I often get mocked for wanting to learn things that doesn't directly help me in life, but because i do i get to understand so much of what most of us take for granted. Everything in our everyday life has a place and purpose. Every little thing changes our society in some way. Everything matters. Google didn't actually drive on all streets on the entire planet. Just go on Google maps, zoom out, hold the little yellow guy, and you'll see they've only been on probably about half the countries of the world.

Yes but the time units themselves are the same everywhere. There has to be time zones, because it is not daytime or nighttime everywhere at the same time. It would be more confusing if there wasn't time zones.

We easily could just have one time and each country/city/etc. could just figure out when to do things. Example: If we all use Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), I, living in the eastern US, could easily just open my business at 5am GMT instead of 10am EST. Or eat dinner at 1pm GMT instead of 6pm EST. Etc. Etc.

Right now at 18:00 the sun is staying at the same height in every country (approximately) Also it'd ruin the concept if "the clock". The clock is made to keep track where the sun currently is/how dark/light it us outside. Having to remember it every time you travel... I don't think that this is a great idea.

You see someone with a wheelchair and the first thing you think is "This person's legs are disabled" but you don't think "This person's eyes are disabled" when you see people with glasses. I think that's big and I want everything to be like that, more of "That's a cool wheelchair" than "We need to protect and speak for him because he is disabled and on a wheelchair "

Times zones ARE a standardized measurement of time with respect to GMT.
