Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 кві 2020
- Hello guys today I'll be showing you how to make an easy DIY wooden pull up bar.
All materials:
3----- 4in x 4in x 8ft wood piece
2 cut to 7ft and 1 cut in half to be 4ft each
2------2in x 4in x 8ft stud
Bottom two for base cut to 31.5in and 4 cut to 30in
2------Floor Flange
(HomeDepot website: www.homedepot.... )
1------Steel pipe (^^Make sure its the right size from the Flange!!^^)
(HomeDepot website: www.homedepot.... )
4------6" 12 ga heavy duty strap
(HomeDepot website: www.homedepot.... )
1------1 pack of Hex Head Concrete and Masonry Screw
(HomeDepot website: www.homedepot.... )
^That's a link for a 75 pack, you don't need that many but they do have a 8 pack. Buy the 8 pack and not the 75 pack!!! This link is just an example of what those screws look like!!
1-----1 Pack of exterior screws (3-1/2)in
I like that this is portable and not dug into the ground or drilled into the floor or ceiling like so many. I'll be building a modified version of this with a dip station also.
Bro thank you you made the exact dimension I’m looking for. Not too big. Not too wide. Perfect!
Exactly!!! I love this size as well!
Thanks for the video, I made mine 8'3" off the ground by not cutting the third beam at all. At 6'5" it works great. I also made it with a 48" pipe which allows for wide grip and some Olympic rings as well. Thanks for the clear instructions and links in the description.
Yea man for sure! Glad to hear that everything went smoothly!
@Alex Yorca nope! It's been working great as is. Definitely recommend widening the bar length to fit your needs, especially with rings. No extra material needed except for a wider bar. I fit my rings and my workout straps on it easy, plenty of room.
Great video.... in the process of making this at home. Also, very helpful that you've put the materials in the description 👍
Thanks! I try very hard to be as clear as possible! Great to hear that I’ve successfully helped someone!!
Just built this today - for anyone interested, total cost right now is about 130 for the lumber, screws, and pipe at Home Depot - bit of an increase with lumber prices. Took about 2 hours total. Loving it so far and hoping to get 2 years-plus of use before I have to move again.
Jeez dude that’s great!! Prices so spiked up right now!
how do you know when it's time to change the bar? I'm hoping not to fall off before knowing that I need to replace something on it :D
Just awesome, I built one for my son exactly like yours. Thanks!
Good video maheen probably would need it
That's what up man. I am definitely going to make this at home, so I can make some gainz at home. And the tutorial was really easy to follow and very comprehensive. 👍
Aye thanks man, really appreciate it.
Solid work bud.
You use ceramic screws, stainless steel screws with A4 grade are much better for outdoor use as they don't rust and have a self repairing organic coating on them which withstand the lynolacid in your wood and the acidity in rain. They're very strong as they can't break unlike zinc screws or cheaper stainless steel screws like A2 grade. Also i would use a liquid seal coating for your wooden beams as they are prone to rot over time
Thanks for the info man, I appreciate the feedback a lot as it helps me learn! I’ll take this into consideration for my next projects! Thanks a ton and hope you enjoyed the video!
Im pretty sure no one has all of that in their household lool
@@emanuelkodarakis4853 its called BUYING IT
Thank you! I built this today from your video. Some slight modification s. Thank you 😃
Very simple, strong and useful.
Thanks man.
Wish I woulda went with a 36 inch pipe just to do wide pull ups but awesome video. Took me 2 days but very helpful
upgrade! All you need is the longer 2x4s and the pipe. maybe set them slightly closer or further and and bar higher or lower, rather than reusing the old holes for screws.
I now know what I’ll spend my stimulus check on
stimulus check? more like what you'll spend your breakfast money at Starbucks
@@abdulkhafidsulaymaan not really, this is well over 100 dollars of material, about 30 dollars per plank and 5-10 dollars for screws and other stuff
@@connormclees9787 If that's the case it's better to just buy one.
Just built one and it is perfect
Great ideas. I am looking forward to build one. Thank you so much for sharing.
