are able to actually make and sell the thing to whatever niche exists that'll go for it. That niche includes me, but even if it didn't, I'm always glad when projects like this get eyes on 'em, y'know?
Some guy mentioned this game on a random comment this last night on r/CRPG, I wake up today and check the daily Morti upload and guess what... "Check Out: Passageway of the Ancients!" pops up. Added to wishlist. I swear Mortismal Gaming is everywhere an is secretly the illuminati of the crpg genre. He doesn't rest. Sleep is for the week. A nightwalker, a father, a content of creation more so than a content creator, a husband and a geek. Morti please DO go to the gym too man, I don't understand how you manage to squeeze so much time AND still be passionate about games. Legend.
I have managed to play around 3 hours today, and half of that spent on getting used to the jank and the UI, but eventually i warmed up to this game. The story is surprisingly engaging and the writing is generally good. The aiming combat feels like extra micromanagement but i have come to enjoy it as well. My only real complaints is some of the tooltips and Icons are really small because i plug my computer on a TV to play it on my recliner couch.
Glad to hear the story and the writing is good, my worry are those puzzles as a non native English speaker, did you found any of those puzzles and were they easy?
Interesting! It definitely looks a little janky, but I get that feeling that is very intentional. I love how committed to the early 00's aesthetic this game appears to be. I'm curious to try it but I'm also wary if it'll offer much beyond a nostalgia trip. Unrelated, but the footage you showed here reminds me a lot of the opening of Kingmaker when you're trying to escape Jamandi Aldori's mansion lol.
The descriptiosn clearly says he's 'Talking about the recently released indie crpg, Passageway of the Ancients!" and the title in nowhere has review in it.
Love how you give even such "niche" passion projects their chance to shine!

@@MrGainify This one was not sponsored.
This is not sponsored in any way, sponsorships have to be disclosed per the FTC or I could face fines starting at 40k or even get my channel deleted.
@@MortismalGaming I thought all check out videos were sponsored. Guess not!
Thanks so much for checking out Passageway of the Ancients!
This man doesn’t rest
He has people for that.

I’ve been following this game for a long time on Steam. It’s nice to see it!
Thank you for the support!
What a lovely disguise Caledon got, a tall and slim dwarf!
It certainly has that old infinity engine style feel to it (BG1/2, icewind dale 1/2, planescape: torment) with the real time with pause combat.
weirdly that introduction made me think about breath of fire 3

@@zeet3958 pretty easy. They are basically simple crosswords

The game is very much inspired by CRPGs of the '90s and early 2000s!
Looks great! Maybe you could do a review later, when your schedule opens up a bit!
Love how the syntax of the dwarf description is taken from Dwarf Fortress
Thanks for the video. Definitely looks like an acquired taste... for jank. Onward to 400k. All glory to the algorithm.
The art style is very 2002 NWN and the systems look interesting. Will give it a look.
Aiming system is nice, would be good if there was some body parts division, though you can only ask so much from the team of 4 people.
Do you plan on reviewing flint treasure of oblivion when it drops?
Probably not right away but yes I will be reviewing it
The systems sound interesting, I hope these devs get a chance to work on a bigger project and implement some of those concepts into a more robust game
We appreciate the support!
Passageway UA-cam Jazz 🎶
This game reminds me of shadowrun a bit.
At 3:20 you can see 3/4 development team. :D
I know you've got heaps on at the moment - but will you be reviewing Unknown 9 at some stage?
Yes, its not top priority but its one of the games Im currently tied up with
Looks like a pretty good game.
Shame mort does not do adult games. I would love to pitch him my projects.
Is the story short? is there any diplomacy and factions? Is the player forced to railroad it?
when was your last day off ? i have the feeling you work 24/7
It looks intriguing. Sometimes, I prefer a simpler game. Complex games can be kind of exhausting.
$20. And it ain't bad. I've played it for a couple hours. It's ok. Worth the $20.
Respect
Gronk!
Sounds like a Carry-On film 😂
Mort 100% has a time turner.
Comment for Al Gore Rhythm.

Gee, I wonder what you're so busy doing in mid October. Ten years after the release of Inquisition...

your whole introduction to the game kind of ruined any positive first impression lol
i mean you showed the same 12 second clip of gameplay. not really a ....in depth review
Maybe thats why it is checkout
This is more of First Impressions type video. He does go quite indept in reviews.
Does it say review in the title?
Morts videos are usually not about the gameplay clips anyway. This seems more like you went in with the wrong expectations.
