    GIRLLL you calmed me down lol. I just got my hair straightened by the Dominicans, and my hair had so much heat damage after i washed it. So much stringy and straight pieces randomly all over. I cried so hard. Ive been natural for 2 years now, and now I feel like it was all for nothing. SIGH!

    Use Creme of Nature's Strengthening Milk Masque to revert back heat damage. I've had heat damage for a couple of months and nothing worked, but when I used this it completely gave me my curls back!

      KayV BTS It does work. At least for me it did, after the first use. I wasn't expecting it to do anything that early but it went right back to my curls when I finger coiled, versus before when it would just stay straight. I didn't have to cut anything. I came back to find the original comment so I could say thank you@showscience. 😉

    I had a similar experience after having a Dominican Blow Out. I discovered that they use silicones in their products. This will significantly change your curl pattern and make your hair very dry. After some research, I washed my hair with a sulfate shampoo (Mane 'n Tail) to strip away the silicone. Drenched my hair ( making sure every strand was saturated) in mayonnaise covered with a plastic cap and a thermal cap and left it on overnight (total of 12 hours). Rinse out the mayo the next morning and saw that my curl pattern returned back to its normal state and not as much heat damage as I thought before. Next, I towel dried, sprayed my hair with black tea (makes hair soft and lessens shedding) then I saturated my hair in my deep conditioner (It's a 10) covered with a plastic cap and thermal cap. Left it on for 8 hours. Rinsed. Combed out with Grapeseed oil and warm pure organic coconut oil. Twisted hair in medium size twists, pinned twists and covered hair with a silk wrap scarf. It works. No Big Chop!!

    Been natural almost two years, flat ironed my hair once every few months and didn't get any heat Damage. Flat ironed my hair ONE time with a titanium flat iron, hair was straightened to the gawds lol. 🙌🏾🙌🏾 Washed my hair a month later and had two to four inches heat damage ALL over my head. I mean my ends were bone straight with no chance of a curl😭😭😭. My hair was past collar bone length, now it's barely shoulder length. I didn't waste anytime, cut the ends off and back to my protective styles. 😢

    • @nuelle2361
      @nuelle2361 8 років тому +2

      Shaya Kells it's actually not as hard for me not to flat iron my hair because I was used to having it in braids all the time because my mom would never let me wear it out, now that I do my own hair, I wear it out all the time, so I'm really not as tempted to flat iron because I'm used to something else. It is harder for others though.

    I didnt actually realize how easy it was to get heat damage. Like the other day I straightened my hair and it honestly looked so good and it felt amazing and it flowed so nicely and then I washed it and my hair didnt completely bounce back like it used to. I was so sad lmao but I'm glad I found this.

    Hi - I took my hair out of locs n go a dominican blowout a month after. My hair DOES NOT HAVE ANY CURLS what so ever. So now I'm in search of something to give me my curls back. I'm going to try the hydrolyzed wheat protein. I've been using Kenra moisture conditioner bc it has the wheat protein in it for the past two weeks plus used the smelly apogee protein step 2. Hair is still straight. I know it will take some time so I've been doing heartless curly styles. I'm so grateful for my UA-cam sistas sharing their experience n knowledge.

    Thank you for your heat damaged hair tips I did get some of mine cut in to a cute bob like style. Short around the back and sides. This was 2week ago already growing back. I have plenty of natural growth showed up from the cut. Still lot of heat damaged left around the top sides, very top and back. So I'm going to the hair store to buy some products because I was on my way to get cut some more. Don't really want to cut any more. Thank goodness for people like you.👌

    About 3 months ago I started getting my hair straightened at the Paul Mitchell school after 2 and a half years of natural hair. After the 2nd and 3rd time getting it done, I've realized that the majority of my hair no longer curls the way it should and I have extensive heat damage. I've been trying to not to get too depressed over it, and I actually would cut it if it wasn't so extensive throughout my hair. I've actually tried mayo and the apoghee treatment but nothing is working and I just want to be able to retain length and have curly hair. Will this wheat protein work for me? And I really don't want to get twists again, had 'em for two years.

    I just big chopped after 2 YEARS and I tried my hardest to apply heat on only special occasions , and I believe that I did. When I was big chopping I noticed that some strands would be curly at the top , then less then one inch of the strand would be straight and then the rest would be curly, AND THEN the relaxed ends . Is that heat damage?

    Hey Lady, love the videos! Quick question, when you use the hydrolyzed wheat protein does it get stiff while on your hair and how long is your typical protein treatment session?

    First off I wanna say I love your hair! I've been transitioning for a year now and my hair is still in a akward stage. Some hair curls when I wet it or stays mushy but after it dries it's all puffy with stray curls here and there. I had lots of heat damage my hair has improved over the months just not as much as I thought it would. I wanna get a protein treatment to see if that would help but my hair isn't breaking off and I've never had any chemicals in my hair before its actually pretty healthy I don't wanna risk messing it up.

    • @curlsunbothered
      @curlsunbothered  9 років тому +1

      Thank you!! I have the same issues, there are at least two large sections of my hair that look like reverted straight hair versus curly hair (it sucks). My hair never broke up either, but the protein (for me) helped restore my curl pattern. If you have doubts then I wouldn't do it. I do a TON of research before I try anything and make sure I can deal with the consequences no matter the outcome.

    May you please help me! I had extremely perfect curls, I let this one lady dye my hair in 9th grade she bleached it, and it was bleached for about 3 weeks, I wanted another color so she dyed it purple, after that it turned red on it’s on then it turned orange,pink,blonde,white and red, and my hair started to shed, it started to feel very rough, my curls weren’t the same, and my hair was very short after that, then my mom took me to a salon and I got my sides and my back cut low, and now I’m trying to grow my hair back but mind u this was 3 years ago, I’m now a senior in high school my curl pattern still isn’t the same it’s very very kinky now and it’s not growing back.

  • @kia12210

    I think my hair is heat damaged but Im not sure. it's not my ends that are becoming straight rather a patch of my hair by my side burns. that piece of hair has always been a different texture and what not but it's not curling like the rest of my hair. from the root to the ends its a wave but not like the common heat damage where the root is fine but the ends of the hair is straighter. so I'm not 100% what it is. my mom said that her hair is kinda the same way and she doesn't use heat at all. when I flat iron my hair I straighten it for a week then wash it and put it back in weave with leave out. so any advice would be helpful because I'm not sure if its heat damage or my hair just wanting to spontaneously change patterns on me

    Haha no but in all seriousness, many many thanks for this video and for your excellent advice! I am going through some heat damage right now and I was definitely considering cutting my hair a bit. Essentially the damage is not that bad but I have never experienced this before so seeing the few spots of slightly looser curls scared me. I tried the Aphogee 2-step and I agree, it was Horrible! It was so smelly and sooo sticky that it stuck to my walls :(

      THANK YOU! You know my issue was that I used heat excessively, I forgot all about moderation (silly me). But if you use heat once or twice a year, on a setting that is appropriate for your hair texture you should be fine. I definitely understand the hesitation though because dealing with damage is ROUGH lol

    Alright so.. The bottom half of my hair (half of my head) curls but then the other half of my head (the top part) has the most damage and won't curl. I have gotten a haircut so now my hair is shoulder length... however, I was wondering if I should get my hair cut into layers or how should I work with the top part of my hair? I notice that my hair is growing and my roots are forming as curls but I still don't know what to do with the top half of my hair.