Nice build. One tip they do sell 90° brackets so you don't have to bend them.
Dude they were expensive so I went with the cheaper alternative!
😭🙏💛🤳
Dude that’s awesome! Me and my brother decided to build this the other day! Came out perfect!
Awesome lol!
Awesome
Thank you so much
Thanks for your video. I just made a similar one in my backyard with a little bit modification. Good to know that your are also from Houston.
Wonder if you could do muscle ups and kipping pull ups on this
I'm curious to know if you are able to add holes and make this a half power rack for squats and bench. Will ti hold the weight of 200-300 lbs
Not too sure but maybe with reinforcements you could
thanks for video 💯
What was the diameter of the steel rod? I wanted to use 1in. But I can't seem to find it anywhere. 3/4 everywhere but it seems too small for my grip.
Yea that’s why I used the 1in... it feels so nice in the hand!
Check home depot online if u can’t find it in the store, I found it in the store and put the 1inch round sides on and didn’t pay for those at self checkout lol didn’t have a barcode on them
Right on guys
How much weight can it handle
Probably around 250lbs
Dope video man. I might have to do this since I have concrete slate in my backyard and drilling to the ground would be too much of a hassle
How much did everything cost quick question
$70 ish (USD)
Hey how wide is the space in-between your posts? Or the length of your metal bar.
You can space it to your preferred length. Mine was about 60” I believe? Not sure. But take a measurement of your arms spread apart doing a pull up. That’s the best measurement.
Thanks man, this is amazing. Can I build a longer one so as I could hang my gymnastics rings?
And how will this fare under weather conditions like sun and rain? Thanks man
I would countersink a large lag screw with a washer from bottom if going taller or heavy weight (personally would use them for bar as well). Pressure treated wood if leaving outside. A yearly water seal and a power wash will keep it clean
Yea for sure, you’d definitely need more stability if you were to go taller! But the height isn’t bad on this one!
great video man definitely gonna make it like your design, but I am confused between the outer diameter of the pipe cuz the most common opinions are saying ither 1 inch or 1.25 inches in diameter.I was wondering what's your insight on that? Thank you.
Honeslty I used 1” and it was actually like the perfect size for my hands. I have very large hands for reference too, and it was a very perfect feeling with the 1”
Curious, why use tapcons for mounting the bar? Are they stronger screws compared to regular exterior wood screws? Definitely building this. Going to mount a hangboard to it for grip/finger strength too.
Yes they definitely are, and they’re rated for outdoor and are coated with a stronger protective coating! Till today they are holding up very very well!!!
Sick video dude. You think it could support muscle ups?
Nah, you’d need more supports
Can it handle muscle ups ?
Nah man, no muscle ups!
T3m0ur wait why not?
Is IT shaking during pullups? I mean the whole thing or is it stable with no shaking during the whole movement? Thx
Nope, no shaking!
Is it stable enough for muscle ups?
Hmm haven’t tried
T3m0ur i was going to cement my post in the ground but this design means i can move when needed or if i move house then....
But not sure about swinging on it, suppose i could bolt it into the concrete.
Ray Will that could work, just have to make sure over time that the bolts can’t and won’t come loose
@@7tgcountryman Have you thought about putting sand bags?
Where do you live? Damn that neighbourhood is beautiful
Thanks man! Dude there are so many nice neighborhoods in Houston!
I used this for mine. its almost done, maybe ill make a video in response. thanks dude
Would a normal power drill work for this particular project?
Yup
bro all yours links aren't working, it says access denied.
Hmm are you in the US? I’ll check the links out! Thanks for pointing it out man!
@@T3m0ur i'm from philippines, great video man!
How much weight do you (think) this build could handle? I'm 330 pounds and wanting to build something like this but with my weight I'm worried it wouldn't last long.
Hmm, I’m actually not sure but my friend is 220 and it seemed to work just fine honestly, I don’t think it would budge even at 300lbs to be honest
I love it! Any idea for a rough estimate on materials cost? Committed to doing it, just wondering what I'm looking at for cost. (yes, I know lumber costs different amounts in different places at different times). Thank you!!!
It’s probably going to cost anywhere from $100 USD to $150 now :(
Easy diy guilloti... Ohh pull up bar
What is the length of the bar? 31.5 inches like the 2x4 support on the bottom?
Not too sure but the link has it.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Why did you use blue concrete screws on wood??
They’re stronger and also, Home Depot didn’t have the size I needed for exterior rated wood screws. Also couldn’t use lag bolts are they were too big.
How much weight do you think this can hold?
It hold 220 just fine, haven’t tested the max yet...
can this also be a squat rack or bench rack?
Possibly?
Nice Job! What do you think the weight capacity would be?
If I had to take an educated guess, 250Lbs no problem
Just built one only concern it moves a bit to the left or right sideways
Hmm, maybe add more supports? I didn’t seem to have this problem.....
Are you on a leveled surface?
Afghandy Dynamite yeah, I’m just saying if u push it left to right sideways it moves a tiny bit, I tried even putting L brackets on the side as well and still moves a bit
I have the same issue. It’s nothing crazy, but still want better support. May strengthen the bottom by making an X frame and see if that helps. @allen415415 are you still having the same issue or you fixed it?
Fayaz Patel yeah I just made it and have the same issue. Nothing too crazy though, just gotta hope the metal brackets stay strong
Omw to home depot in 10 mins to get the materials
Done! Worked like a charm, thanks!!
Awesome!!!! I’m glad man! Hope to see it last a while!
How much did u spend bro?
If I made this a bit taller, say around 7.5 feet, do you think it could support rings and ring muscle ups?
Great video by the way!
Probably not considering it would be taller which means you’d need a better bottom support and especially for muscle ups, you’d definitely need a better, heavier bottom frame.
@@T3m0ur I have the same question, I got rings recently. Maybe add sand bags to the base?
How did you figure out the length for the angled pieces of wood?
You can just measure after you’ve built the two perpendicular pieces. I used Pythagorean theorem for that 😅
@@T3m0ur a^2+b^2=c^2 gang
Lolll right 😭😂
Is it green wood?
Well I’m not too sure what green wood is, but I can say for sure it’s pressure treated!
How much did this cost you??
Around $80
Go Coogs!
Yessir!!!
What's the size of the wood?
It’s all in the description!
What length is pipe 3' or 4'?
The diameter was 1” and length was 30”
These are scary times we are witnesses right now children. I decided to make this pull up bar today but I can't find the lumber at any stores in my area- there is a freaking shortage on lumber?! wtf? Thats just scary to me... I guess because of the quarantine the lumber is not getting delivered... I guess..
Woah, lumbar shortage sounds serious man. If there’s anything I’d be afraid of is not being able to find stuff like common wood.. hopefully you can find some in the very near future man and keep me updated! Best of luck man, and take care!
what kind of saw is that?
617K3vin it’s just a circular saw.
Can anyone tell the name of the song . Thank you
It’s in the description!
How much did it cost man? It looks very well done 👌
$83 USD
@@T3m0ur Just finished ours, yesterday brother. Thank you!
Efrain Rodriguez-Arzaga hey does yours move a tiny bit left to right sideways if u wiggle it to see if it moves?
How much money did you spend in all the materials brother? APPRECIATE.
$82!
How much does it cost?
About $83
What’s the foot print measurements on this?
Check the description!
how much was the materials?

Hows the pullup bar brother?
Holding up well! Still strong as a rock!
I built a smart pull up bar on my channel, check it out if you get a chance! love this build!
For sure man!
no gym membership ....no problem
Thats called black pipe, I know .. sounds to obvious.. but seriously..black pipe lol
SS316 sch40? 😂 jk but yea, it’s just a black steel pipe!
5 mins ok sure bud
???
Why are you doing this on the sidewalk??? Lol
Dude because we had cars on our driveway and inside the garage....
I was watching one of ur old vids anyway you could give me ur email
Sure, it’s temourb@yahoo.com, you can contact me there for any business or other related inquiries.
Please don't park on the sidewalk.
We had 6 cars at the time of recording that video 😅
